I have had 3 other versions of the iPhone and now the 4S and my
battery life has been "roughly" the same on all of them. I average
about 1 days usage and have to charge every night. Its not just the
iPhone though as I only get one day with my EVO too.
I could see if everyone had a problem but it's strange that we have
the same hardware version (I think) same iOS but not all having the
same problem.

I am getting the same results as you. Mine has settled down after a few discharges to doing exactly what yours does . I get a full day of use and end up at about 50% left ....

The ability to "talk to my phone" is NOT what Siri is all about.
How many taps, and how much time, would it take to obtain, for example, a list of seafood restaurants near you? Siri does it with one button-press and perhaps 10-15 seconds of waiting.
It not a "cute" service, it's a *facilitation* service. It doesn't accomplish anything you could not already do, it just does it faster and easier.

I lead a very dull life.
Now if Siri could tell me where the local supermarket has moved <product x>
*this week* and if there's any on the shelf *today* it might be worth the
aggro of upgrading.

One day is fine on any cell phone. Plugging it in overnight every night, is fine. I don't expect more than a days battery life. Any more than that and it's a surprise. Anything less and I pull out my mophie. Sometimes I use my phone heavy enough I have to use my mophie....when I use it to take lots of pictures, for example.

Dave,
To delete several emails at once just hold your alt button and scroll down to the messages you want to delete (you can either use the trackpad or with the torch you can use the touch screen) than click on the Blackberry button and hit delete. That's it. You don't have to delete individual messages anymore.
And coroporate uses them becuase they are secure plus they aren't gaming phones for a lot of stuff so people are actually working instead of playing angry birds or tiny zoo. I have a bold 9930 and the iPhone 4, love em both and they both serve different functions in my life. Guess its just your taste that works for you though.
Hope the info helps

Because RIM provides a enterprise software which created a secure enterprise wide mailing system without compromising the ability to use BB handset as normal phone as well as ones individual mail. The security is highly desirable feature in corporate environment.

Number Guru giving me problems

I have noticed when I try to direct dial a number on my iphone 4 that there is a delay after the first number and a line of text displays relating to Number Guru checking against spamers. This is major annoyance. It did not occur originally when I installed Guru, but seems to have started after an update to the app. I deleted the app, but the spam list remains and the problem as well. Has any one else had this issue and been able to get rid of it? I have updated the phone to 5.0.1 but this was happening prior to that update.

I'm sorry, but the apps from this developer and his claims are too good to be true. The most recent reviews of 3 of his apps are all 5 stars.
If it is a number look up, why would it interfere with outgoing call?
My suggestion is to delete the app.

iPads taking over: Apple to revamp the Genius Bar with iPads, drop t

Sent to you by Bill Boulware via Google Reader: iPads taking over:
Apple to revamp the Genius Bar with iPads, drop the Macs via 9to5Mac by
Mark Gurman on 11/12/11
Typically when you walk up to the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store,
you will be met with multiple Apple Geniuses with MacBook Pros in front
of them. These MacBook Pros have been utilized to facilitate repairs,
look up customer information, and order new parts. Starting early next
week, in at least some Apple retail markets, the MacBook Pros will
disappear in favor of… iPads. These iPads will vastly improve the
customer experience and the overall flow of the Apple Retail Store.
Read all about it after the break:
Apple Store Geniuses currently use these MacBook Pros to access a piece
of software called GCRM. This software allows Apple Store Geniuses to
see if a customer's product is in warranty, what repairs can be done to
it, the recent repairs done to the device, and what parts can be
ordered for it. In addition, research can be done on these MacBook Pros
on how to repair and repairs can be ordered through the laptops. Now,
Apple is supplying Apple Stores with iPads that can mirror that
functionality and replace the MacBook Pros.
Apple replacing the stationary MacBook Pros with iPads for Genius Bar
functions is a major move that will not only make the Genius' job
easier, but provide a much better experience for Apple's customers that
are looking for repairs and/or help from the Genius Bar. The MacBook
Pros are stationary so they cannot be moved from the Genius Bar. The
iPads are portable, so the tablets can allow Geniuses to essentially
help customers anywhere in the store. This would open up space at the
Genius Bar and allow repairs to be facilitated much more quickly.
Due the size of MacBook Pros, Apple has been limited to fitting only a
few the computers at Genius Bars. Typically, the Genius Bar can only
service as many people as computers at one time at the Genius Bar. Now,
due to the size and price of iPads, Apple could service more people at
one time at the Genius Bar by installing multiple iPads. Apple fairly
recently instated a system called MobileGenius which runs the iOS
Diagnostic service I previously detailed. This service only works with
iOS devices, while the new iPads should cover Macs and Apple's other
non-iOS products, too.
When a repair is scheduled or a device is replaced, Apple typically has
customers sign a paper receipt. While this may not make its way to the
initial launch of the new Genius Bar – which is a part of Apple's
"Apple Store 2.0″ initiative – Apple's retail software team is working
on ways for customers to be able to sign their signatures on iPads,
rather than on printed pieces of paper. Just like the iPod touch
MobileGenius and EasyPay systems can do. Thanks JMFM and iDannyOcean!
There's more to come, so check back often for even more details.

New 4S due Monday

New phone comes Monday. I was wondering if there is any advantage to getting it activated at the AT&T store over doing it at home? What information on the old phone can they move over to the new one.
Also, When I attach the new phone in iTunes, how can I give it a name of my choice?
If I understand correctly, in order to move all the video, pics and apps, I sync to old one and then RESTORE to the new one. Yes, No?
Thank for the help, Ron

connect your phone to iTunes and then *double click* your device's current
name in the left hand column. you can then change the name of the phone to
whatever you want.

iTunes does not sync or copy photos, and I am assuming videos, from the iPhone over to your computer, you have to use another app to do that.
I don't know, but I don't think the carrier can move any information for you, you need to use iTunes.

If you are a Mac user, you can use iPhoto to sync and/or copy photos and video to and from your iPhone. I know that in iTunes, if you click on photos, you can mark the boxes of the pictures you want to put on your phone and iTunes will do it. I don't know about taking photos off your phone though.

Only if you ask it to. I don't use iPhoto. Also if Ron is on a Windows PC, then he won't have iPhoto. It is not automatic for everyone. You have to set it up for it to be automatic.

Nope, not a Mac user. I think I can sync the old phone to itunes, then install the new one (after activation) and adjust the settings to tell itunes which videos and where the photos are, and then do a restore. This is my guess and if anyone knows for sure I would like to know.

Activating and Unlocked iPhone 4S for use on ATT
Posted by: "David Morganstein" drm0223@mac.com drm0223
Sun Nov 13, 2011 7:33 am (PST)
I have an iPhone 4 with an ATT account. Apple is now selling unlocked iPhone 4S. If I buy one, can I simply move the SIM card from the 4 to the 4S to transfer over the contents? Does this move the phone number as well and does it activate the 4S? Or do I need to do something else (call ATT or go to a store) to activate the 4S and transfer the phone number?
Does moving the phone number result in a new 2 year contract w/ATT or should I expect ATT to do this w/no change to my current contract?

The screen rotation icon only shows in the upper right portion of the screen if I have locked the screen by pressing the home button twice and then locking my screen that way. It will not let me lock or unlock the screen on the video itself. This is very frustrating because when I have the iPhone in its cradle I would like to be able to watch the news. It worked that way before I went to the 5.01 upgrade.
Joel

There's no little lock symbol in the upper right?
If not, I would suggest locking it, then unlocking it.
