Popular Racing Game Asphalt 6 Free for a Limited Time Posted: 16 Dec 2011 04:25 PM PST While we haven’t seen too many app sales yet this month, we have seen quite a few apps go free for short periods of time. There was Where’s My Water, High Caliber Hunting and EA’s Flight Control to name a few. Now we can add another one to the list. Gameloft has just made its popular iOS racing title, Asphalt 6: Adrenaline, free for a limited time…(...) "Popular Racing Game Asphalt 6 Free for a Limited Time" is an article by iDownloadBlog.com. How to Use Siri to Help You Shop for Gadgets Posted: 16 Dec 2011 02:05 PM PST We’ve seen Siri do everything from turning on a fireplace to controlling a TV set, so there’s not much that Apple’s digital assistant can do at this point that would surprise us. But all of these tricks require use of the Siri proxy. So what about the average user that probably hasn’t installed the proxy? Well, there’s still Wolfram Alpha. The database allows you to do a number of things with Apple’s new handset, and it just added another cool feature…(...) Make Your iPhone Apple Logo Glow with This Cool Mod Posted: 16 Dec 2011 12:51 PM PST Chinese manufacturer K.O. Gadget has just revealed a cool new hack that will make the Apple logo on the back of your iPhone 4S glow, much like the logo on MacBooks. For $42, the company will send you the kit to perform the mod and claims that it can be done at home in less than five minutes. The mod is actually pretty simple since you are only replacing the back panel of your iPhone. The back panel has a transparent Apple logo which lets light pass through it, but the trick is the “light strip” that you add to it…(...) iLaunch Thunder: Launch Nerf Darts Via Your iPhone’s Bluetooth Connection [Giveaway] Posted: 16 Dec 2011 12:30 PM PST In need of a great conversation piece for your desk? Look no further than the iLaunch Thunder from Dream Cheeky. The iLaunch Thunder allows you to launch Nerf-styled darts via a rotatable base using nothing more than your iDevice, its Bluetooth connection, and the free iLaunch Controller app downloadable from the App Store. In our tests, the iLaunch Thunder worked just as advertised, though it is pretty pricey at around $100. But that’s okay, we’re giving this one away…(...) iPhone 4S Launches in Over 20 New Countries Posted: 16 Dec 2011 11:48 AM PST Just as was predicted earlier this month, Apple rolled out its latest handset to several new countries today. Even though the company didn’t make an official announcement in advance, its website now reflects the additional regions. The iPhone 4S launched here in the states back in October, along with a handful of other countries. Since then, Apple has been speedily rolling out the popular device to new areas on a month by month basis. So who got it today?(...) Steve Jobs Biography Author Says His Book Was Only “First Draft,” More Content to Come Posted: 16 Dec 2011 11:29 AM PST Steve Jobs’ biographer Walter Isaacson is considering adding more content to his already-released book on Apple’s late co-founder and former CEO. The book originally went on sale not long after the iconic Jobs’ death, but with so many questions left unanswered and some pundits suggesting that the book misses important events from the man’s life, Isaacson has admitted that he may well need to add more content to his already-lengthy book. In fact, during an interview with Fortune, Isaacson went so far as to call the best-seller a “first draft,” which we are sure will no doubt not please everyone who spent their hard-earned money on it.(...) Apple’s A5 Processors Now Being Made in Texas Posted: 16 Dec 2011 09:00 AM PST Some interesting news today if you like chips (and who doesn’t?), especially those that go into the beating hearts of our iPads and iPhones. Samsung’s Texan facility has historically been the source of NAND flash memory, but according to a new report by Reuters, it is also now responsible for the A5 chip used by Apple. The A5 chip is what powers Apple’s iPhone 4S and iPad 2, and bringing production of the part to the United States hasn’t been cheap for Samsung.(...) Microsoft Joins the iPad Accessory Game With a $50 Keyboard Posted: 16 Dec 2011 08:45 AM PST Microsoft is on something of an Apple jaunt at the moment. The Windows and Office king has already been releasing iOS apps quicker than anyone else over the last few days, and it has now decided to join the lucrative iOS device accessory market with the Mobile Keyboard 5000. Despite pushing its upcoming Windows 8 as the true tablet operating system, Microsoft has announced a new Bluetooth mobile keyboard for use with the iPad. It will also in theory worth with Android tablets and presumably future Windows 8 devices (it will not work with the Kindle Fire, by the way). As far as hardware keyboards go, this offering from Microsoft doesn’t look bad at all, assuming you can overlook those Windows keys.(...) Siri Jailbreak Tweak Promises SBSettings-Like Experience Posted: 16 Dec 2011 08:30 AM PST I’ve always thought something like this will be a good idea, and it will come to fruition as soon as an iPhone 4S jailbreak is released. While the circumstances around an iPhone 4S jailbreak are still a tad sketchy, what’s clear as day is that this tweak would be ridiculously handy, and should have been a native Siri feature to begin with. Essentially, this allows you to control various toggles like Wi-Fi connection, bluetooth, etc. using only your voice. e.g. “Turn Wi-Fi on”, “Set the backlight level to 60%”, and pretty much anything else you’d normally be able to toggle with SBSettings.(...)
