I switched to Flickr. I like it but it's more work setting up collections, then each set within the collections. The price is right though :-)
Alice, I won't miss iWeb, since I've never used it (and I hear that iWeb can still be used for web sites hosted in other places). Similarly, I've only used Gallery once, so that's not a problem for me, either. I am looking forward to moving to iCloud, but I wanted to get this problem fixed first, in case it was more complicated than it turned out to be. ;)

Thanks, Jay. My iPhone, iCal on the MBP, and MM are just fine, so it's definitely the iPad. I've checked the time zone for each appointment, but somehow it never occurred to me to check the time zone for the calendar in general! Thanks so much! That solved the problem. :D

To be clear Time Zone is set in Settings/General. It's set for the iPad & applies to all apps. There is no Calendar app setting.

Hmmm. When I go to Settings > Wifi > Network the one I need does not have a padlock. When I looked at the details no security type was mentioned but Client ID was blank. I typed the password into client ID. That seemed to do the trick. At least for awhile.
If the iPad/iPhone sat idle awhile the wifi signal would continue to appear at the top left but the connection stopped functioning. I'd go back into Settings, turn Wifi off and on again. Sometimes that worked, sometimes not. Then I'd try forgetting the network, turn wifi off and on, select network, enter password. If that didn't work I'd go through the on/ off forget routine and enter password into the network setting before I selected it.
Occasionally when I'd choose the network from the list the Belkin password page would show up and I'd have to type in the password.
It seems like each time the darn thing stopped responding I'd have to try some new combination to get it up again. Very frustrating. This is our last day in the rental. I'd like to leave a note for the next iDevice user, but the Belkin response is so varied I'm not sure what to write besides suggesting they check the network settings to make sure the password appears in Client ID.
If anyone has advice or an explanation I'd love to hear it. I hate to think of the next iDevice person having to go through the same tiresome song and dance just to get a simple wifi connection to be reliable.
Thank you everyone who responded.

When I'm walking around my neighborhood, sometimes I find an unlocked
network -- I can just click on the name & join it, no going through the
details & typing-in part. I don't know if I would *stay* on as I'm usually
just passing by briefly.
I don't know why you're having such a problem with this network; it sounds
more like a network/router/setup problem that sometimes responds to one
prompt, sometimes another. Maybe the network owner should get a techie in
for a troubleshooting call.

There are many unprotected Wi-Fi networks out there. How many are due to
ignorance and how many are due to (misplaced?) generosity is hard to find
out.

I found that too. Marware makes a Micro-Shell and it is more 'tailored looking', but again the Smart cover can fall off. Not too cool. BUT the Micro-Shell DOES fit nicely and seems to be pretty sturdy.
My $4.00 one is fine when I want the 'nekked' look.

iOS 5.0.2 to address battery woes; iOS 5.1 may enhance Siri via BGR:
The Three Biggest Letters In Tech by Zach Epstein on 11/16/11
Apple is reportedly hard at work on a new update to its iOS operating
system that will address the remaining issues users are having with
battery life. German-language technology blog Macerkopf.de cites a an
Apple software engineer in claiming that the new update, iOS 5.0.2,
will be released to public before the end of next week. A more
significant update, iOS 5.1, is also in the works according to the
report. Appleâs first major update to iOS will supposedly feature
several enhancements to Siri that will give the virtual assistant
access to new functions such as capturing a photograph or video or even
enabling and disabling Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. The report does not detail
when iOS 5.1 might be released to the public.

To backup and transfer your information to your new phone. Do they both have to be the same OS? I'm transferring my information from one phone running 4.3 to a phone with 5. Do I need to update the 4.3?
Also, what was the name of that backup software program. I remember we talked about it months ago. It was free for some time. I believe it was called IDisk. Is that right?

Can you buy an app that will turn a wi-fi printer into an air print printer?
Thanks, still trying.

If you have a Mac, you don't need an air print printer. You just need to share the printer from your Mac is all I believe. Search the archives for some instructions from Bill Boulware on how to do this. I followed the instructions he posted a couple of months ago and was able to print.

Also look in the app store to see if your printer maker has an app, many
do.

Thanks! I had Googled several things but didn't turn up this one.
However, I did figure out how to stop it. In Windows XP I went into Windows
Task Manager and closed the iTunesHelper.exe, which solved the problem. Then
I did a search for ituneshelper.exe and found it under C:\Program
Files\iTunes. Funny that this never happened until I upgraded to the new
iTunes and new iPhone operating systems. Oh, well, as long as I can stop it
(necessary after every reboot of my computer), I'm happy! <smile>
By the way, iTunes is not in my startup folder! ????

It appears the developer has a beta version that will work with 10.5.
That would be a good place to start.
