For the most part, wireless carriers will do anything and everything to become an iPhone partner. But there have been some operators that have turned down the opportunity to carry the handset, such as US Cellular.

America’s 6th largest wireless carrier told investors last month that it had just turned down a deal from Apple regarding its smartphone, citing “unacceptable terms.” Now the operator is saying the iPhone’s lack of cutting edge technology also played a factor in its decision to walk…(...)

Siri, the Disappointment

Gizmodo’s Mat Honan writes about Siri, which he calls Apple’s broken promise. The whole article is worth a read but here is the conclusion.

And for me, once the novelty wore off, what I found was that Siri is not so intelligent after all—it’s simply another voice program that will obey very specific commands. If it knows those commands. If it can understand you. And if it has a network connection. Were this Google, or Microsoft, I’d shrug. But it’s not, it’s Apple. And Apple is the company that sells perfection. It’s a company that usually keeps its promises, and in its Siri ads, it promises far more than what it actually delivers. That’s not what any of us signed up for.

No, Siri is not perfect. Yes, it’s unusual for Apple to release a public beta of a product. But at the end of the day, it’s still pretty darn good, and we know it’s only going to get better.

As we told you yesterday, iFaith — the Windows based tool that allows you to manage SHSH blobs on all devices sans the iPhone 4S — has been updated with the ability to save iOS 5.x blobs, and create custom firmware that you can use to downgrade your iOS 5 device.

It works very similar to RedSn0w’s stitching feature, except the big difference here is that it encompasses Apple’s APTicket and features iOS 5 compatibility.

Apple Listed in Carrier IQ Class Action Lawsuit

We all saw this coming. BGR is reporting that multiple law firms from the north eastern region of the United States have just filed class action lawsuits against Apple and several other manufacturers and wireless carriers due to their part in the Carrier IQ scandal.

Carrier IQ’s IQRD app comes pre-installed on millions of handsets each year, and was recently exposed for secretly collecting private user data. The software is hidden within mobile operating systems and never asks for a user’s permission to collect their information…(...)

Ac1dSn0w Beta 2 Jailbreak Tool Released, Fixes Copyright Infringement Issues

The Pwn Dev Team has released a major update to their jailbreak tool, Ac1dSn0w. The tool was made available to the world a couple of weeks ago as an alternative to other apps for jailbreaking, like RedSn0w and PwnageTool.

Ac1dSn0w Beta 2 supposedly fixes the copyright infringement issues that the original beta possessed. The download file size has also been significantly reduced from over 100MB to about 11MB.(...)
