Tweetbot for iPhone On Sale For a Limited Time

Posted: 09 Dec 2011 04:00 PM PST

Tweetbot, the popular Twitter client for the iPhone, is available for a limited time discount at only $0.99 (down from $2.99). In my original review of Tweetbot I gave it a glowing recommendation, and I still use the app every day on my personal iPhone.

For the first time ever, Tweetbot is on sale in the App Store. The price drop follows the release of the poorly-received Twitter for iPhone 4.0 update.(...)

Motorola Wins Injunction Against Apple in Germany

Posted: 09 Dec 2011 02:45 PM PST

Motorola Mobility has just announced that it has scored a major victory in its ongoing patent war with Apple. Just as the iPhone-makers have done to Samsung, Motorola has just won an injunction that bans the import of 3G iPads and iPhones into Germany.

This will be the company’s second German court victory in as many months, but the ramifications for Apple are a lot more serious this time around. Unless Apple wins an appeal, it will be forced to stop shipping some of its biggest products into the country…(...)

Kevlar Tether Keeps Your iPhone On a Leash So You Can Live Like a Daredevil

Posted: 09 Dec 2011 12:15 PM PST

If you’re an adrenaline junkie or just someone that likes to spend their free time at great heights, then you’re no doubt very aware of the risks carrying your gadgets. Dropping your iPhone when on a ski lift or falling from 10,000 foot surely isn’t a good feeling.

One company is trying to take the worry out of such daredevil feats by offering a last line of defense, should the worst happen. Drop your iPhone while bungee jumping – no, we’re not sure why you would be holding it at that particular time, either – and you’re golden, all thanks to the Kenu Highline.

The Highline is a special kevlar loop which acts as a mini-bungee, meaning any accidental drops will see your iDevice safe and sound instead of smashed into tiny, tiny pieces. Awesome, if you like that kind of thing…(...)

TV Industry Scrambling to Beat Apple to the Punch

Posted: 09 Dec 2011 11:40 AM PST

The rumor mill can be fairly accurate when it comes to predicting major Apple products. There was tons of gossip regarding an Apple smartphone for at least a year leading up to the iPhone announcement. And the same goes with iPad rumors.

Manufacturers, for some reason, have always ignored the chatter surrounding Apple rumors. But it looks like the folks in the TV industry aren’t going to make that mistake this time around, as reports are coming in that TV-makers are already working on implementing voice control technology to beat Apple to the punch.(...)

Posted: 09 Dec 2011 08:45 AM PST

Late last night I set out with the goal of getting the much talked about Siri Proxy server running on my iMac and iPhone 4S. After a couple of hours of tinkering, I could finally report success.

We’ve all seen the videos, but actually using it yourself is a whole different experience. It’s really amazing what Pete "Plamoni" Lamonica has been able to pull off with Siri Proxy.

What’s even better is that there’s all sorts of plugins available to take advantage of. Check inside as we go hands-on with the Twitter and IMDB plugins for this wonderful Siri enhancer…(...)

iPhone 3GS Sales Continue to Impress

Posted: 09 Dec 2011 07:20 AM PST

Apple’s iPhone 3GS is still proving to be popular after being on the market for over two years.

New numbers coming from the notoriously questionable DigiTimes suggest that Apple could see its iPhone 3GS production top the 2 millon mark during the fourth quarter of 2011. Those are stellar figures for a handset that is not one, but two generations old.

The news comes as further reports claim Apple is set to sell around 30 million iPhones during the holiday season…(...)
