I have seen a few of them come in for repair at my office, out of the 200 I have worked on, about 5 had bad earpieces.
Doesnt happen often but it can happen.

I've had my iPhone 4 since July of 2010. It has never given me any problems till 3 days ago when the ear speaker just quit working. Everything else works fine. I can use both bluetooth and the ear buds without any problems. Plus it works if I put it on speaker phone. Has anyone else had this problem? How did you fix it? Suggestions?

I will pick up some canned air later and try that. Thanks

Sounds like it could be lint in the headphone tunnel.  If there's lint in there,
the phone thinks its always got headphones on, so the ear speaker won't work.
Do you have some canned spray you could blow into the hole?

It could be that simple. I hope for your sake.

No abuse.  I am very careful with it. And no I did not buy Applecare or any
other warranty.  I have tried the hard re-boot a couple of times with no luck.
I have an appointment at the Apple store for tomorrow.  Maybe I'll end up with
an early gift to myself!!!

Presuming it hasn't been abused (e.g., wetted, or dropped and a connection
broke), the first thing I would try is hard re-boot (press and hold Home and
On/Off until the Apple appears, then let it complete the boot cycle).

My next thought is, did you buy Applecare or a Square Trade warranty, which
would still be covering it at 17 months?

We charge 80 for something like that.
The iphone 4 is pretty labor intensive when it comes to smart phone repairs.
If it were a blackberry it would be half that.

Really?
From <http://images.apple.com/legal/warranty/docs/iPhone_4_warranty.pdf> :

> WHAT IS COVERED BY THIS WARRANTY?
> Apple warrants the Apple-branded hardware product and accessories contained in the original packaging ("Apple Product") against defects in materials and workmanship when used normally in accordance with Apple's published guidelines for a period of ONE (1) YEAR from the date of original retail purchase by the end-user purchaser ("Warranty Period").

The Genius Bar at the Apple Store can help you there. If you don't have a close Apple, your providers store can help.

Wireless printing not working since router upgrade

Posted by: "Susan Ferraglio" bladessf@aol.com   bladessf2000

Fri Dec 2, 2011 3:46 pm (PST)

Hi all - I just upgraded to a new dual band wireless router. I have created a network and all PCs (2 vista laptops and a win 7 desktop) , an iPad, iPhone, an HP Eprint multitask printer, streamer and 2 tv's have been successfully linked. However when I went to print an email from my phone and iPad it supposedly sends to the HP printer but it fails to print. I re-registered both mobile devices with Eprint at the Hp website. Documents will print from the Hp printer application on each device. But no other apps such as good reader or the print options within other apps work. They were working previously. I tried rebooting the printer, the phone and iPad. No success. The printer is recognized when I use the in app print choice and it says sending but no response from the printer. What is strange is the HP printer app works. Also Eprint works (sending a job to the printer via email). The laptops and desktops can be printed from. I am at a loss of what setting or problem needs to be addressed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Guys, for you, putting your phone in your shirt pocket is easy. For us gals, we usually do not have shirt pockets and the phone goes in our purses. We do need a screen protector...

Now another question: I have an extra generic charger for my 3gs which I have at my office. Would this be compatible with the 4s or do I need to purchase another charger specifically for the 4s?

Thanks, guys

I keep my nekkid iPhone4 in my front left pants pocket with nothing else in the pocket.

Long as your charger puts out 5v at 1A, it should be fine. Try it and
see if it works.

You're talking about the 3G? The one that came out after the original iPhone? Do you get wifi to your home computer? The only other thing I can think of is the radio transmitter that finds wifi is bad.
