In the age of iOS photography, there are no cost considerations when shooting photos, and enthusiastic picture takers may snap hundreds of photos in an hour. Browsing through large numbers of photos one at a time is not a pleasant experience, but professionals have solved this problem by printing contact sheets containing many shots that are easily scanned by the viewer and from which it is convenient to select the best of
the group.

"Contact sheet" derives its name from the practice of professional photographers who would print strips of 35mm film, containing a series of still shots, by placing the strips directly on a sheet of photographic paper and exposing it briefly to light. When developed, the sheet displayed unenlarged, negative-sized thumbnails of each photo. While most professionals have migrated to filmless photography, the utility of the contact sheet, as a means of scanning groups of photos easily, remains.

Creating a contact sheet in the app is completely automatic. The user just touches any photo, whether in Saved Photos or Photo Library, or on a Roll, and the thumbnail appears on the contact sheet. From the Contact Sheet Maker settings dialog the user can select the following: Print Title of Photo: Yes/No; Print Page Number: Yes/No; Print Date and Time: Yes/No; Print Footer Text: Yes/No; Footer Text (empty text field); Contact Sheet Metadata: Author Name (empty text field); and Dropbox Account: Link/Unlink.

Even if there is forgotten piece of text that needs to be added to the existing one, simple drag&drop on that item will append it neatly below already saved text clipping without even opening the document. Hahn's first app, named WinterSpark, is a yule log app that features video of a fireplace and plays his Christmas piano music. The app has given the music a great platform for distribution. With the release of WinterSpark in October, Hahn has moved into mobile app development. Next on Hahn's list is a financial and productivity app for freelancers.

New York, New York - Pianist David J. Hahn spends his nights in the pits of the Great White Way - but he's kept his day job.

"I have a lot of different interests. Technology has always been one of them." Hahn said at a recent interview in midtown Manhattan. "I love my job on Broadway, but I also like building websites and, now, developing apps."

His first app, named WinterSpark, is a yule log app that features video of a fireplace and plays holiday music in the background.

"That's my Christmas album in the background. Before WinterSpark I don't think many people had heard the album - but the app has given the music a great platform for distribution. I've gotten a lot of great comments."

Hahn has performed in three Broadway shows this year - conducting at "Priscilla Queen of the Desert" and playing keyboards at "Sister Act". This winter, Hahn will serve as the Associate Conductor and pianist for the Harry Connick, Jr.-led revival of "On a Clear Day You Can See Forever".

"It's a huge honor to play for Harry. He was my hero when I was a kid." Hahn said.

In an industry characterized by specialization, Hahn is the exception. In 2001, while studying music composition at Indiana University, Hahn began building HTML websites in his spare time. Since then, he's followed two career paths in tandem - one as a musical theatre conductor and one as an internet professional.

In 2008, Hahn built the career website MusicianWages with guitarist Cameron Mizell. Three years later, the site brings in over 70,000 visitors every month.

"MusicianWages has definitely been a success story for us. We wanted to create the website that would help musicians transition from the music industry of the 20th century to the music industry of the 21st century. It's been fun to see the idea grow into a community." Hahn says.

With the release of WinterSpark in October, Hahn has moved into mobile app development.

The reviews for WinterSpark are compelling. "This will be the hit of the holiday season" says one. Another user writes, "I think this is great - the modern yule log!"

Yet, it's not all smooth sailing in app development. Soon after launch, WinterSpark users began complaining of freezing videos and buggy AirPlay compatibility. Hahn admitted that there has been some surprises, but that he has addressed the issues.

"I contacted my development team right away and we sent out an update a few days later." Hahn said. "If other issues crop up we'll do the same - I think the key to app development is creating a superior product and responding to user's feedback."

Next on Hahn's list is a financial and productivity app for freelancers he's calling "Edna" - named after his Grandmother, who had a talent for organization. The app, currently in development, is due out in early 2012.

"I want to make Edna the best personal assistant app for freelancers. I think she'll help a lot of people."

There are over 25 zero-configure MIDI controllers supported from Akai, American Audio, Beamz, Behringer, Denon, Hercules, M-Audio, Numark, PCDJ, Reloop, Vestax. Any other MIDI controller can be used and visually mapped by using the intuitive LEARN feature. For more advanced users controllers can be programmed through JavaScript to fulfill any DJ-ing commands, ensuring limitless functionality and control.

Even though the FutureDecks DJ Pro was made to be used in live conditions, almost all of its functions can be automated in such a way that the software ends up doing all the hard work. A good example is the AutoMix mode that enables the software to work on its own, mixing songs without any human intervention whatsoever. Both songs rhythm and volume are automatically synchronized and the beats are perfectly overlapped to create quality beat-matched mixes.

The app is aimed primarily at high school and college students looking to learn language vocabulary, but it can be also used to study and learn any other subject.

When users first download the app, the app immediately downloads all of the user's cards from Quizlet, a popular flash card website. The user can also create and edit cards directly on their mobile device, and their changes are automatically uploaded to Quizlet. In addition, users can search and browse sets and "groups" which allow them to study with their friends and classmates, and can listen to their cards using a text-to-speech function.

Mr. Lustig created FlashCards Sync to study Russian, German, and Hebrew. "I've tried almost every flash card app," he says, "but none fit my needs. I want an app which doesn't get in my way. FlashCards Sync lets me just study without any hassle." In the one month since he began building FlashCards Sync, Mr. Lustig has learned nearly 3,000 vocabulary terms.

Especially because Mr. Lustig is studying languages like Hebrew and Russian with non-Latin characters, he built the program from the ground up with Unicode support. FlashCards Sync also incorporates an advanced "Smart Study Mode" which helps memorize cards quickly by displaying more difficult cards more often.
