Hi.

I had similar problems with my phone with iTunes not seeing
The phone.

I managed to get it working by uninstalling everything also. But
You also have to go into task manager and stop anything running to do with iTunes befor re installing. There is a list of files to delete and stuff to stop in task manager but can't find it at the mo'.

Will post it when I find it again.

Hope u get it sorted

Paul

We've rebooted the phone and the computer. We haven't tried a different cable. That's an interesting idea. I'll take one of mine along, and in fact my laptop, the next visit.

If I have small pdf file (say 10 MB or less) on my desktop, I can transfer it to iphone by attaching it to an email and opening that mail on iphone.

How do I transfer a big file? It is 130 MB.

Can it be sent to iphone by bluetooth?

I have iphone 4.
Thanks
best

You can just drag it to iTunes, will be added as "Book" and you can open in
iBooks

OR

You can use something like Dropbox or Box.net to sync it to a "cloud" and
then open on iPhone using the App for that service

OR

You can upload to Google Docs and access via docs.google.com in Safari or
via GoodReader on any number of services.

I have transferred large files like that pc to pc using Yahoo Messenger. Not sure if that would work or not on iPhone.

If you upload the PDF to Dropbox, you can use Goodreader to download and read it in GoodReader. I use Goidreader and dropbox for all sorts if things. It's a great app.

Sent to you by Bill Boulware via Google Reader: FYI: Path uploads your
iPhone's entire address book to their servers via 9to5Mac by Jake Smith
on 2/7/12

Blogger Arun Thampi has discovered something that may or may not sit
right about the free social media app Path while packet sniffing the
app last night. Upon first installing the app and registering for an
account, Path sends every single one of your contacts in your address
book to their server via a .plist. The .plist includes full names,
phone numbers, and e-mails.

Path makes the call "https://api.path.com/3/contacts/add" when you
first create an account, and it uploads every single one of your
contacts to its server. In most people's mind this obviously makes them
feel a little uncomfortable. Thampi details the technical aspects of
this, and how you can recreate it yourself, in his blog post.

Path's co-founder and CEO Dave Morin commented on the situation, saying
iPhone users will soon be able to opt-out of the setting in an update
that will be rolling out to the App Store shortly. But does that really
change anything? He didn't really explain why Path is doing this, and
all of your address book is still on their servers. You can read
Morin's comment after the break:

We believe that this type of friend finding & matching is important to
the industry and that it is important that users clearly understand it,
so we proactively rolled out an opt-in for this on our Android client a
few weeks ago and are rolling out the opt-in for this in 2.0.6 of our
iOS Client, pending App Store approval.

Things you can do from here:
- Subscribe to 9to5Mac using Google Reader
- Get started using Google Reader to easily keep up with all your
favorite sites

Hi Alice,

You should be able to call overseas simply on AT&T. Yes, they require you to sign up for an international plan but that is really a fraud protection precaution. The basic international calling plan has no monthly charges and you pay normal per minute charges. They have set it up that way because most people don't call overseas and over a decade ago when intl rates were really expensive that was where most fraud occurred when phones were stolen.

Restore from iCloud

I have yet tried to restore my iPhone from "the cloud". My one question before I start is will it allow me to choose a certain back (as it does with my desktop) or will it just choose the most recent.

Guess I have one more question (haha) is there a way I can view my cloud back ups so I can check the date of the most recent one?

Thanks in advance,

Brian
