IQideas have successfully ported their award-winning, table top game, the miQube Boardgame and Puzzle, to the iPad. miQube 3D combines the challenge of the Rubiks Cube with the fun and excitement of Tetris. Offering are three different levels of difficulty, the goal of the game is to place colored pieces on a grid to make shapes of varying degrees of complexity. There are 13 pieces that can be flipped and rotated in 3 dimensions, and then combined to form an endless array of shapes.

Havelock North, New Zealand - The multi award-winning miQube Boardgame and Puzzle was launched worldwide by IQideas in 2005. Since then it has sold thousands of copies and won a number of prestigious international awards, including the acclaimed Parents Choice Foundation and Major Fun Thinking Awards.

IQideas have now launched an iPad version of their highly successful product. The goal of the game is to place colored pieces on a grid to make shapes of varying degrees of complexity. There are 13 pieces that can be flipped and rotated in 3 dimensions, and then combined to form an endless array of shapes. The easier challenges can be made using only 1 or 2 pieces but the level of complexity increases dramatically in the later challenges which require 3, 4 or more different pieces to be combined in just the right way to solve them.

The final challenge involves using all 13 pieces to form a 4 x 4 x 4 cube on the grid, reminiscent of the Rubiks(C) Cube. The developer is offering an undisclosed prize to the first person who can screen capture this almost impossible achievement. There are three different levels of difficulty in the app; Easy, Medium and Hard. The Easy level is un-timed while the other 2 levels have timers which countdown at different rates, closing down a challenge if it hasn't been completed within a given time frame. miQube 3D has been described in reviews as "fun and challenging".

AppAdvice commented in their review of the app that "Fans of complex, brain-teasing puzzles will not be disappointed in this perplexing game."

The developer notes, however, that on the easiest level of difficulty, the 1st and 2nd level challenges can be accomplished by almost anyone with a desire to give it a go and a bit of determination. A Lite version of the app is available for free download which contains 3 challenges across the first 5 levels - 15 challenges in total.

Remoter Labs today announces Remoter VNC 3.2.1 for iOS, an update to their productivity app that allows users to remotely control Macs via Screen Sharing, and Windows or Linux PCs using the VNC or RDP standards right from their iOS devices. The app uses Bonjour to make setup a cinch, and also features a novel "virtual trackpad" to precisely control of the mouse cursor. Sound redirection, RDP, Telnet and SSH which also allows for secure VNC/RDP over SSH, are available as in-app purchases.

Vestal, New York - Remoter Labs today is pleased to announce the release of Remoter VNC 3.2.1 for iPhone and iPad, an update to their productivity app that enables users to remotely control Macs via Screen Sharing, and Windows or Linux computers using the VNC or RDP standards right from their iOS devices. The app uses Bonjour and NetBIOS to make setup a cinch, and it features a novel and highly praised "virtual trackpad" that allows to control the mouse cursor intuitively. RemoterFusion, which provides sound redirection and easy setup, RDP, Telnet and SSH support are available as in-app purchases.

The app offers one of the fastest implementations of the VNC and RDP protocols on the iOS platform. Operation is intuitive, with a well thought out interface that allows users to either tap on the screen and have taps converted into clicks on the remote system, or use a unique "virtual trackpad" that gives users precise control, and ease of use. A drag or stylus mode on the iPad version is also provided, which gives users the ability of easily dragging items, or drawing on their computers directly from their iPad just by using their fingers or a stylus.

On Macs, setup is now ultra-simple with the RemoterFusion add-on. Port-forwarding and/or dynamic DNS is no longer needed in order to establish connections from outside the computer's network. This add-on also provides sound redirection, which allows listening to music tracks, or any sound playing remotely on the computer from the iOS device. RemoterFusion can be tested for free for 24 hours.

Otherwise, local session set-up is still simple, all the computers from the WiFi network are found using both the Bonjour and NetBIOS standards. The user then taps on the desired connection, and all queried information such as computer name, IP address, service port, and more auto-populates the set-up screen. The user then only needs to enter the VNC password to complete setup. A button labeled "Advanced" reveals many useful advanced options, like color depth, server scaling setting, compression level and more.

The new RDP add-on allows connecting to Windows computers that include an RDP server (Remote Desktop Protocol). This allows connecting to these machines without having to install a server, as is the case with VNC.

Via the SSH add-on, the app allows users to establish secure and tunneled VNC, or RDP if the RDP add-on is also used, connections to their computer desktop. This add-on also gives users the ability of establishing terminal connections to any SSH server. Featuring full terminal control, including special keys such as Control, Alt, F1-F14. Terminal support implements font foreground and background color, a terminal buffer, and clicking. SSH authentication includes both passwords and private/public key support. A fully featured SSH Key manager allows users to create SSH keys using RSA or DSA. Passphrases can also be set, and independent SSH keys can be used for each SSH session.

The SSH add-on also gives users the ability of create up to five TCP tunnels. The tunnels can then be accessed while the app is in the background by any other app on the iOS device. Providing a VPN connection to the SSH server. Background connections can stay active for a full ten minutes.

The Telnet add-on enables users to connect to server computers using the Telnet protocol. Like with SSH, the app provides full color support, a terminal buffer, and special keys.

Both the SSH and Telnet add-ons allow for selection of text which is then synchronized with the device's pasteboard, and can then be pasted within the application, or into any other app.

The app features a sleek connection selection interface that is controlled by swiping on the iOS device to graphically select the desired connection. For professional users that have many connections, a "Session Selection" screen is also available. This option presents a list view of all available connections. Sessions can be sorted by name, type or usage.

Wake-on-LAN support is also built-in, when the server session is setup using Bonjour or NetBIOS, the MAC address is automatically populated. Otherwise the field is provided to allow the user to populate it manually. Wake-on-LAN can then be sent either from the main screen of the app, or via the session selection screen.

Macros can also be created and run. Macro support is included for VNC, RDP, SSH and Telnet sessions, and a Macros manager allows for renaming and deleting of existing macros.

The app is extremely configurable, in the "Remoter Config" screen users can select from a variety of options to best suit their needs. Options such as trackpad type and acceleration, visual clicks, international keyboard support for OS X are included.

While connected to a server, the app supports both landscape and portrait mode, full-screen mode, different pre-set zoom levels, along with a smooth pinch-to-zoom interface. Pasteboard synchronization is also supported for all connection modes. External keyboard support, either USB or Bluetooth is also provided.

This educational application utilizes a uniquely structured approach to transform computer novices into competent keyboarders quickly and efficiently. XType includes fifteen sequentially more difficult lessons and the app offers both English and Arabic language typing options as well. MEI, an Adobe premier development partner and a leading provider of software solutions for publishers, announced that the iPad app version of "The Beatles Ultimate Album-by-Album Guide" special-interest publication is now available for download.

MEI, an Adobe(R) premier development partner and a leading provider of software solutions for publishers, announced that the iPad app version of "The Beatles Ultimate Album-by-Album Guide" special-interest publication is now available for download.

Wenner Media, the publisher of Rolling Stone and other popular magazines, looked to MEI's team of digital-publishing specialists to help build the app using a combination of custom development and the Adobe Digital Publishing Suite(TM). MEI guided the production process, including training on the Adobe DPS software, editorial workflow development, template creation, app construction and final submission to Apple.

Wenner is also using the vjoon K4(TM) Cross-Media Publishing Platform, integrated with Adobe InCopy(R) and InDesign(R), to manage the project from soup to nuts. MEI designed an iPad publishing workflow that operates alongside Wenner's print process - Rolling Stone has been managed with the K4 publishing system since 2008 - tapping into an all-new medium using existing content and familiar tools. MEI is the exclusive distributor of vjoon K4 in the Americas.

"MEI worked closely with us to make sure the app captured all the great information from our print product and expanded it with immersive and visually appealing tablet features," said Paul Leung, system administrator for Wenner Media. "Their expertise and custom development were integral to the success of this project."

"The Beatles Ultimate Album-by-Album Guide" is a comprehensive companion to the 13 albums released by the legendary rock group. For each recording, the app provides a main article, a playlist with audio samples and a link to purchase the tracks, an extra "Testimonial" story, pictures and more. It takes the wealth of Beatles history showcased in Rolling Stone's original print album guide and transforms it into a full-featured iPad experience, enhanced with interactivity and engaging content only available in the tablet version.

MEI engineered the specialized audio playlist, which streams song samples directly from iTunes. Not only does this make for a convenient user experience, allowing readers to instantly hear and purchase the music they're learning about, it also provides a new revenue stream for Wenner - as part of Apple's Affiliate Program, the publisher gets a percentage of iTunes sales made through the app.

MEI also played a major role in the iPad publication's layout by helping Wenner build templates and implement interactive features using Adobe DPS, including multi-state objects, hyperlinks and touch-activated buttons. MEI's experts trained Wenner editors on the digital publishing tools and helped them configure and submit the final product for release to the iTunes App Store.

Additionally, vjoon K4's industry-leading connectivity with Adobe DPS made the project much easier. By managing most of the project - including its interactive elements - within the vjoon K4 database, MEI enabled an efficient process for Wenner to port its print-based SIP as a rich iPad app. The app was even bundled for release directly within vjoon K4, thanks to the vjoon K4 DPS Connector.

"We were able to implement a workflow that really highlights our traditional design and editorial strengths, but also helps us enhance that content by adapting it to a new platform," Leung said.

Using vjoon K4 and Adobe DPS to manage its tablet publications will help Wenner produce new ones in the future.

Sheep Systems announced today that BookMacster is one of fourteen apps in TheMacBundles December Bundle. Coincidentally, BookMacster can now push bookmarks into iCloud. Firefox, Google Chrome or other browsers bookmarks can now be synced not only with those of Safari on the Mac, but with Safari on an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. BookMacster is the replacement for Sheep Systems' legacy app, Bookdog. Bookdog licensees receive a discount when purchasing a BookMacster license.

San Jose, California - TheMacBundles December bundle, released earlier this week, includes Sheep Systems' BookMacster, the Master Bookmarks Manager App for the Mac. The bundle of fourteen Mac apps, with a retail value of $474 USD, is available now for $49.95 USD.

Just in time for this news is an update, BookMacster 1.9, which can push bookmarks into Apple's new iCloud service. "As users switch from MobileMe to iCloud, many are finding that their favorite third-party bookmarks syncing app, which worked with MobileMe, cannot push changes into iCloud," says Sheep Systems' Chief Engineer Jerry Krinock. "We figured out how to do it last week, and the result is BookMacster 1.9. Safari bookmarks are no longer isolated in iCloud."

Dubbed "The bookmarks master for the Mac", BookMacster merges and manages bookmarks in Safari, Firefox, Google Chrome, Camino, iCab, Opera and OmniWeb, and on the web with Delicious, Pinboard, and Google Bookmarks. When used with a file-syncing service in the cloud such as Dropbox(TM) or Jungle Disk(TM), BookMacster takes cross-browser bookmark syncing on the road to any Mac. BookMacster keeps bookmarks alphabetized (sorted), verified, and checked for duplicates. BookMacster supports tags, comments, and shortcuts. BookMacster users can add bookmarks directly from within browsers, and access all bookmarks while in any app, using a keyboard shortcut, status item ("menulet"), Dock menu, menu items in Firefox, or a Toolbar button in Google Chrome. (A Firefox Add-On and Google Chrome Extension are included in the BookMacster package and installed automatically.)

The Bundle:
"I like TheMacBundles because its founder Steve Becker really does run it, as he calls it, like a 'Farmers Market'. Costs are low and so users get a really great value" says Krinock, Sheep Systems' Chief Engineer. "It's almost like a cooperative among developers." The other thirteen apps in the bundle are Bevy, CrossOver Games Mac, iDeal CRM, iDupe and Calibrate Bundle, iMedia Converter, iTube Studio, Macintosh Explorer, maComfort Premium, Slink, SuperCal, Super Flexible File Synchronizer Pro, and Yummy FTP.

Bookmacster And Bookdog:
BookMacster is the replacement for Sheep Systems' legacy app, Bookdog. "You can only add a limited number of stories on to an old house," explains Chief Engineer Jerry Krinock. "It was time to move on." Bookdog licensees receive a discount when purchasing a BookMacster license.

Pricing and Availability:
Thoughtful of people whose Mac time sometimes gets interrupted by real life, BookMacster allows three activations of its 3-day free trial period. The BookMacster license included in TheMacBundles December bundle for $49.95 USD is the same full license which is available from BookMacster's store for $22.95 USD, with the same features, support, and future upgrade rights. Using a digital stop watch interface, Cost Watch shows the running totals for the time and personnel cost of an event, alerting the watchers with color and amusing sound when time and cost limits are reached. For those of us who have endured the frustration of non-productive meetings, Cost Watch gives us a way to gently remind the well-intentioned speaker to get to the point.

Portland, Oregon - Little Dog LLC is pleased to announce Cost Watch 1.0 for iOS, a simple and fun way to monitor meeting costs. Using a digital stop watch interface, Cost Watch shows the running totals for the time and personnel cost of an event, alerting the watchers with color and amusing sound when time and cost limits are reached.

When the time limit is reached, the counter turns red and a young voice exclaims "uh oh". When a multiple of the cost level is reached, the sound plays and the cost counter turns red, fading back to black. For those of us who have endured the frustration of non-productive meetings, Cost Watch gives us a way to gently remind the well-intentioned speaker to get to the point and back to their desk. Let them see and hear the costs while they are droning on:

* Familiar stop watch interface
* Reset button restarts the time and money counters
* Start/Stop button pauses and resumes the counters
* LCD style counters update every half second
* Sound and color alerts when limits are reached

Cost Watch features a settings screen that allows entry of number of attendees, meeting title, average annual salary, employee overhead cost, time limit and cost alert level. Alert sounds can be turned on/off.

Truly an all-purpose database app, iDB works just as well cataloging a home library as tracking a business's accounts receivable. The user has easy access to every detail, including various font sizes, colors, and bold or plain, icon color, summary method, and summary field. For example, the sample Books template allows the user to view their collection in one of three views: List, Detail, or Summary. Each of the three views can be customized to suit the user's preferences. General Settings include Sort Field (e.g., Title, Ascending in provided sample), Quick Pick Title Field (e.g., Author), Quick Pick Subtitle Field (e.g., Title), and Filters (e.g., Mysteries). List View Settings include: List View Fields Setup (e.g., four of ten fields displayed - Author, Title, Description, and Cover Image), Background Color (e.g., White), Alternate Color (e.g., Blue), and Grouping (e.g., Enabled - Normal Method by Author; Summary Method - Count). Detail View Settings for this sample template
include: Author, Title, Genre, Format, Number of Pages, Price, Cover Image, Description, Owned Yes/No, and Date Last Read.

The Summary view is especially useful and not often found in database apps for mobile devices. The Database Summary for the Books template includes all the 10 categories included in the Detail View. For each category, it provides information not about a single book, but the entire collection. For example, the Author field displays the number of different Authors represented in the whole library; the Number of Pages field indicates the sum total of pages, average number of pages, and minimum and maximum pages in any book; the Price field displays the cost of the entire library, plus the average cost per book, etc.

iDB includes built-in Internet connectivity, allowing the user to email any Record or Summary. The app also provides integrated import and export of CSV files. The Quick Pick function lets users browse through data quickly, according to their chosen category. Finally, a powerful search function permits the user to locate any word or string in any record.
