I also use the Airport Express to extend my network & it has performed flawlessly for a few years now.

Thank you both Daly and Harry. I logged on to gmail directly and there I was able to delete old and unwanted messages. It was amusing, when I went back into Mail to find them apparently there but to see them vanish as I called them up. Now, if I can figure out how to clean up all the former addresses in my in-box ...

Is it true that Google keeps everything, forever? When I delete a message I expect to see it move to the trash. When I empty the trash I want to see it GONE.

You should be able to delete them via the Gmail web interface. I
haven't tried, but then again, I have not emptied any of my folders
there either.

Very easy to get rid of folders up on Gmail. First of all, you can
archive or delete the mail in that folder, or label as Gmail calls it.
You don't have to, but you can.

Then, select the down arrow next to the label name, and then select
'remove label'.

That's all there is to it.

Is there a way to compose an email message and have it automatically sent at some future time!

Yep!

Install the Schedule Delivery script, which is a part of Mail Scripts (free):
http://andreasamann.com/MacOSX/Mail_Scripts

Or you could use:

MailScheduler ($26)
http://www.mrose.nl/mailscheduler
http://www.mrose.nl/component/option,com_phocagallery/Itemid,80/id,7/view,category/
http://www.mrose.nl/registermtr
http://www.mrose.nl/downloads/MailScheduler.dmg.zip

Okay, so instead check out this article:
http://www.macworld.com/article/1053228/novworkingmac.html
scroll down to "Use E-mail to send reminders"

Use that tip with:

iCalMail (free)

OR...you can try:

LaterMail (free)

(localized for German, unfortunately)

Any idea how to stop apple mail from displaying messages together? I have the Prefs> View options set to Classic. This is a new computer and for some reason Classic doesn't work on this one. Drives me nuts. I dislike that feature.

View menu - untick "Organize by Thread"

You can do this per mailbox. I have some threaded and some not.

i had some problems with my new iPhone (important directly from China) and AT&T. first i could use the phone to make calls. we done did that. then i couldn't get the internet, so off to
an AT&T store to get a new SIMS card. that took care of that. then, i couldn't get my messages. so, i Restore the phone on my iMac and iTunes. everything is working fine now.
SIRI works pretty good. it LOOKs like the maps with turn by turn direction is working okay.
i talked to an Apple tech, i asked, first saying i doubt you are allowed to answer this question, which company should i go with. i still have some time, but it seems okay.
doing it over, i might go with a competitor. but i've been with AT&T for years.

any thoughts, pearls of wisdom, suggestions?

thanks,

doug

IIRC, AT&T is the only service provider with a network that allows simultaneous use of phone and data services. For that reason alone, it would be my choice in any area that has decent connectivity with their network.

Yep, still true, and it's significant enough for me that I haven't even considered switching carriers.

Hello all:

Perhaps this has been bantied about before, and I just missed it. I hope
someone can help.

About 4 months ago, I purchased an iPhone 4 (not 4S). I received a notice on
it telling me to install iOS6. I have tried 4 times, but each time the
iPhone tells me that the install failed. What am I doing wrong? Can this
even be installed on that phone? If it can¹t be installed, why is it telling
me to do it?

Thanks in advance for all help!

It certainly can, and I've installed iOS 6 on my 3GS without any problems
using iTunes. How are you trying it?
