Macworld has a free starter guide which is available in iBooks along with the official guide from Apple. It also should be available on their website too.
Thanks,

Hi there,
Which is the best product to use from the Mophie range in relation to the
4S?

I have had the Air since it was released last October and just got the Plus
when they had their "Halloween Sale" - I prefer the plus because it has 20%
more battery but it is slightly heavier and thicker...

I have the Mophie regular case (not plus) I go from 6:30am to about
1pm on the case's battery before it dies and starts to use the
internal iPhone battery. The iPhone battery then takes me to about
8:00pm. I am a heavy user. I always have Bluetooth on for my LG
HBS-700 headset (if you don't have these, you don't know what you are
missing)
While I like the case, I would buy the current offer from Costco for
the Phonesuit Elite charging case bundle. Search for phonesuit and
Costco in Google to find it.
It is backed ordered but worth the wait.
The phonesuit elite case bundle
Is slimmer
Has extra slip off cap
Has 2100mAh battery instead of 1500 or 2000
Has a car charger
Has transparent film
Quick charges in 2 hrs
Is $64.99 for all this!
The Phonesuit Elite is normally $79.99 without the extras.
Thanks,

While I normally advise to buy directly from Mophie or Amazon, neither of
them are currently having a sale - Buy.com has the JP Plus for $76 and
Wal-Mart supposedly has it for $67 although they don't have it available
for online ordering, states "Price Varies by Store". I ordered min from
Mophie with a 15% off coupon - they have a 15-20% off sale at every holiday
(no matter how minor)...

Yes. I did it and it worked for me. After updating to iOS 5 on my 3GS all my non-Apple apps were crashing on opening. I picked out a free game from the App store at random and downloaded it. After that all the apps behaved normally again.

For one, hotel cards are much thinner so the magnetic strip can be physically closer to a cell phone's radio waves. It's also possible the magnetic strip itself is thinner and has a less powerful magnetic field that can be altered more easily.

The 2.5 min video I'm trying to email is off the iphone 4. Can I just plug
it into the computer and download it directly . . . somehow? It's a video I
took for someone and need to send it to the person.
Thanks.

What computer do you use? On a Mac, plug in the iPhone and launch iPhoto. All your fotos and videos appear when your iPhone 'device' shows up on the left of the display. You can then move it to your collection of fotos/videos stored on your Mac.

ok, I played with this on my seldom used Windows XP machine. Set iTunes so that it will not start up when you plug the iPhone into your computer. Now when you plug it in Windows will detect a camera has been attached and give you the normal options for uploading files and/or pictures.

Likes and dislikes of both?

iPhone 4 Newbe Questions

I've managed to talk myself into buying the iPhone4 16GB from AT&T with the 2 GB data plan. Its my first smart phone so I have a couple of dumb questions.
First and foremost I will need an app to track my online usage, unless that function is built in. If I do need an app could someone please recommend one?
Second from my online browsing it appears that there is a map function built in. My guess is that if I wanted to use it as a GPS for driving directions I will would have to be online to make that happen. Would that be feasible with the 2 GB data package? Or does the phone have a built in GPS that works without being online?
Thank you for your kind assistance.

There are 2 general classes of GPS app.
1. Guidance algorithms are built-in; maps are downloaded - over Wifi when possible, or using your cellular data.
2. The app is 1.5 gigabytes, giver or take, because the entire map - and point of interest - database is built into the app, and data connection is used only for traffic updates.
I started using GPS with a Garmin in 1998. My current Garmin has been relegated to my wife's minivan, because I use the TomTom App (with data built-in) for guidance now.

The app is MyATT.
Another way to track usage is to reset the stats (settings-general-usage) at
the beginning of each billing cycle. (I have that on my calendar) This saves
signing in to the ATTapp quite so much just to get a rough idea of usage
(voice & data).

Often times, there will be multiple wi-fi signals available in places such as hospitals. As I recall, "open" systems will not have a little lock icon next to them on the listing, while secured ones will have a lock icon. Even if it is an open system, often times in public places you will need to agree to usage terms before being granted access. If all else fails, ask someone who you see using the wi-fi what they had to do.

Ask the information desk for wifi access info & passwords. There may or may
not be some restrictions on who can get it free or at what charges.
Some free-wifi sites will require you to "sign in" by accepting the terms of
service. I just click ok & remember not to do anything sensitive on an open
system.
