I don't use previews and I did not mention them in my question. I wasn't asking about quantity of email messages, I was asking about reading a complete email instead of in fragments.

And....to be honest..since I signed up and was given unlimited...I never
gave usage a second thought. Not that I will abuse it. But I intend to use
it.
It is like the "all you can eat salad bar". I think you eat until you are
"full"...but not take the food and leave it.
But....another view of mine is....I can never tell if my downloads are slow
because of the sending ISP, the website, the provider, the signal, the
congestion in the area, the tower I am getting my signal from...etc.
Between all of them I could be slow, fast...or throttled and I am not sure I
would know the cause.
The pressure
Thanks
Bill

Your data usage resets each new billing cycle.

Actually the usage listed in your phone does not reset each billing cycle. It resets only when you reset it manually or reset the whole phone.
The usage listed at AT&T does reset monthly but they do show you in one of the web site options daily usage both incoming and outgoing.
I recently downgraded to the 200Mb monthly plan since I'm mostly at home now but I got a text message from AT&T alerting me when I got to around 120Mb of usage saying that I had used up 60% of my limit so they do provide alerts for managing your data usage.
What would help and this is more a complaint to Apple is some way of identifying which of your Apps are using data and how much.

I found that whenever possible, using wifi helps keep AT&T off your back. I think they look at how much data you use over 3G. I could be wrong.

I'm with Verizon; had to pay $30 for their data plan when I upgraded to the iPhone 4s. I never send text messages. I have wifi at home and most places I visit away from home. Wifi is great for not racking up the MBs on the data plan.

I have an iPad 2 and was able to stop my data plan on it for now. If I go out of town, I'll start up the plan again. If I'm out about about town, I have my iPhone with me and use that data plan.

"If the bookmark bar can't be brought up like the iPad, why have it?" Well, you can't.
It is all in the semantics, and one is bigger than the other.
A bookmark bar is a horizontally across the screen would tie up way to much of the tiny screen on of a iPhone.
A bookmark (icon) is one icon on an existing menu bar.
Not to mention how small would the text have to be to have just four folders of bookmarks across the screen. Being limited to only 3 or 4 folders of bookmarks would not be much of an improvement over the current system.
The bookmark icon on the bar at the bottom of the screen can hold all the folders of bookmarks on your laptop.

I understand all that. Thing is, there are two sections to save a bookmark to in Safari on the iPhone...Bookmark Bar and Bookmarks. I've been with Apple long enough to think they wouldn't have 2 things in the same app if they were the same.

Think Different With The Fantastic New DiffCase For iPhone

Fantastic New DiffCase For iPhone via App Advice by A.T. Faust III on

The iPhone case market is as crowded as a Japanese wave pool, and, for
the most part, everything's just a tweaked copy of everything else. To
date, there's been very little innovation in this admittedly restricted
design space. After all, there's only so much you can do with
form-fitting plastic, rubber, silicone, and leather. Some companies,
like Vaja and EXOvault, do manage to stand out, but their prices are as
eye-popping as their lines' luxury looks.
Want something truly affordable and truly different?
Enter DiffCase.
Designed to emphasize the camera aspect of the iPhone, the DiffCase
nevertheless provides feature-rich functionality for several different
usage scenarios. It's got two built-in tripod mounts, an ergonomic
handle accessible in either orientation, a screen-protecting sunshade,
a credit card holder, a kickstand usable in both portrait and landscape
mode, a carabiner pass-through, and full six-sided rugged protection
(with the purchase of an extra lid).
On paper, you'd think the resultant amalgam of ABS injection-molded
plastic would be a bulky, pocket-stuffing nightmare. It's not. Almost
every feature of the DiffCase does double duty, so the overall package
is extremely manageable (unlike, say, this ridiculous thing). Check it
out:
The DiffCase can be purchased directly from the manufacturer and comes
in five different colors. The MSRP is $39, but early adopters can get
it now for just $30.
I ordered the white one.

That's a really cool case. $30 isn't bad for the case either. I wonder if they'll be at iWorld (use to be Macworld) at the end of the month. I'll be there.

Calendar problem
Posted by: "Devitt" devittad@comcast.net devittad
Tue Jan 3, 2012 10:40 am (PST)
A friend has a Verizon 4S running iOS 5.0.1. Her Calendar app does not have a plus sign to add appointments or a button to change which calendar is being shown like my ATT model does When she uses Siri to add an apt she says it's on the calendar but it doesn't show up.
What could be the problem? Is it a Verizon or Settings problem?

Settings, both phones are exactly the same. The only different in the 4
was a CDMA vs LTE radio, the 4S uses a dual radio. Regardless if it is a
4, 4S, VZW, AT&T or Sprint the calendar is a software issue. I would check
how/where her calendar syncs to (iCal, iCloud, Google, Exchange, etc) and
why it isn't showing up.

Anyone interested in Beta-testing my iPad food-recipe-discovery app?
Posted by: "brew572002" brew572002@yahoo.com brew572002
Tue Jan 3, 2012 11:40 am (PST)
I just released a new iPad food-recipe app in the AppStore.
The app lets you browse the best food-recipes on the Web in a magazine-
like format.
It is a free app. iPad-only (not yet iPhone.)
Is anyone here who is into food and cooking interested to try it out
and give me feedback on this early version?
Please let me know, and I will email a link to the app.
Cheers,
Brew

no forward/backward buttons in iOS 5 Photos app...

Hi all
Just upgraded to iOS 5 on my iPhone 4 and am generally liking the new features.
One little feature that I liked has been removed though. In the Photos app, there
is no forward/backward buttons. Just a 'Play' button for slideshows. I found the
forward/backward buttons very useful when in HDR mode as jumping backwards
and forwards between the normal/HDR version helped determine which was best
and which to delete. Swiping is not very good for this. Is there a way to jump
instantly from one photo to the next in iOS 5?
Thanks
Alice

Swiping works great for me to determine whether the original or HDR photo is better. It's a 1 finger swipe. It's the only way I know how to move between photos on the iPhone. I didn't even notice the left and right arrow keys were gone. Sorry.
