Thanks to all who wrote. Deleting them from webmail -- which I haven't used since my first iPhone and had all but forgotten -- did the trick. And no, I don't have the phone set for 1000 emails, but everytime I would download another 40-odd, the last line would say something like "937 emails remaining, 0 unread."

Yes, indeed strange. I just tried again on your link and this time it worked. Gremlins, I fear.

Oh, I never thought about the pixellation, there is absolutely none on my 15 1/2 inch laptop. You must have a larger monitor. Yes, there is a fair amount of compression done by the software, otherwise the file would be HUGE and would take too long to upload to YouTube.
Misha, please compare my two uploads,
First http://youtu.be/aqBzn7u2HBw
Second http://youtu.be/gwpxxZjLDcw
The first one is raw, unchanged from the 4S except for any changes YouTube makes ( which could be a lot or none? ).
The first file is 99,000 KB and 34 seconds long = 2,911 KB/sec
The second file is 250,000 KB and 882 seconds long = 283 KB/sec
So it is compressed at a 10 to 1 ratio! The MoviePlus X5 software will produce the output at much less compression if you ask it to. I selected their "YouTube" output.
The YouTube instructions do tell you to upload at the highest quality available, raw if possible, but ... it would have taken too long to upload.
As for the beavers, the government fellow I happened to meet up there one day said they would destroy the dams in a controlled, bit by bit fashion. Government control right down to the finest detail ;)
One amazing fact is that I have hiked by these beaver ponds hundreds of times and I've only seen the beavers out of the water maybe twice before. They will often swim around and come and look at me from the water but never on land. So it was quite an unusual treat (and a great time to have a 4S!) to see them out like they were on Saturday. I guess even beavers procrastinate and then have to rush as the deadline approaches! LOL :) But at least they get the job done, unlike some politicians we are about to hear from!

Texting to/from an iPad?

My sister and I just purchased an iPad 2 for our mother for her 60th birthday. Let's just say we scored big!
I'm looking for suggestions to send texts to and from the iPad to our smart phones. My sister has Verizon, and a Motorola smartphone. I have an iPhone 3GS on AT&T.
Any thoughts/input would be appreciated!
Thank you!

Jim,
If your iPhone is iOS 5 she could use message, for the other phone an app like textfree will do the job.

You can sign up for a Google Voice number and then download the app to your Mom's iPad. She can send and receive text messages to anyone from the Google Voice App.

there are several free texting apps available in the app store. I used one, I forget which, between my old iPod touch & my phone, just to try out; worked fine.

Which Motorola does your sister have? If its an Android, eBuddy XMS has an app for Android and for iOS. My friend from NJ uses it on his Android and I use it on my iPhone.
I gave up Google Voice about 6 months ago. The voice part worked great. The text part was unreliable. Sometimes the texts went through right away and a good text conversation was started. Other times one of us would text and the other wouldn't get it. I had it set up to also go to email. I always got the texts through email.

Other than trying to get texting turned off completely, I don't see any way
to avoid these.
I just figure the (so far occasional) 20cents isn't worth agonizing over.
I have a iP4.

I'm not sure I understand the question. If you're asking how to delete a number you dialed that is not in. Your iPhone contacts, go phone>recent and swipe to bring up delete button. Hope that helps.
