There is no religion about which carrier to use.

Which one works best where you will use it most or sucks the least? Then it is just a question of which offers the best price. Officially there are only 3 available in the US, although we have heard of people who have gotten it to work with T-mobile, and it may even be possible that it may work with a few more.

Picking a carrier that does not have coverage in your area or that can not provide you with a micro-SIM, just won't work. Unless you like having a very, very expensive iPod Touch.

Don't worry about that until you have chosen a carrier. I'm on AT&T, but Verizon may be on a different version. I don't know.

Iphone 2g help

Posted by: "alyssa.ariella" alyssa.ariella@yahoo.com   alyssa.ariella

Hi everyone! Wonder if anyone can help me out here. I recently bought a
used iphone 2g on ebay a couple of weeks ago. I bought the 2g for my
nephew who persistently persuaded me to get one for him. I figured a 2g
would do just fine for him, and that it was fairly cheap. The 2g is
supposed to be jailbroken and unlock. But when I insert my sim card into
it , the iphone goes searching for a network and ends up with no
service. I had wifi connection when I first received the iphone. But a
few days ago the wifi connection cannot be detected by the iphone and
thus no connection is made. Now I cannot use the 2g to make calls or use
it as an ipod to browse the web. Any idea what's wrong with the iphone?
Or what I should do to start it working again?

I've been getting a lot of spam which I've been forwarding to Apple at spam@me.com. They've sent a response asking me to send the messages as attachments. I can't see any way to do that with iOS 5.01 or with Snow Leopard Mail.

What am I missing here? All I can find is the plain, garden variety "Forward."

Hi Cathy,

I think you need to save the message first as a Raw Message using Save As to your desktop. Then you just start a new message and attach the original message from your desktop.

I enjoy carrying my smartphone in a matching bag attached to my belt.
The belt goes through an attached loop
It features. The bag cover (lid?) can be fastened using velcro.

This way, I know where my phone is, and that it won't be gone without
me noticing that.
The bag features an open compartment under the cover and a compartment
with a zipper. Both might be perfect for credit cards. However, the
(vertical) zipper tends to open by itself. It cost me a headset.

It is a sibling of <http://www.golla.com/#/en/products/preview/G1137>,
assuming the wider part of the loop hides behind the bag.

Note:
For my preceding smartphone I have a "holster" that clips over the
belt. That way, it can slide off unnoticed.
I had already been concerned about things sliding out of pockets.

SENA Cases and Griffintechnologies.com make good ones, In fat on CyberMonday I ordered a Griffin Passport wallet case and got a free A-Frame stand. 12south's "BookBook" wallet case is really popular among my colleagues at work, it looks from the outside, like an old booklet"
<http://twelvesouth.com/products/bookbook_iphone/> I wanted to get one and paint "The DaVinci Code" on the cover in gold. LOL!

The least expensive of these three would be the Passport wallet case by Griffin tech.

SENA's as well as the other wallets do not normally have the camera hole punched out, so he may want to see about getting a camera hole punched into the back. Here are two, one; the Hampton Wallet DOES have the camera recess.
<http://www.senacases.com/apple/iphone-4-cases/walletslim/> Slender case with card slots in back
<http://www.senacases.com/apple/iphone-4-cases/hampton-wallet/> I like the red, but there's a black and an edgy black/white.

They can also be pretty expensive. Griffin's was the cheapest in this trio I'm talking about. I got the platinum colour with wrist strap, the black is a 'man's' wallet: <http://store.griffintechnology.com/iphone/elan-passport-wallet-912>

Was in my local news this morning that these cases are being recalled, seems they may overheat and catch on fire. I had one for my old 3GS but threw it away after a few months. Wish I'd kept it because best buy will refund $65 for a recalled case. Do a google search. For more info.

Just upgraded from 3gs to 4s question

I just got my new 4s last night, early Christmas present, and I was wondering, does the new 4s require a different sized screen protector and a different sized case from the 3gs?

Completely different case; no screen protector needed.

Jim, I have an otterbox for my 4a which has a "screen cover" already built in but if I didn't have that case, why wouldn't I put a screen protector on it? Just curious. Thanks

I'm using a 3G screen protector with a 4 - I had a pack I'm not about to throw away. The speaker and home button spacing is slightly different - no big deal. The 3GS screen protector doesn't have a hole for the camera lens by the speaker, but the quality doesn't suffer. If you really want to do it right, get a hole puncher and punch a hole.

1. My personal experience is that iPhones in my shirt pocket daily for nearly 3 years have acquired no screen scratches.

2. Corning's Gorilla Glass is harder than almost anything short of diamond, and can't be scratched by anything short of diamond. It can be *broken* – notably by an edge-impact – which is why a bumper or case is helpful.

So my question is: why *would* you put a screen "obscurer" on it?

It just quit! Any ideas?

I've had my iPhone 4 since July of 2010. It has never given me any problems till 3 days ago when the ear speaker just quit working. Everything else works fine. I can use both bluetooth and the ear buds without any problems. Plus it works if I put it on speaker phone. Has anyone else had this problem? How did you fix it? Suggestions?

Sounds like it could be lint in the headphone tunnel. If there's lint in there, the phone thinks its always got headphones on, so the ear speaker won't work. Do you have some canned spray you could blow into the hole?

It could be that simple. I hope for your sake.

Presuming it hasn't been abused (e.g., wetted, or dropped and a connection broke), the first thing I would try is hard re-boot (press and hold Home and On/Off until the Apple appears, then let it complete the boot cycle).

My next thought is, did you buy Applecare or a Square Trade warranty, which would still be covering it at 17 months?

Actually, at least in the US, Apple has a 2 year warrantee, so it
would just need to the apple store, or call apple care and they
will set you up with the proper people to exchange the phone.

Organizing files on iPhone/iPad

Is there a way to organize folders and apps on iphone 4 and ipad 2 to make it easier to find things -- like alphabetical, perhaps, the way you can on a computer dektop?
I don't like the names that are automatically given to folders because they're too generic. And after I have a few screensful of apps and lots of folders, it becomes very difficult to find what I need.
Thanks.

You can rename folders, but not apps. Open a folder and tap the X next
to the name to rename it.

iTunes.
"Automatic sorting"? No.

Change them.

Swipe left-to-right from the left-most Home screen, and there's your *search* screen.
