I found this on the Apple support site:
Touch the pin, when the label comes up, to the right of the label is a blue arrow. Touch that and the screen should come up about the pin, and one of the selections is Remove pin. If it is from the search of an address, you need to touch the "X" at the end of the address bar in the search to remove the address, which will remove the pin.

I don't know if this has changed but in my version (3.0.8) events take
their colour from the calendar they're in. You change this using Get Info
on the calendar.

i know. i explained that. that i have 16 GBs of RAM.
the woman was a senior advisor. she said if it gets bigger than
2GBs call back. well, it is still 17GBs. and this is just recent.
so i don't know what to make of it.
telling me i should leave it alone wasn't helpful.
so, i appreciate your email, and that of others.

Thank you Jim. Yes, I am using Firefox (and sometimes Safari) to read my mail. I'm happy with this set up for now. I'll continue to deal with the MAIL issue, probably by having to quit it after it starts up each time. :-)

Howdy.
Apple Mail has long had a feature in preferences that just turns it
off.
So if you don't want Mail to download messages, although I can't
understand why you wouldn't, you can check the chick box and turn it
off, or, you can just delete the Yahoo account in Apple's Mail program.

Of course it's a matter of choice. And choices have consequences. One of the consequences of choosing to read one's email through a generic web interface seems to be that, when you select an email link in a message or website, the system's default mail program will open, because there's no psychic method for the OS to know to open your web browser of choice to, for example, your Yahoo webmail page.
I can't imagine how you have Mail set up to cause it to open spontaneously. My version is tame and obedient, opening only when I tell it to. One of the ways I can tell it to is to tap on an email link.
If you really want never to use the Mail App, then go to Settings -- Mail, Contacts, Calendars and delete any mail accounts you find there.

Oops. I just came from the iPad forum, which the "Settings" thing applies to.
Otto's directions were correct.

Thank you Jayant. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one to make this choice and to have similar issues. I appreciate the response.

I recently updated an image on my website, but the old version of the image (same image number) continues to display on my Mac Pro (OSX 8.2 and Safari 6.0.1). It displays correctly on my iPad, so I know the image has been uploaded and posted correctly on the website. It's always worked fine when doing this in the past, but for some reason, my old version of the image continues to display on my Mac.
How do I clear my cache and refresh Safari so it will reload the page with the proper image? I don't want to trash all my passwords, cookies, etc, so if there are any settings, please be specific about which ones will clear out my images and reload from scratch.
Thx,
Lou
