It appears to need the "l" on the end of "html":

Try these:

The receiver of your email needs to have QuickTime installed on their computer. It is a free download.

This was mentioned on the iPad list the other day, but I haven't seen
it mentioned here:

Consider installing free app AppsGoneFree to see the apps that are
free for a limited time.
When I had just installed it, with push notifications enabled, it did
push. The last time (today) I wasn't push-notified.

Help, my 4S thinks it's a 3GS

Posted by: "Martin Rice" martinrice1@mac.com   martin_rice

I think I might have really messed up. I got a 4S a couple of hours ago. When I came home and plugged it in to iTunes, I was asked whether I wanted to restore from my backup. I said "yes." Was that my mistake? Now not only is it named Martin's 3GS, but the 4S stuff isn't there. For example, if I hold down the home button, Voice Control comes up, not Siri.

I thought of restoring it to factory settings, but I'm afraid that it'll make it like a factory 3GS.

Can anyone tell me what do I need to do to get my 4S phone back?

Thanks,
Martin

Did you turn Siri on? Settings> General> Siri.

That is, of course, the correct answer, Brent. The embarrassing thing is, however, that I really didn't have a problem at all. What happened when I restored was that iTunes restored the name of the old phone, Martin's 3GS. All I had to do was double click it in the sidebar and I changed it to Martin's 4S.

As far as Siri disappearing, (and this I learned from Apple Express Support, who I should have called before I posted), I went to settings, general, tapped on Siri which was in the general settings, and saw that it was turned off. I hadn't thought of that at all. I had used it before I restored, so I guess the restore turned Siri off.

Sorry that I bothered the group about this, but I do appreciate the quick response.

The name ie " Martin's 3Gs" is assigned by you. You can make it anything you want.

You have to turn SiRi on.

I doubt your 4s is a 3Gs.

EQ

Is it beneficial to set the EQ on the iPhone's sound settings? I had it switched to off pretty much since I had the phone.

If your an audiophile, you may want to use it. I don't use it. I like to listen to music the way it was recorded, not how I think it should have been recorded. I did try the EQ but found I listen to so many different genres of music I was futzing with the EQ all the time.

On the other hand, you may be the type of audiophile that likes to futz with EQ to get the best sound out of your music for you.

There is an app called Chattime. supposedly one can call oversees free. Both parties need the app. I don't know if it works.

There are other options. Skype can make calls over 3G. There's Vonage and MagicJack app for the iPhone that does the same like Skype. There's also Line but I haven't tried the calling feature.

No one has mentioned: You gotta have a connection to wifi or 3G to play music from the cloud. I was in the car on the way to a Mini Cooper club event. I had forgotten my iPod Classic. I was using my iPhone to play music from the cloud. Well, about 30 minutes into playing music, it stopped. Guess what, no 3G or wifi. 10 min later I was able to play music again. If it weren't for that very large complaint, it would get 5 stars.

iphone 4S (ATT) screen blank

Has this issue been brought up? I have an AT&T iPhone 4S which now has a blank screen. Vibrate switch is the only way I would even know its on. The screen just doesnt function. No water or physical damage.

Headed to an AT&T store in an hour or so.

I did try a Restore with no luck. I am thinking its a hardware failure.

If you have an Apple store close, go there. The Genius's have great knowledge. AT&T people do not.

It won't be foolproof until the contents of the new phone are completely identical to the contents of the old phone after the backup / restore procedure.

That's what I love about having 3 iPhones on a family plan.

In mid-2009, my wife decided she should have her own instead of borrowing mine while waiting for service in the restaurant. I got a new 3GS, and she got my 3G.

In mid-2010, I got a 4 and my wife got my 3GS, and her 3G became a spare.

Later our housemate's 3G got smashed, and she got the spare 3G.

In mid-2011, I got a 4S, my wife got the 4, and the housemate for the 3GS.

If I choose, I'll be able to get a 5, pass the 4S to my wife, and the 4 to the housemate.

iPhone only apps will install on both iPhone and iPad since the iPad can run iPhone apps. Usually iPhone only apps will only display in portrait mode on the iPad though.

My confusion is that in iTunes there are 3 types of Apps; iPhone only, iPad only and both. If I purchase or download a "both" app will it automagically install on both phone and iPad? If I buy or download an "only" app will it install only on the unit that is written for? Or do I need to download it twice; once for each unit?

Dropbox for iOS allows you to send to quite a few apps, depending on which apps you have installed.
