Create Your Own Fake Siri Conversations with iFakeSiri

Posted: 26 Nov 2011 03:46 PM PST

Since Siri is turning into the biggest thing to hit the internet since cats playing pianos, it was probably inevitable that someone would get around to making an easy way to fake Siri screenshots, and it has finally happened.

By offering a simple interface, the iFakeSiri web app allows self-professed comedians to enter their imaginary Siri conversations and have a fake screenshot created. This is perfect for, say, anyone that needs to write blog posts about Apple’s fancy assistant technology!(...)

WSJ Confirms Apple Has Tapped Sharp for iPad 3 Displays

Posted: 26 Nov 2011 11:42 AM PST

According to The Wall Street Journal, Apple has tapped Sharp as a display supplier for its next generation tablet. We’ve heard the news before from analysts and their “supply checks,” but this obviously lends some credibility to the story.

WSJ believes the move is in an effort, by Apple, to diversify component suppliers for its products. And given the company’s ongoing court battle with another display supplier (Samsung), it makes sense that it would want to do so…(...)

I’m Waiting For the “Next Big Thing” From the Jailbreak Community

Posted: 26 Nov 2011 08:00 AM PST

Do I really need to jailbreak anymore? I’ve been thinking about that question since I got my iPhone 4S about two months ago. I know this sounds sacrilegious on iDB, but think about it: do we really need an untethered iOS 5 jailbreak?

After taking a step back from the jailbreak scene for awhile, I’ve realized that I don’t have a desire to jailbreak anymore. Why? I think that I’m waiting for the “next big thing.”(...)

Best Buy Completely Sells Out of iPad 2 Stock, Still Plenty of Android Tablets Left

Posted: 26 Nov 2011 07:18 AM PST

With Black Friday finally over and the madness it creates beginning to dissipate, stores and online retailers are now taking stock and more importantly, counting the cash.

If Best Buy’s online store is anything to go by, Apple’s iPad has been the big seller this year, with all of the iPad 2 stock now unavailable to order due to high demand. Best Buy did offer a near $50 off discount on the iPad 2 yesterday.

But it’s OK, Best Buy still has plenty of of Galaxy Tabs available for purchase…(...)

Apple Proposes a Brand New Kind of iOS Interface

Posted: 26 Nov 2011 04:00 AM PST

Apple has filed an interesting patent with the US Patent & Trademark Office that details a revolutionary type of interface. The filing also contains a new social networking application for iOS. While we tend to stay away from boring patent filings on iDB, this particular one caught our eye with it’s unusual details.

A new way of managing data like webpages, music, and photos, has been outlined in an interface that Apple calls “Persistent Overlay.” The interface takes several elements from Notification Center and the multitasking bar, builds upon them, and expands them as a means to manage data on a systemwide level. We may have just got our first glimpse at iOS 6…(...)

An Inside Look at Apple’s New In-Store Pickup Service

Posted: 25 Nov 2011 11:28 PM PST

A few weeks ago, Apple updated its retail store app with multiple new features. The two that really stood out were the EasyPay self-checkout option and the new in-store pickup service.

The New York Times got a glimpse of the latter feature in action yesterday during the Black Friday sale at a SoCal Apple Store. Utilizing customer tracking software, the service is actually quite interesting…(...)
