Its interesting that it took so long for the issue of viruses to come up. One of the reasons that the MacOS X virus count is zero is the permissions issue. If you can't write to a systems directory that email you're reading can't plant a virus either. OS X viruses will become common when default permissions are "everyone can do everything".

Now you tell me! ;-)

Just yesterday I placed an order for a new 13 inch! Story of my life, that is.

It's been in the rumor mill for weeks.

It's probably still at least 3 months away, unless it gets announced in January.

That would limit me to running Quicken at home, so I'll try to see if there are retail SL install DVDs that are as new as my MacBook Pro.

Actually, there was more than one thing left to try. I assumed that because my MacBook Pro wouldn't accept a native installation of anything older than the OS that shipped with it in early 2011, there'd be no point in even trying my retail SL Install DVD, which was 10.6. (10A432). However, that WORKED!) I'm now running Software update on my virtualized machine!

I'm starting to read some reviews from sources that initially were 'loving' the Fire. Turns out, it's not what they thought it was going to be. It's purely a crippled consumption device.

I don't believe it will be an iPad 'killer' as some alluded to after the release, very very shortly after the release. Not so much now.
