I've been having the same problem when I try to hang up from a phone call, & I also have the white iPhone 4s.

Other times, it seems to work very easily and we are opening apps when we really don't want to. My brother and his son who have the black phone are having no such problems. Is this a common problem with the iPhone 4? And is there any connection with the fact that the 3 of us who are having problems have a white phone and the two who aren't have a black or would that just be a coincidence? I appreciate any insight you can offer as we are wondering if we have bad phones or if this is just how the iPhone is. Thanks for any help.

No stylus, no gloved hands and no screen protector. Just my hands on the phone. Do you know if this is a known problem? Thanks

I doubt that the color has anything to do with it. But... Just for fun try trading with the black phone holders for a day and see if the problem follows the phones.

I at times have a issue with touch too. A soft glasses cloth without anything else. Just normally a build up of stiff that's on my hands from work (I'm a truck driver).

When I have that issue, I do a hard reset and it usually takes care of the problem.

I just got a new 4s phone today and have Put everything on it from my old phone In iTunes. How do I get the service moved over to it. Do I need to deactivate my 3gs? If so how do I go about doing that? I do have the wifi working. Sorry I am not great at this.
Thanks,

I just went through this. I am with AT&T. I had to go the the local AT&T store, they replaced my sim and activated the iPhone right there. You have a new phone so all you need is the IEMI & sim numbers and you can call AT&T via land line and they can do it over the phone.
I'm not sure about other carriers, perhaps a CDMA iPhone can be activated by call the carrier from a land line.

CDMA with Sprint and Verizon do not use sim cards. Only AT&T. A quick stop to the store - regardless of carrier - will probably be the quickest way to activate your phone.

For most people in an urban setting (Home, office and car) a Bumper would suffice. The bumper surrounds the iPhone's vulnerable spots, such as the corners and sides, protecting them from impact of a light to moderate nature. Most 'Back snaps' come in nice looking patterns and may be attractive, but they do not come up around the screen, so if your iPhone takes a face-plant on the ground, I doubt this would offer much in the way of screen protection.
Some girls and women want 'cute', go for a couple of cheapo cases from Amazon or eBay and use this for occasional dressy times.
Businessmen and women want a professional leather case, SENA and VAJA make wonderful stylish cases, worth checking out.
For the more 'Rugged' lifestyle, such as Murray, living in the mountains or someone in heavy manual work, the Otterbox, though bulky is the most popular for protection.
Another, new kid on the block is the Lifeproof case. It is a bit more form-fitting, has water resistance and seems to be a 'civilized' looking rugged case. Not like a 'tank such as Otterbox.
Another rugged, but versatile case is the Speck Tough armour. This is 3-parts: a hard snap-on back, rubber textured "Tire tread" thick skin, and a belt clip/stand. You could use the back snap in city and home use, place the rubber skin over this for the mountain weekends and have the belt clip if you wish to use this on hikes, bikes, construction sites. (To be honest, the Lifeproof and otterbox would cover the ports and keep dust, grime and moisture out of the iPhone better in this circumstance) Lifeproof also has the water resistance and makes this good for those in water-oriented things like boating, fishing and so on.
The "Best case" is the one you will want to use. I could tell you what the best case is for a purpose is, but if you find it 'ugly' or 'too bulky' you wouldn't want to use it and so it would not be the best for you.
I have an industrial looking case from DNACaseworks.com It is metal, requires the user to screw it onto the iPhone. It is darn cool looking and will protect, but some find it too 'hard-edge', 'boxy' and would prefer a metal alloy from DracoDesigns. com. I'm a real techno-geek and like the engineering/ machinist look of my DNA case.
For the big photographer, the JOBY Gorillamobile case and tripod is key. This is a hard plastic 'bumper' style with a snap-on tripod. You can set your phone up to do video/pictures etc. But, being the bumper style, only surrounds the corners and sides, not the back or front.
Go with
A. Comfort in Hand
B. protection
C. Profile and function (Do you want a clip option? A place for credit cards/business cards etc)

I prefer no case at all as the iPhones form and look is so nice I
don't want to cover it. I also use a standard dock to charge and
if in a case I would have to remove it every time, I don't even think
a bumper would fit. I had my Evo a long time with no case and it
was fine but of course there is always a risk with no case.
I have 2 friends one with a Droid Bionic and another with a Samsung
Galaxy S and the cases they choose almost triple the phones thickness
and make them look like ugly small bricks. My friend handed me his Bionic
to play with last week and I was saying to myself what the heck did he
do to it. It didn't even look like a Droid anymore just a big black mass
with the standard Android home screen. I doesn't even fit in his shirt
pocket anymore which is how I carry my iPhone.

NO! The iPhone, along with other cell phones, are notorious for erasing the magnetic strip on credit cards. Don't get your credit cards anywhere near your phone!

There is no problem with a credit card case at all. I have been using one for months. It may be that hotel keys are a little more sensitive to disruption.

I agree, I think a case is a necessity if you want to keep it safe. I wouldn't want to just throw it in my purse without being protected.

If you want to see a variety of case designs, go to Amazon and search "iPhone 4 case". I'm happy with a $6.99 gel case--comfortable to hold, semi-transparent so you can still see the phone, adds almost no bulk or weight, yet keeps it intact when I drop it on the sidewalk.

I have had no problems with the MicroCell since upgrading to 5.0 or 5.0.1.
BTW, AT&T offered me a MicroCell for free about a year ago. Reception at our house is really awful, but just down the street reception is fine, so my whole are can't be designated "poor reception". It works fine for me.

I got mine free when my subdivision was designated as poor reception area. The interesting thing - it took three months for the thing to activate! We had it in a good signal area, etc. - it just wouldn't activate. I guess they were backed up or something. The phone now says "ATT Mcell" in the upper left. No disconnecting at night with IOS 5.0 or 5.0.1. I don't know what your problem was, maybe firmware in the microcell combined with IOS 5. My microcell is newer.
Some other notes - what pre-wired house actually has an ethernet port near a window for the GPS satellites? Not mine. My microcell is in the closet with the ethernet wiring. It works - it even says it has GPS lock but I doubt it.
There is an antenna port on the side. No antenna supplied. I took a large paper clip, straightened it out, bent the end 90 degrees, shoved it in - works great! Approximately the right length. I can't verify if there were more bars, but maybe the beer can reflector trick will give me some.
One thing I notice about a micro cell - the calls take longer to connect. Sometimes over a minute, I just have to be patient. UGH! I wish they would fix it, though.

There is a "blacklist" app on the AppStore. Though it will simply not answer your phone and goes to voicemail.
It wouldn't hurt to save the voicemails in case you need them in case it becomes a problem.

iCam concept turns your iPhone 5 into a point-and-shoot killer

Sent to you by Bill Boulware via Google Reader: iCam concept turns your
iPhone 5 into a point-and-shoot killer via 9to5Mac by Jordan Kahn on
11/28/11
When author of the official 'Steve Jobs' bio, Walter Isaacson, sat down
for an interview with Fortune earlier this month, we learned that Steve
Jobs had three key industries he wanted to reinvent: the television,
textbooks, and photography. We've certainly heard a lot of rumors about
an iTV in the works, and Apple has arguably already done a lot for the
textbook business, despite Jobs having loftier goals for the industry
as a whole. While the iPhone 4S's redesigned camera might be good
enough to get an endorsement from photographer Annie Leibovitz, the
guys at ADR Studios have created this new 'iCam' concept imagining a
separate accessory that would turn the iPhone 5 into a full-fledged
point-and-shoot.
Keeping rumored iPhone 5 specs in mind, ADR's concept would include a
10.1 megapixel sensor and provide an "ISO range from 100 to 3200
(extendable up to 6400 equivalent)" for full HD at 60fps. Imagined
specs for the accessory include an aluminum unibody, interchangeable
lenses, a small touch-screen on the front, LED flash, pico-projector,
SD UHS-i slot, motion sensor, and bluetooth. We're guessing a few
companies are already at work on an similar accessory after seeing
these gorgeous mock ups.

Re: [iPad] Cases to protect the iPhone 4S ?

I use a case (not one with a screen protector) to help against dropitis.
I like one that looks nice (though I'm not into cute or girlie) but if it
doesn't have grippiness it's no good to me.
I have grippy-cases for my smaller iDevices. I got the original Apple case
for my iPad1 because it closes up to protect the screen when I'm not using
it & it may be stuffed into my tote bag or whatnot with other stuff, get
papers & magazines dumped on top of it on the side table, etc. -- more
vulnerable than my phone which goes either into my pocket or a side-pocket
in my purse.

IMO, For most people in an urban setting (Home, office and car) a Bumper
would suffice. The bumper surrounds the iPhone's vulnerable spots, such as
the corners and sides, protecting them from impact of a light to moderate
nature. Most 'Back snaps' come in nice looking patterns and may be
attractive, but they do not come up around the screen, so if your iPhone
takes a face-plant on the ground, I doubt this would offer much in the way
of screen protection.
Some girls and women want 'cute', go for a couple of cheapo cases from
Amazon or eBay and use this for occasional dressy times.
Businessmen and women want a professional leather case, SENA and VAJA make
wonderful stylish cases, worth checking out.
For the more 'Rugged' lifestyle, such as Murray, living in the mountains or
someone in heavy manual work, the Otterbox, though bulky is the most popular
for protection.
Another, new kid on the block is the Lifeproof case. It is a bit more
form-fitting, has water resistance and seems to be a 'civilized' looking
rugged case. Not like a 'tank such as Otterbox.
Another rugged, but versatile case is the Speck Tough armour. This is
3-parts: a hard snap-on back, rubber textured "Tire tread" thick skin, and a
belt clip/stand. You could use the back snap in city and home use, place the
rubber skin over this for the mountain weekends and have the belt clip if
you wish to use this on hikes, bikes, construction sites. (To be honest, the
Lifeproof and otterbox would cover the ports and keep dust, grime and
moisture out of the iPhone better in this circumstance) Lifeproof also has
the water resistance and makes this good for those in water-oriented things
like boating, fishing and so on.
The "Best case" is the one you will want to use. *I* could tell you what the
best case is for a purpose is, but if you find it 'ugly' or 'too bulky' you
wouldn't want to use it and so it would not be the best for you.
I have an industrial looking case from DNACaseworks.com It is metal,
requires the user to screw it onto the iPhone. It is darn cool looking and
will protect, but some find it too 'hard-edge', 'boxy' and would prefer a
metal alloy from DracoDesigns.com. I'm a real techno-geek and like the
engineering/machinist look of my DNA case.
For the big photographer, the JOBY Gorillamobile case and tripod is key.
This is a hard plastic 'bumper' style with a snap-on tripod. You can set
your phone up to do video/pictures etc. But, being the bumper style, only
surrounds the corners and sides, not the back or front.
Go with
A. Comfort in Hand
B. protection
C. Profile and function (Do you want a clip option? A place for credit
cards/business cards etc)

An Apple iPhone spontaneously began smoking and emitting a red glow
while aboard an airplane in Australia. Passengers aboard Regional
Express flight ZL319 were welcomed to their destination in Sydney,
Australia on Friday by a frightening ordeal. According to the airline,
a passenger's iPhone began "emitting a significant amount of dense
smoke" shortly after the flight landed, and the smoke was accompanied
by a red glow. A flight attendant extinguished the device and no
passengers or airline staff were injured according to the airline. The
phone in question appears to be an iPhone 4 (pictured above) as opposed
to the new iPhone 4S model, and it has been collected by the Australian
Transport Safety Bureau as part of its investigation. Regional Express'
full press release follows below.
