Re: Kindle app

Jim, which version did you end up getting at Amazon? There was a new
version published briefly which allowed Apple users to view
CATEGORIES on their devices. The article announcing this version was
left on the web, but the version had issues, and was removed. Then
the version available on the Amazon site was much older than the
version on the Apple Site. As of 6 weeks ago, Amazone was advising
Apple Users to get the App from the Mac App Store.

If Amazon finally fixed their Categories issue, I'd love to do the
upgrade! Mine is v1.5.2.
Thanks...

You should just be able to click and change it.

I didn't think of going to EVENTS to do that. Yuck. I don't use
events, so I have to wade thru all the photos to find it in Events in
order to rename? Thanks for letting me know.

Uncomprehending here - I still haven't figured out how to rename an
individual photo LOL I looked in HELP and I looked in Prefs pane to
see if I need to select (or deselect) something to see the names. Do
I need to change something to see the original names of photos?
Thanks for your assistance.

Go to VIEW> Titles and then just click underneath the photo to type in the name you want.

Don't you just double-click on the name (defaults to date) and overtype?

There are two ways that you can rename in iPhoto and they are individually and batch change. To do an individual change you need to actually see the title under the picture and if you are not seeing the title go to view>titles and check titles and you then should see the title. Once you see the title you can click on it and make your changes.

Now if you want to make a batch change on more than one picture, go to Photos>batch change. However, unless you actually have high lighted more than one photo, you will see that the batch change is grayed out. You first have to high light the photos you want to change before you can do a batch change.

You don't have to use Events. You can rename a photo in the regular album.

Photo Stream on iCloud ??  What is going on?

Posted by: "Denver Dan" denver.dan@verizon.net   denverdan22180

Mon Oct 17, 2011 2:22 pm (PDT)

Howdy.

I've converted to iCloud but can't seem to figure out the point of
Photo Stream.

It seems to be working. Maybe. I'm not sure.

I have a Photo Stream folder I turned on in iPhoto.

I have a Photos Stream folder on the iPhone.

So have do I get to see a photo taken on my iPhone appear automatically
in the Photo Stream folder on iPhoto program?

Perhaps I don't understand the point of Photo Stream.

I can't seem to access Photo Stream images via a web browser program.

So what's the point of it?

If you have an iPad and iPhone (or iPad and iPod Touch, or iPod Touch and
iPhone or any combination) and a Macbook, and an iMac, and a Windows 7
machien instead of having to import photos to any or all of them, if you
have Photo STream turned on, each photo you take automatically shows up on
all devices. No more having to import photos to iPad from iPhone using a
third party camera connection kit. If you have an Apple TV Photo STream is
automatically synced there as well - no having to put photos on a computer
and that computer being turned on in order to view them, etc.

I should add that the only way I have *ever* "received a message" to upgrade my iPhone software was from within iTunes when I connected the iPhone to the computer with iTunes running.

Same here.

Has anyone experienced anything different (apart from Josephine's friend)?

Two things.

Is your friend's iPhone jailbroken?

Apple does not send emails suggesting a software upgrade, nor do any legitimate Apple software developers. Upgrades are done through either iTunes or the App Store on the iPhone, and the only notification are within those two apps.

The only acceptation to date is from Audible.com, and I suggest avoiding it as it causes syncing problems. I'm sure Apple will be giving a dressing down to Audible shortly.

If the iphone is jailbroken, then I would assume he was hacked at this point and suggest a restore to factory default and then restoring from his latest backup prior to the incident. Time to change some passwords and secure his finances.

Silly question. Ask your friend if he is interested in buying a bridge? I hear the London Bridge is up for sale again? I can let him have it on the Cheapeside.

Discovering a BlueTooth keyboard

Posted by: "DaveC" davec2468@yahoo.com   davec2468

Tue Oct 18, 2011 12:00 am (PDT)

I've got 2 minis stacked one on the other: below, 2011 i7 mini
running Lion; above, 2006 Core Duo mini running Snow Leopard.

I have an Apple aluminum wireless keyboard. I paired it easily with
the 2011 mini.

Now I want to use it on the other mini. I've turned off BT on the
2011 mini, turned on BT on the 2006, and went through the steps to
configure a keyboard. But the mini can't find the keyboard. I've
tried hovering the keyboard anywhere from 6" to 2' above it. Nothing.

I can see the little green LED on the keyboard blinking after I
initiated the keyboard search (blink blink ... blink blink ... blink
blink ... etc.).

When connected to the 2011 mini Software Update suggested the
Aluminum Keyboard Firmware Update which I did. It succeeded and I
could use the keyboard with the 2011 mini after that.

There is nothing stacked on top of the 2006 mini.

Batteries are new (and I swapped them for other new batteries just in case...)

There's no WiFi being used nearby.

There's no other BT devices, cordless phones, or cell phones (on) nearby.

BT sharing is turned off (Sys Prefs > Sharing).

Is there something I can do to make this a success?

Thanks,
Dave
