Subject: [MacBook] iPad2 Question
Just bought an iPad2 yesterday. 16 gig wifi, no 3G. My question is about the "Messages" app. I was able to send myself a text message from the iPad to my iPhone. However I can't seem to send text messages to anyone else. I get a red message saying the number is not registered wit iMessage. I'm missing something here. I didn't register my number on iMessage but the text msg I sent to myself went through fine. Other messages to anyone, even if their contact info are in my "Contacts", will give me the same error message. What gives? Any solutions?
Any input is always appreciated. Thanks in advance.

plenty of free apps that will let you do SMS for free and give your device
an SMS number. Of course, you will need WIFI to send or receive messages.
Note, you can also use a VOIP app that will give you telephony capability.

Thanks for the responses guys. I have another question, this time with regards to Personal Hotspot. I tried connecting my ipad2 to my iphone's personal hotspot. It seemed to connect, but I could not do anything. I opened up Safari and tried to open a web page, and it took forever to think, and I just gave up and disconnected. So is it really a slow to no connection when using the personal hotspot?
Thanks guys.

I just tried to dump my trash and received a "cannot be completed..." -8003 error. It resists googling, cannot find it.
I can deal with "file in use" and "file locked" annoyances but this one is new.
Does anyone have a clue what this is and how to cure the problem? Thanks if you do!

UPDATE
I restarted. Still the same error. Then I went in and manually deleted several files. Then I tried the empty trash menu item again and it worked.
Go figure. I'd still like to know if anyone knows why this occurs.

A quick scan through the first page didn't show any definite revelations about the cause, but you definitely aren't alone!

Interesting reading, thanks. One thing I forgot to mention. I had used Oynx recently and turned on visibility for hidden files, so I was seeing various hidden files in the trash as well. I wonder if that made any difference. We use Crash Plan for backup so TM is not involved as suggested in some of the Apple discussion posts.
