Previously available as separate apps for iPhone and iPad VLC Remote is now universal - one app will work on your iPhone and your iPad. No need to buy two copies. Responding to user feedback the universal app features a completely new design for iPad making powerful advanced controls available in a stylish side panel, including a graphic equalizer. With the universal VLC Remote you get full control at a glance - from your iPhone AND your iPad.
As VLC Remote was previously sold as separate iPhone and iPad apps. Both will now be updated to universal apps. Unfortunately there is no way to merge the two existing listings in the app store. This means Hobbyist needs to keep both live to ensure that anyone who has previously paid for VLC Remote gets access to the new universal VLC Remote. So the universal VLC Remote will still appear in the app store for iPad or iPhone, but either app will work on both devices.

Digital-Storytime's iPad Best of the Best, with Free books for ages 2-12 - Published on 09/05/12

Digital Storytime's editor, Carisa Kluver, has selected 50 book apps for kids from the past year for her annual "Essential Children's Book Apps for iPad" post in the blog, The Digital Media Diet. The final part of this 4 part series, broken down by age, was just published! It has great titles for Toddlers, Pre-Schoolers, Elementary School Aged Kids and even Tweens! Includes free books for every age level.
Seattle, Washington - Last summer, Digital Storytime identified 25 Top book apps for 2011, but in 2012 the market has simply exploded! This year we decided to feature the Top 50 "Best of the Best" book apps for the iPad, just in time for Back-to-School. These are all fully reviewed books, rated on our 9-point scale.
Presented in the blog, The Digital Media Diet, the list includes four sections, for ages under 3 (toddlers), ages 3-5 (preschoolers), ages 6-8 (elementary) and ages 9-12 (tweens). The list also includes some of the Best titles to come out so far in 2012, and all four lists have the top Free titles listed at the end.
"I have been so impressed (and overwhelmed) in 2012 by the sheer volume of exceptional books for kids in app form for the iPad," says Digital-Storytime co-founder, Carisa Kluver. "We even have a substantial list of over 50 titles I recommend to my own friends, all free. I often suggest this list as a great starting point for new iPad owners, teachers and parents, especially when looking to build their digital library on a budget.
