Thank you all for your replies. I have fixed the problem. I must have
changed the speed toggle without realizing it. I will watch that in the

From the LifeHacker link, it looks like we'll be able to sync with wifi once iOS 5 is installed. Thanks a lot for all the help.

When it comes to Windows, it's all hypothetical to me as all of my machines are Macs (with the exception of one Linux net book). So I will have to defer to one of our Windows experts on the issue of your update error.
As to the wifi syncing question, take a look at the LifeHacker link below for a quick tutorial of setting it up:
