Cloud services including the new iCloud are popular among iPhone and iPad users, but many experts warn not to upload confidential documents or sensitive photographs to public cloud services or social networks. Until now, there was no simple and secure alternative. Today's introduction of the new iOS app everDOCs to the App Store is designed to make using an iPhone or iPad significantly more productive and secure.

A Bridge Between iPad/iPhone and a Personal Computer or Server

More than 95% of all iPad users also have a computer with Microsoft Windows or Apple OSX, according to recent research by Chitika. However, many users have found it difficult to access their important files while away from home or the office.

"Considering the excellent connectivity of iOS devices, one would expect that they could use their iPad on the road to open documents and pictures stored on their computer," said Marin Bogdan, Chief Software Architect at iNimated.com. "Surprisingly, this has been neither easy nor secure, which is why we created everDOCs."

To help solve the problem of accessing files remotely on an iPad or iPhone, everDOCs combines three apps:

1. A Remote Explorer and Document Viewer for iDevices: Documents (iWork, Microsoft Office, PDF, Pictures, etc.) stored on a computer at home or at the office are opened and read live on an iPhone/iPad. Documents will never again have to be synchronized.

2. An Email-Assistant residing on the computer at home will send any files by email when requested by the everDOCs iOS app.

3. A completely private File Sharing Service shares selected folders and documents securely with family, friends, team members or customers, without any data being sent to Facebook, Dropbox, Google, iCloud, etc.

A Simple And Secure Alternative or Supplement to Public Clouds And Social Networks

everDOCs may be used securely even for private or confidential documents, such as copies of identity documents, credit card or bank account details, insurance papers, contracts, etc. They will never be stored on any server on the internet. Instead, they are streamed directly from a personal computer to an authorized iPad or iPhone over an encrypted connection only when they are needed.

No personal data is stored either in the iDevice or outside, and no registration is required. Even if the mobile device is lost, no one will be able to read or abuse any documents because they are not stored there.

"This 'Private Cloud' solution combines the security advantages of a private network with the flexibility and the comfort of a cloud solution without their disadvantages," Marin Bogdan said.

The everDOCs System:
everDOCs has two components: everDOCs Bridge is installed on a personal computer, and the everDOCs iOS app on an iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. The user can almost instantly start accessing all his documents from his computer live on his iDevice. Access can be restricted to selected drives and folders. Streaming works equally well over WLAN or on-the-road (internet access required).

Two add-ons are available as in-app purchases: the "Document Package" opens additional document formats (iWork, Microsoft Office, text, weblinks, pictures, and more) and the "Security Package" is required to protect all communication using secure SSL encryption.

Revere, Massachusetts - Independent developer James Hollender recently updated Step 4 Moral Inventory Jr. to version 1.0.6, his new addiction recovery based app for iPhone and iPod touch. It provides an easy-to-use, detailed process by which persons participating in Addiction Recovery Programs can be aided in completing Step 4 of the 12 Steps without the use of any spreadsheets. It makes the task less time consuming, while at the same time helping the user create a valuable asset in their recovery process.

Create your own personal Moral Inventory using an iPhone or iPod touch.

Although this app is designated "Jr." it still has the same capabilities as the parent app, "Step 4 Moral Inventory" for the iPad. The user interface has been completely redesigned to accommodate the considerably smaller iPhone and iPod touch screen size.

It was originally thought impossible to convert the iPad version so the same tasks could be accomplished on the iPhone and iPod touch, but it has been done and the Step 4 Moral Inventory Jr. app is the end result.

The update to version 1.0.6 takes advantage of Automatic Reference Counting (ARC) to prevent memory leaks. Animations have also been updated to make them smoother.

Background:
The Step 4 Moral Inventory app was created because of the complexity and length of time needed to complete a proper Moral Inventory. When persons working their way through a 12-step program start creating their own moral inventory and discover that some ways of doing a Moral Inventory might require a thousand spreadsheets, the task seems daunting and many never get around to finishing it, thus depriving themselves of the rewards a completed Moral Inventory can provide. This app is an attempt at finding a way to make the task less time consuming, while at the same time helping the user create a valuable asset in their recovery process.

Storage of the Moral Inventory data is done using an underlying database which can be backed up and restored as necessary.

Disclaimer - This app is neither officially produced nor approved by Alcoholics Anonymous or any other Addiction Recovery program. From what is known there have been many Moral Inventory spreadsheets circulating unofficially among AA members for at least 50 years in various versions and this app is based on one the developer found to be useful and more comprehensive than most.

Acknowledgement:
Many thanks to "George" and his "Dungeon Prison Complete" spreadsheet which has been used as the outline for this app. This spreadsheet was developed based on years of his own personal research of the AA Big Book, along with help from many others who had already gone through the process of completing their own Moral Inventories. This was done in order to more fully understand the concepts necessary for completing his own Moral Inventory. George's extensive research resulted in the creation of the "Dungeon Prison Complete" spreadsheet, a detailed set of instructions on how to create a Moral Inventory, including several new concepts not directly covered in the AA Big Book: Sources of Anxiety/Excitement as a 4th Category; and a set of Sex Relations exercises. Both of these new elements were discovered to be critical in eventually understanding why we do what we do, the end result of completing your own Moral Inventory.

Anyone, Not Just 12-Steppers, Can Benefit from Completing a Moral Inventory:

The process of completing a Moral Inventory doesn't directly address anyone's specific addition or addictions, but rather helps the user examine in detail events that have transpired in their life. The Moral Inventory app gently assists the user in probing into not only what happened, but also why it happened. The questions asked help the user delve into areas often never considered before like:

* What did I want?
* Why did I want it?
* What am I not admitting?
* What lie did I tell myself? (always present)
* What did I leave out or not say?
* What lie did I tell others?
* Have I ever done the same thing?
* Was it any of my business?
* Were my expectations reasonable?
* What was the real truth?

If you take blood thinning medications like Coumadin(R) or Warfarin (also known as Jantoven, Marfarin, Lawarin, Waran and Marevan), then this is an app you will truly make use of on a regular basis. Most lists providing information on the content of vitamin K (K1, K1D & K2) in foods generally contain only a limited number of foods, and often they don't indicate the serving size. It is important to understand that the goal isn't to not eat any foods with vitamin K, but rather to keep relatively constant the amount of vitamin K ingested each day so the amount of Coumadin(R) prescribed can work effectively. This can be different for every person using blood thinning medications, and this is why doctors require occasional blood tests as they indicate if the dosage needs to be adjusted.

All too often we hear that you should stay away from dark green leafy vegetables if you are using Coumadin(R), but there are a host of other foods containing vitamin K. Even the dark green leafy vegetables contain varying amounts of vitamin K. Further, each food has its own characteristics and sometimes whether it is fresh, frozen or canned can make a difference in the vitamin K content. The important thing to understand is you may be inadvertently ingesting something which you think doesn't contain any vitamin K when in fact it does. A good example would be carrots which contain varying amounts of vitamin K. A single baby carrot has only 0.9 mcg (very low) while a cup of canned carrot juice contains 36.6 mcg (high).

The Vitamin K app provides information about foods and how they are rated for Vitamin K content based on preparation and serving sizes. This is provided as a means to assist in deciding which foods to eat if you are using blood thinning medications such as Coumadin(R) or Warfarin. The foods are rated from EXTREMELY LOW to EXTREMELY HIGH in Vitamin K. The following colors help readily identify which is which:

* Black = Rated EXTREMELY HIGH in Vitamin K (700.0 - 1146.6 mcg)
* Dark Red = Rated VERY HIGH in Vitamin K (300.0 - 699.9 mcg)
* Red = Rated HIGH in Vitamin K (25.0 - 299.9 mcg)

The technology behind the game works in two ways: first by capturing and storing the images from the camera, then analyzing the captured images and recognizing movement changes to locate their current position.

"This is just the first step for us." said Omri Argaman, one of Crimson Apps cofounders. "Very soon we'll be putting out a software development kit that includes this technology so other companies can use it in their games as well. Our hope is that this becomes the standard in mobile gaming for motion and gesture recognition".

The game itself puts players in control of Fuego, whose vacation has suddenly taken a turn for the worse when his plane crashes. Left in the jungle, he constructs a raft to escape. Players move Fuego along the river, avoiding crocodiles and obstacles, while collecting food and gold to trade with in order to survive and find a way home.

Using the camera as the main control mechanism also allows for some great candid shots of players, which are displayed at the end of each level.

It's the technology, however, that really pushes this game forward. Fuego's River Adventures gives players the opportunity to have fun in their own environment in an innovative and unique way, while showing off the future of gaming and working up a sweat while doing it.
