"SuperMeet Workshops" return to San Francisco, as part of the Eleventh Annual San Francisco SuperMeet to be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 at the UCSF Mission Bay Conference Center beginning at 10:00AM. Each 90 minute workshop will feature fresh content from Adobe, Blackmagic Design, Canon and Light Iron. Workshop attendees have twelve sessions to choose from and can choose a maximum of three workshops. Tickets for the "SuperMeet Workshops" can be purchased online.

Los Angeles, CA / Boston, MA - Final Cut , Adobe, Avid, Autodesk editors and digital filmmakers from around the world will once again gather together for the Eleventh Annual San Francisco SuperMeet, to be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 at the UCSF Mission Bay Conference Center in San Francisco, CA. As part of this years SuperMeet, the organizers have announced that the widely popular and affordable "SuperMeet Workshops" will also return. Tickets can be purchased online for only $5.00 - $10.00 (plus ticket fee) per class. Workshops will cost $15.00 per class at the door.

SuperMeet Workshops will be offered during the day prior to the SuperMeet beginning at 10:00AM. They will feature exciting and fresh content from Adobe, Blackmagic Design, Canon and Light Iron. Workshop attendees have twelve sessions to choose from and can choose a maximum of three workshops each. All workshops will be highly interactive, and are suitable for all levels of expertise.

Instructors Al Mooney and Kevin Monahan from Adobe will be hold three DIFFERENT 90 minute workshops focusing on Adobe Production Premium CS5, workflow and HDSLR filmmaking.

Canon USA Inc. will be conducting three 90 minute comprehensive seminars of their current professional product line, headlined by Canon's new C300 cinema camera as part of Canon's Cinema EOS series. Conducting these seminars will be Canon's Senior Professional Market Specialist, Jung-Jin Ahn.

Master colorist Alexis Van Hurkman will conduct three entirely different 90 minute classes on Blackmagic Design's DaVinci Resolve detailing features and capabilities such the advantages of real-time performance in color correction, as well as proper set up and integration with other tools. Beginners through advanced users will benefit from each of these classes.

CEO of Light Iron Post in Hollywood, Michael Cioni will speak on the implications of Digital Cinema in both production and post Production. Michael's lecture will reveal ways to best identify and prepare creatives for significant and rapid changes in the media ecosystem. This will be a highly interactive 90 minutes and the same workshop will be offered three times during the day.

The producers have indicated that some of these workshops have already reached capacity, but seats do remain for others. It is highly recommended that students purchase tickets quickly. Seats may be available at the door.

The workshops will end at 4:00PM at which time the doors open to the "SuperMeet Digital Showcase" featuring over 25 vendors, cash bars, free hors d'oeuvres and the "Open Screen Theater," where digital filmmakers get a chance to screen their own content in front of their peers. The SuperMeet stage show will begin at 7:00PM and will require a separate admission ticket.

Los Angeles, CA / Boston, MA - The agenda has now been set for the Eleventh Annual San Francisco SuperMeet, to take place on Friday, January 27, 2012 at the UCSF Mission Bay Conference Center in San Francisco, CA. Affordable educational SuperMeet Workshops will take place during the day beginning at 10:00AM. Doors to the SuperMeet open at 3:30PM and presentations begin at 7:00PM and continue until 11:00PM. * Director of Photography and Editor Curt Pair will share the pitfalls he avoided during the production of "Taken," for the A&E network, by using the "one tool he could not live without," the Matrox MXO2 LE.

* Knowing which tool is right for the job at hand is crucial. Adobe's Al Mooney will give a brief presentation on how to "accelerate your workflow with Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5.

* DigitalFilm Tree's CEO Ramy Katrib will present the World Premiere of a powerful mobile application that provides visual storytellers a platform to view, comment, and creatively collaborate on an iPad, iPhone or iPod touch.

* Filmmaker Jesse Rosten will screen his new video "Fotoshop," which recently and after only one week, accumulated over three million plays on Vimeo.com

* Technologist, editor and industry pundit Philip Hodgetts will take a look into the future of post production and production and tell us what we need to do to prepare for these changes.

Astana, Kazakhstan - You have, probably, heard of The Renaissance, seen Mona Lisa and a few other paintings by Leonardo Da Vinci. So have we, together with seeing a few documentaries and reading a couple of books. But something was missing, we could not "feel" the times he was living in, could not grasp the atmosphere in which Leonardo was creating his famous works. Without deeper knowledge, they remained just "pretty pictures" devoid of meaning and essence.

People are born into an existing environment and that environment and events of their life shape them and make them what they are. The Renaissance was a period of upheaval in arts and sciences that is famous for geniuses who transcended the existing thinking. Leonardo Da Vinci was one of those geniuses and a product of his times. We thought that putting Leonardo's works on a timeline of his life, would position then in context and aid in better understanding of his genius.

This is, by no means, a complete collection of Leonardo's works, neither is it a comprehensive study of his life but, it is a step towards a better understanding of Da Vinci's genius and it worked for us. We hope it works for you too.

Pistoia, Italy - Indie developer Luca Giusti today is pleased to introduce Blocks Hurt! 1.0 for iOS, his new action/puzzle Game that defies normal expectations about using blocks in gameplay. Combining elements from falling block, tower defense, and color matching arcade games, Blocks Hurt! lets players use blocks in multiple ways, for building or destroying. There are 90 battles with four goals each: Collect Blocks, Build the Wall, Survive Time, and Kill the Boss. Played in landscape orientation, players must prevent monsters from crossing from the far right to the far left of the screen. Any monster successfully reaching the left edge of the screen defeats the player and the battle ends.

Blocks Hurt! is always aware of its roots, and can be seen as a satire of many popular games. Its monsters go over the top in their evilness, whether they are a fruit, vegetable, straw man, or malevolent dictator. Monsters morph during gameplay, turning red as they get angrier and translucent when they return as ghosts. Ghoulish cries are heard as they advance, and a narrator occasionally comments in a deep voice "Hurry up," or "You lose."

There are three different battle locales: Windy Plains (gently rolling hills populated by Dutch windmills), Empty Desert (sand-filled expanse in the Middle East hosting caravans of camels and some nasty scorpions), and Mushrooms Vale (a wonderland of multi-colored fungi). There are 30 battles in each of the three locations, and each is scored individually.

There are four goals to each battle, and besides accomplishing the goals of that level, the player must prevent any monsters from successfully exiting on the left side of the screen. In the Collect Blocks part of each level players are given a task, e.g., 4 red blocks and 4 blue blocks, and must color match and stack blocks. This is not easy. A conveyor belt of blocks at the top of the screen is constantly bringing in new blocks, and touching any block causes it to fall. However, a horizontal or vertical stack of four matching blocks can have no gaps. Since many blocks do not perfectly align after being dropped, they must be removed (they explode on being touched) and replaced. Of course, as the player is attempting to create an orderly stack of blue blocks, demonic jack-o-lanterns are hopping across the screen, creating havoc.

During the Build the Wall goal players are given an outline of a wall of blocks that they must fill, and well-placed blocks display a rotating star. Care must be taken not to create a four-block color match, because that causes the blocks to disappear. Again, monsters are attempting to crash through the wall and reach the other side of the screen, so players must play defense and offense simultaneously, aiming blocks to build the wall or kill a monster.

Survive Time is pure defense as a timer counts down the seconds during a protracted and massive monster attack. Finally, the Kill the Boss goal requires skill and ingenuity to plan attacks that will be successful against giant-size monsters. During gameplay, the player does have access to special abilities and weapons, requiring Monster Juice, which is accumulated on his Juice Bar at the bottom of the screen. Powers include: electrocute, freeze, disintegrate, and slow down the enemy. A post-modern, action-puzzle, arcade-iDevice, matching-destroying, game filled with humor and the sounds of fruits and vegetables dropped from great heights, Blocks Hurt! is challenging, entertaining, and filled with surprises.

Like most iOS jigsaw puzzle games, this one, played in landscape orientation, employs a vertically scrolling tray that holds all the pieces of the puzzle. As a piece is dragged from the tray on to the white tabletop, it expands to its full size. This allows the user to browse through many individual pieces easily, since they do not assume their final size until dragged on to the board. At its most advanced level, where pictures are 26 pieces wide and 22 pieces high (572 total pieces), pieces dragged from the tray do not expand at all; they are already scaled correctly.

Many jigsaw puzzle games provide a view of the finished puzzle as a reference, but PuzzlePlus: Art eschews this possibility that would have the effect of reducing the challenge presented by the puzzle. Players will soon find that assembling oil paintings is more difficult than photos, simply because every part of a painting is more imaginative and less predictable than most photographic scenes. Puzzle champions can engage the "Rotate Piece" option, which allows pieces to be dragged from the tray oriented incorrectly. Each time the player double taps a piece, it rotates 90 degrees, thus the option effectively multiplies the complexity of each puzzle by a factor of four.

The reproduction of these masterworks is excellent, and the ability to zoom in and out facilitates the appreciation of subtle details of line and color. The touch interface performs perfectly, and dragging any piece creates a subtle shadow around it, as if it were being lifted and moved. Pieces that have been correctly assembled can be moved as a single unit, and pieces can be returned to the tray at any time until they are needed. Another feature that sets PuzzlePlus: Art apart from similar apps is that it is possible to cover one piece with another, simulating the confusion of apparently missing pieces, so common in doing actual jigsaw puzzles. For entertainment, laughter, accomplishment, and puzzlement have a friend over on a Saturday night to work on the 26x22, rotating pieces puzzle of Vincent van Gogh's classic Starry Night.

Gamepedia can catalog both video games and boardgames, providing access to several different international search sites for users to build their databases. Along with UI improvements and smaller bug fixes version 5.0.2 also includes updates to the sorting feature. This is a free update for all owners of Gamepedia 5.0.

Barcelona, Spain - Bruji today is pleased to announce version 5.0.2 of Gamepedia, their popular game cataloging application for the Mac. Gamepedia allows users to catalog both video games and boardgames, offering access to international search sites for keyword and barcode searches. Users can set up smart collections and folders to organize their games efficiently and also add links to entries, for example for screenshots, walkthroughs or game instructions. Gamepedia offers several different export options, including customizable HTML, and a statistics display for a useful overview of the database.

Version 5.0.2 includes several improvements to UI features, especially column sorting which has been updated to ignore suffixes such as "Jr.". Columns also re-sort themselves automatically now when an entry has been edited in a way that would affect the sorting. If the search for a game fails, the search text is now automatically placed into the clipboard for easy copy/pasting into the "Add manually" window afterwards. Changing between collections in the source column leaves the item view (list or grid view) selected for easier and faster use of keyboard shortcuts on entries.

For the HTML print templates, which are fully customizable by the user, Bruji has added a class named "pageBreak" for CSS styling, using the automatic page break feature. This lets users add, for example, page numbers with the CSS counter property when printing a collection over several pages.

Current supported scanners include the Fujitsu fi-6130Z, fi-6230Z, fi-6140Z, fi-6240Z, fi-5530C2, fi-4340C, fi-6670, fi-6770, fi-5950C and fi-6800 models.
