World card does not come up in app search. Is it only for the 4s. Mine
is a 3gs.

I do a similar trick, however, I label my last name as A0 (zero) * ICE, etc.
That way the entry shows up as the first listing in the directory rather
than fumbling all the way down to the I's.

texting-phoning Contacts issue
Posted by: "Rasputin Novgorod" priapulus@yahoo.com priapulus
Sun Jan 22, 2012 8:58 am (PST)
I have a problem texting and phoning; no doubt, operator error.
1) TEXTING: I tap on "messages", "new message icon", "To, plus symbol";
and get transferred to contacts. In contacts, I find the person,
tap on the phone number I want to text, and it starts ~DIALING
A PHONE NUMBER~.
2) PHONING: I tap on "Phones", get transferred to contacts.
In contacts, I find the person, tap on the phone number I want to phone,
and it starts ~TEXTING THE PHONE NUMBER~.
Sometimes it does the desired action (text-phone)
from "contacts", sometimes not. If it's wrong, it gets stuck
there and the only way I can select the other action, is to
type in the phone number instead of selecting from
contacts.
Suggestions?
Sincerely

That's weird. Try "force closing" both Phone and Messages apps. Then restart.

According to the above, it looks like you're missing the tap on text message before tapping on number. I've forgotten to tap on text message and have dialed the number LOL it's easy to do since the text message option is at the bottom of the chosen entry.

On more thing that helps us first responders find you is to know
your location.
Know your location when you call. Often we get calls from incorrect
addresses, or an address of 111 S. main street when the call might be at 111 N. main street. Be aware of your surroundings. You never know when you need to call 911 for an emergency and when they ask where you are the right info helps us get there in a timely fashion.

Ive had these phantom emails come in the past. First on my BB many years
ago. Then they stopped.
Only happened with a Yahoo email account. never gmail or hotmail.
I also had some come in with a 1969 date on them. So when the phone sorts
them by date it goes to the bottom.
As one of the other posters mentioned, is this happening ONLY on your
iphone or on any device you use to check the email?
If its also in your in box on your computer or other device its not likely
an iphone issue..

One way to get rid of them is to quit the Mail app (on the iPhone).
Double click the Home button, a passing parade of 'alive' apps can be scrolled across the bottom of the screen, find the Mail icon, click on the little minus sign in the circle (=badge? is that what it's called?), the Mail icon will disappear (but do not worry, you can not delete the Mail app, it is permanently embedded by Apple).
Then click the Home button once, the scrolling line will disappear and the screen return to normal with the mail icon in place, click on it and you are back to usual with none of the 'No sender, no subject' annoyances.
BTW you can do this quit process with any of your 'alive' apps. Again, they will disappear but have not been deleted. To delete third party apps is a different process.

Handy Smart Playlists

I just uploaded a PDF called Handy Smart Playlists written by my friend Mark Sheppard. If you use or plan to use the iTunes Music Match, this PDF is for you. After Music Match is done, this PDF will help you create a few playlists that will help clean up your iTunes. The instructions are easy to follow, even for the new person just starting out. Any feedback would be appreciated. I'll pass it along to Mark Sheppard. It's the first PDF he's written.

Ears touching screen

I have a weird problem. Often when I'm speaking on my iPhone my ear touches either the speaker icon on the screen or the mute icon. I'm not sure if this is only me (I dont particularly have big ears) or is caused by way i hold the phone due to the leather case.
Anyone else having this problem ?

If your case is covering the front, it may be affecting the proximity sensor. You may want to try another case. If the trouble persists, it is a hardware issue. If the problem ceased, then it is the case.
