Check your purchased apps to see if it's still listed. For podcasts, either check iTunes and see how far back
The particular podcast goes or if the podcast has a website go there and see if you can download from their archives.

Subject: [apple-iphone] WiFi Scanner App

Well, I upgraded to iOS5 and lost two things:

1. All my TED talks subscribed video podcasts
2. A nifty app called WiFi Tracker that had let me view available open and closed WiFi networks within range.

So how do I get the TED podcasts back? iTunes 10.5 still has me subscribed, so that hasn't changed. The downloaded videos just vanished.

Secondly, had Apple banned WiFi scanners? Does any have an app to replace it?

Thanks,

Rob

I still have WiFi Tracker on my iPhone 4 after the update but it won't
run. It opens and then closes right away, so maybe it is not compatible
with iOS5?

I had WifiTrak and WiFiFoFum and they both quit with the update to iOS5.
Apple had these programs removed from the App Store long ago. I still have a
3G that I was hanging on to. I am going to load them on that phone so I can
use the scanner apps when I really need to.

I'd check the app store for something like that.

Doesn't it already do that? If you haver timer set to turn iPod off.

I do this every day. Usually go to sleep with pandora. I do have unlimited. I don't think it's using data past the cutoff but im not totally sure. The alarm goes off even if mute selected but suggest the trial and error method to be sure. That's what I did.

Yeah that wasn't really made clear when I created the @me account, I thought it was necessary. The usernames are not the same, actually my mobile me address was just one of my existing
Email accounts, it didn't have @me as the domain. how would you know if the transfer between mobile me and iCloud is complete?

When I click on the arrows, it's essentially the same...they say play sound or send email, remote lock and remote wipe. On the one that says no location found, there is something on the bottom that says email when found (on or off). I only ever had one iPhone (the iPhone 4) so I'm confused as to why it would indicate two devices for my iPhone in the first place.

You can also back up on iCloud manually from the iPhone, no? I believe I did that already.

How would I go about doing that, as I can't get ITunes to do it for some reason.

So you're saying if you have wifi and iTunes on a pc and you plug the iPhone into the computer, it will perform a backup automatically?

If you go into iCloud from settings on the iPhone and the storage and backup, at the bottom there's a tab that says "back up now" that you can press.

Since backups have to be powered, yes, you can backup manually. I do. I have iTunes set to not backup unless I click the sync button

But mine performs a backup right from the iPhone without being connected to the computer. At least that's what it says.

iCloud & reminders issues

For some reason only some of my Yahoo contacts show up on in the iCloud, but none of them from my outlook account (which is what I really want) also none of my calendar item, any ideas?

Also, is there a way to get the reminder list to be sorted by due date, going to the date option isn't helpful at all

I believe it's in the summary tab, although it doesn't work for me at the moment.

Where do you find that option on iTunes?

Since backups have to be powered, yes, you can backup manually. I do. I have iTunes set to not backup unless I click the sync button

Mine seems to back up right from the iPhone, I just go to iCloud from settings, the backup and storage, and at the bottom there's a tab that says backup now and it does it when I press it.

Riddle me this.

Ok, got a household full of mobile apple devices. Each one belonging
to a family member. Nobody wants to share an iCloud account due to
limited 5GB of space, wants their own contacts, calendar, reminders
etc. ok, easy to do. Everyone now has their own .me address and iCloud
account. Everyone is using the same apple ID for purchases, so apps,
music and movies are all good across all devices.

But why in the $*%@!!! is find my iPhone part of this!!! Now I've got
to keep track of all these various iCloud accounts if we ever misplace
a device or it's stolen. Why can't I have all the devices listed under
one account and still have everyone's daily life data separate. I just
can't find a way to do it.

Create a new AppleID using a new .me address and add it to your accounts on
all your devices. You can enable only Find My iPhone for that account.
