Blame Google Reader Team - I can NOT stand or use the new version. For
those of you who don't use/like/read my forwarded news, you will be excited
as I will be posting a fraction of what I used to, at least until I can
find a multi-platform RSS handler than allowed me to do what Google Reader
did.

I really like Good Reader. It has allowed me not to have to bring my MBP or my MBA on short overnight or two day trips. I take lots of pictures with my Canon 50D. I can offload the pictures onto my iPad, put them into Good Reader, zip them into 1 file and upload them to Dropbox. I do the uploads overnight. It's saved having to buy a lot of cards for my camera.

But then you miss the serendipity of running across things you didn't even
know you'd find interesting.

And, WRT news, you'd miss things you probably should at least hear a whiff
about.

I've heard all kinds of excuses why a hotel key card gets demagnetized. One person told me it was because it was put in a leather wallet. So to this day, I don't know why hotel key cards get demagnetized.

SIRI does not seem to be able to find her network today. Worse, now I can even voice dial. When SIRI is down, it's worse than when SIRI didn't exist. Also, she doesn't play well with my bluetooth automobile. Now I have the car and SIRI to deal with.

I would just change your mail setting so you need to manually receive
mail, not automatically. Then delete the *password* from the mail
account. That way even if he does get into your mail, he won't be able
to pull anything new down.

RoboForm Questions Opinions

Used Roboform for years but now with all of the iDevices, PCs (No Macs),
etc. have to upgrade to the Everywhere version that is by yearly
subscription. Not happy about that. Have looked at LastPass, 1Password and
all involve buying something and or subscriptions.

Roboform has been nice as it ties into various browsers and will auto go to
a site and enter the PW. Can have some PWs with a security lock that
require you to type in an extra PW before seeing/using. -Like bank PWs.
General PWs to like the library or email accounts are in Roboform but open
to anyone once you are into the computer. Roboform also has a place for
notes so I can keep things like the security questions and answers in the
same place as the website.

So before spending the bucks to upgrade Roboform...

Looking for thoughts, ideas, suggestions on how to handle Securely, a
million passwords.

Thanks

I used RoboForm some time ago when I came across it as one of the downloadable programs on a thumb drive. But for the past couple of years I've been using LastPass and it's served me very well. The premium version ($12/year) is the only one that works with iPhone, but the free version works across desktop platforms. I use it on my laptop (Win7) and the bookmarklets work on my work computer (Mac 10.3.9 running a very old version of Firefox as the web browser). It also takes secure notes and I think it can force a prompt for the master password on sites on a case-by-case basis.

I looked at some of the others like 1Password or Password Wallet and such, but LastPass won out for me because I was already using it on my computer. I haven't looked closely at RoboForm's iPhone app (I think I downloaded it once but just gave it a cursory look after), but if it serves your needs well enough at a cost you are OK with, you might consider it because of your familiarity with the computer version, especially if it already stores a lot of passwords and notes.

I am going to get a Wi-fi + 3G iPad 2. Please tell me how data plan works with AT&T. I tried calling them but got no intelligent answer. Do I have unlimited data like on my phone? Do I buy specified number of minutes? Help, please.

For $25.00/month, plus taxes (of course) you get 2gb of data. You don't have to get the data plan, but if you do, they automatically renew it every month. Thes'e no term or commitment... its month to month.

You are issued what looks like a phone number for your account, but that's not an actual phone number.

I don't know what the charges are for going over the 2gb limit... probably $5 to $10 for 500mb, or something like that.

I've had my iPad 2 since June and haven't gone over the data limit yet. I spend more time in wifi that on 3g.

But get ready... you're going to love it!

There is also $14.99 for 200MB (about 1/8th the data for $10.01 less than
the $25 plan. I believe the overage is $10 for each 1GB over 2GB and you
can turn it on or off at any time. If you have an AT&T account you can put
it on your existing account and post-pay for it.

Hi Sue:
I have the iPad you have mentioned. You can add a data plan through your settings options for 3G. There are two options, 250 mb for $15.00 or 2 GB for $25.00. Both are for one month. You can add more in the month if needed. I've never added, so not sure if you have the 250 mb plan and need additional data, you must buy the 2GB plan to get you through the month. You can cancel anytime. I don't think this is handled through AT&T. Others might have input. As far as I know there is no unlimited plan.

I'm sorry but I don't know how to start a new thread about ipad2 so I will ask here. Is there a way to use a USB memory plug in device with a ipad2 without using a computer? I want to be able to transport my pictures to Costco to be printed. I have tried to plug a USB cable with one end in my iphone4 and the other end into the photo interface at Costco but it didn't work.

The data plan is a "pay as you go" kind of plan. In other words, you do not need to have any kind of a contract for this plan. However, it will automatically renew unless you cancel it. So, if you are like me, you might want it for one time period but not another, and that's great, because you can sign up for it, say, 2 days before you travel, use it while you're gone, and then cancel it before the auto-renewal.

You either get 200MB for $14.99 per month or 2G for $25 per month.

A good way to avoid going over your total is to keep location services off unless you need that feature. I might even put mine on airplane mode when I'm not using it to avoid sucking data unintentionally, and I just take it off airplane mode when I want to use data.

I'm an AT&T customer and have 2 ipads, one that is on a data plan right now and one that is not.

Enjoy yours!

Patti

Update snafu

Well, I decided to take the plunge and update my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5. It took hours, but seemed to go well. Then I tried to use some apps. The only ones that work are Calendar, Phone (thank the goddess) Safari, Notes and a couple other Apple apps. All the others crash immediately on opening, even iBooks and the newspaper in Newsstand. I've tried a reboot but no joy.

What should I try next? I made sure to update all the apps via iTunes and sync before i did the iOS update. I'm afraid to sync with iTunes again. I don't want to screw up my last backup in case I need to do a restore.

I'm really lost here. I hope someone has a solution to offer. I'm leaving town in less than a week. I don't have much time to get my phone working again. Help!

One other observation. Though Messages is working, I don't think iMessage is. When I send a text to another iPhone the message is green rather than the blue it should be if iMessage is functioning. Don't know what's up with that either.

Cathy, iMessage only works between two iOS5 devices. Did they have iOS5, also?
