My question is: I have had my iPhone 4 for a little over 6 months and within the last week, all of the sudden my charging cord plugged to the phone has a message stating that this device is not supported by that acessory! What does that mean exactly and how do I stop this from happening? Thank you all so much for your responses! I hope to hear from you soon

I was hoping this would work on my iPad also but no luck.  I have two repeating daily events that I can not delete; going back to last June.  they are only on my iPad, I was able to delete from all other Apple devices and they are not on iCloud.

The only thing I can think of is that they are residue from Mobile Me.

OK, there's something really wrong here. Let me try to respond to all the suggestions here and hopefully the problem I'm having will become obvious to some who are trying to help.

First, the details of my setup. I am running iOS 5.0.1 on an iPhone 4S. An attempt at doing any upgrade tells me that I am up to date with that.

Now, I start by selecting and tapping on the calendar icon on my iPhone screen. When I do, the month of January appears in month view (my selection). The top of the screen shows a button 'Calendars' on the left, in the center it says 'All Calendars,' and on the right is a '+' button. Next down is the calendar for January, and next is a window showing, in a list format, the events for any selected day. On the bottom are buttons for 'Today,' 'List,' 'Day,' and 'Month.' That is all that appears.

Tapping on any of the Events brings me to a new screen with, on top, on the left a button containing the date of the event, and in the center, the words 'Event Details.' below that is a window with a description of the event. Nothing else appears on that screen. All you can do there is tap the button with the date, which returns you to the month view.

If I start with List view or Day view the results are essentially the same, with the only exception being the format of the starting screen.

There are no Edit selections presented, I can't scroll anywhere off any of the screens and that is all I can do. If I knew how I could do it on the iPhone, I would do what I would do on my Mac and post a screen capture of the screens I see.

Does that give enough info to help?

Thanks,
Mike

I went thru your process step by step. When I get to the january month display I touch any day with an event scheduled. At the bottom there is a list of the event(s). I touch one of the events and get a screen detailing the event. on the upper right is an edit button. Touch it and scroll to the bottom and get the delete button in red across the bottom.

It is really insignificant as far as my problem goes, but I should mention that there is actually one 'Edit' button I can reach. If I tap the 'Calendar' button described below (on the screen I get by tapping the calendar icon), I get a list view of all my calendars, and at the top left of that screen there is an Edit button. Tapping it provides another list of my calendars which allows me to select any one of them, and that brings me to a screen where I can either change the color associated with that calendar or delete that calendar entirely!

I wonder why I don't get that Edit button when I do it? Are there different versions of the calendar app out there? I don't see any update notice indicating that, and I thought the calendar was an integral part of iOS 5 anyway.

You really need to check in your area where a 911 call goes from a cell phone.

Here in California, cell phone calls will probably wind up at a California Highway Patrol call center in Sacramento. Then they will have to figure out where you really are and transfer it to your local call center.

What I have done is to find out the local number that reaches the 911 call center here in San Francisco and set up a contact called Nine One One with that full local number. That way I get immediate response here in SF. I have used it once, and it does work.

unlike selective routing on land lines, most wireless 9-1-1 systems route
calls to a specific call center for a large regional area. in some areas
out west the call center operator may be hundreds of miles away.
exceptions are large cities and a few areas that have implemented wireless
selective routing. selective routing on your land lines allows for 9-1-1
calls to be directed to the specific answering point for your jurisdiction.
imagine that you live in city X and your next door neighbor lives in the
unincorporated county just beyond the city limits. with selective routing
when you dial 9-1-1 your call is directed to the city police but when your
neighbor dials 9-1-1 his call is directed to the sheriff's office. wireless
selective routing works in a similar fashion based on tower locations. most
wireless 9-1-1 systems route calls to a single answering point. and as jim
correctly pointed out when the wireless 9-1-1 call is answered the operator
first determines the location of the incident and then transfers the call to
the proper jurisdiction. in my home county all wireless 9-1-1 calls are
first routed to the sheriff.

9-1-1 calls are routed on special trunk lines which enable ANI/ALI data
(ANI=automatic number identification, ALI=automatic location information)
and are not translated to a standard 7-digit phone number. while some 9-1-1
call centers and police agencies may still maintain a standard 7-digit
number for use by the public many more do not. my center discontinued all
public 7-digit numbers 20-years ago. the police and fire agencies in my
home county have business numbers available to the public but someone
dialing that number in an emergency will end up being transfered to the
9-1-1 call center. and while that caller will reach the proper operator
that operator will *not* have the ANI/ALI data to fall back on if the caller
is disconnected. using a 7-digit number to contact police, fire and EMS in
an emergency may actually slow the response and deny the 9-1-1 operator
critical ANI/ALI data.

phone. Here in California, cell phone calls will probably wind up at a

figure out where you really are and transfer it to your local call center.
What I have done is to find out the local number that reaches the 911 call

that full local number. That way I get immediate response here in SF. I have

good idea. i'll give that a try.

Try setting up the "emergency" contact with a phone number like 911-1111 and see if that works. I once tried to call a friend with a phone # of 391-1xxx on a cordless phone and it didn't catch the first digit. I dialed the whole rest of the number and was very surprised to find myself connected to ems instead of my friend.
