It’s been over a month now since Steve Jobs passed away, and people around the world are still trying to find ways to pay their respects to the fallen leader. We’ve seen several tributes to Jobs over the past 30 days, but perhaps none more touching than this. The New York Times points to a new exhibit erected in the United States Patent and Trademark Office in Alexandria, Virginia, in honor of the late CEO. Since Apple unveiled the iPhone 4S last month, everyone has been talking about one thing: Siri. The lovable assistant is the product of over 40 years of artificial intelligence research and the US CALO program (Cognitive Assistant that Learns and Organizes). Siri isn’t apparently exclusive to Apple’s handset. Microsoft’s chief strategy and research officer Craig Mundie recently told Forbes that Microsoft has had similar voice control tech on its Windows Phone platform for more than a year! He would give famous one-liners about hot issues, like when he said that Apple wasn’t tracking its users during the Location Services scandal back in April. Jobs would occasionally send out encouraging emails, like the time he emailed the Apple Store employees in Japan during the earthquake and tsunami disasters.
