AOL’s AIM messaging system is one of the most popular out there, but it hasn’t really felt the AOL love of late. With clunky apps across all platforms and something of an identity crisis, AIM has become the established protocol that third-party apps have made a living out of supporting.

Have you ever been using your Mac computer, received a text message on your iPhone and thought, “I wish I could just use my Mac’s keyboard to respond to the text?” What about emails or iMessages? Well now you can, using the new Type2Phone app.

The pocket edition of Minecraft is now available for the iPhone and iPad in the App Store. We told you that Minecraft was coming to the iOS platform a couple of months ago, and now it’s finally here.

Fans of the popular game will be pleased to know that the iOS version looks and feels just like its desktop counterpart. Minecraft for iOS lacks online play support, but there’s still enough world-building fun to make it an attractive download.(...)

Belkin’s LiveAction iPhone Camera Remote and Grip Finally Announced

Remember that iPhone camera remote of Belkin’s that went through the FCC last week? The accessory maker has now made it all official, and the remote even has a friend tagging along for the ride.

Belkin today announced the LiveAction Camera Remote alongside the LiveAction Grip, both of which will cost $49.99, with the former now available for pre-order and the latter shipping today.

Both accessories look to take advantage of the cameras in the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, and of course, the iPod touch…(...)

Popular online reading service Readability has announced several big changes, including the long-awaited release of a native iOS app in the App Store. Not only that, but Readability will now be free for everyone, with users able to subscribe for a small fee to gain access to the “premium” experience.

Google has put its Gmail app back on the App Store. After an embarrassing fiasco in which the app was made available and then pulled after only a couple of hours, Gmail for iOS has been resubmitted to the App Store for everyone to download.

iPhone Customers Remain Loyal to AT&T

The industry was shocked when Apple announced that the iPhone would only be available on AT&T in the summer of 2007. While many phone makers tried to get their handsets on as many carriers as possible, Apple entered into an exclusive agreement with AT&T that lasted until February of this year.

Despite the new competition from Verizon, Sprint, and regional carriers like C Spire, iPhone owners have remained loyal to AT&T. Perhaps the nation’s biggest GSM carrier isn’t as evil as we all thought?(...)
