Thanks in advance, Tom

I have been doing that for a couple of years. When I changed my email address I discovered that I have to log in to the original account on iTunes then log off and sign in to the new account on iTunes. Works fine. Cant even tell it on the phone.

I'm trying to play the same game under two different accounts so I can have twice as many games going.

UPS is delivering my new ~unlocked~ iPhone 4s, direct from the Apple Store today.

This is my ~first~ cell phone; though I'm reasonably computer literate.
I have installed itunes on my computer, and wi-fi in my apartment, and
have an Apple TV and Apple Store account.

I haven't chosen a carrier yet; I'm still shopping the various plans. But
I want to set up everything else and get it going on wifi. What should I do
to set my new phone up, and in what order? How do I check the iOS version?
I suppose the first thing is to load the newest OS?

Advice for phone setup appreciated.

Sincerely,
/b.

IOS version - Setting / General / About - scroll down a little for the IOS version.

As for carrier - that ends up being a religious discussion. I can tell you I have very good, robust coverage in Dallas, Houston, and Los Angeles, with LA being especially important for my daughter's acting career. When it absolutely, positively has to work - there is no "late" to auditions or call times. Verizon audio quality was terrible and she lost a part to a dropped call. With ATT, no such problems even in the mountains and valleys out there.

Of course somebody else could have equally important calls in other cities like New York, Chicago, Atlanta, SF, etc. Perhaps Verizon shines there and ATT sucks. I guess it comes down to where you are and how you use the phone - maybe down to which routes you take.

4S should do GSM and CDMA, which covers all US carriers (although T-Mobile with an iPhone takes a little creativity).

An easier way ---

Free app "Commander Compass Lite"

Comes up with that usual "allow it to use your location" prompt. Once you do, it comes up with the compass screen with your GPS location in upper right.

What isn't so obvious is tapping in the black area on lower right, which brings up menu items. top of 3 on right does screen capture.
Next one does locations. Bottom right, then location is satellite/map.

Bruce, "Commander Compass Lite" is a nice app. Wish I knew what the
difference is in the lite and full version.

backlight

Well my iPhone4 (iOS 5.01) mysteriously has stopped going to sleep and is leaving the backlight on all the time unless I force it off with the button. Seems there is a setting to control the time the backlight stays on that I should check but darn if I can find it. Could someone point me the way?
Thanks
