I haven't received my posts in probably 8 years, one of the MANY reasons I
prefer Google Groups...

Are you using Thunderbird as your mail reader? I do not get a copy of my
own posts using if I use Thunderbird to make a post... I do get a copy
if I actually go to the group's homepage and make a posting through the
message portal there.

If you post from the web interface they will be emailed to you but
if you email them in, you will not get a copy. My guess is being you
emailed them in, you should have a copy in your sent items folder
so they don't send you a copy.

Only a guess.

Is it happening with any other email provider?

Check if they are going to spam folder.
Since sender address is same as receiver address, many spam filters consider it as a spam.

Most of my groups are Yahoo Groups; I am on individual e-mail in all of them; and I have always gotten my messages to the list back in my inbox as from the list, and still do.

Are you sure you haven't somehow put your own address on your blacklist?
What system/mail client are you using?

I see my own posts (for the several groups I am on). I usually send from my
PC/Win7/WLM & only occasionally from my iphone. I do not use yahoo or gmail,
I use my ISPs mail.

I see all my messages whether I'm d/l to my phone, Mailwasher, or WLM, or
looking at messages on my ISP web-mail interface or the group's Yahoo page.

Yes, Gmail discards as duplicates our own messages being returned. Messages
in Inbox and Sent Mail are combined into "conversations" so duplicates would
just confuse things.

Sprint's iPhone 4S launch details revealed

Who wants to bet there is going to be AT LEAST one Sprint employee
fired. There has to be someone working in a retail store who will open
it and knowing Apple the boxes aren't just sealed with packing tape,
there are security sensors ;-).

Sent to you by Bill Boulware via Google Reader: Sprint's iPhone 4S
launch details revealed via BGR: The Three Biggest Letters In Tech by
Jonathan S. Geller on 10/10/11

We've got the run-down on how exactly Sprint is going to launch its
first ever Apple product, and it seems pretty intense. Then again, with
Apple involved, would you expect anything else? Here's what's going to
happen… Apple, or an independent contractor, not Sprint, will be coming
to all corporate retail locations to set up the iPhone 4S displays in
the next few days, most likely Thursday. We're told that Apple and the
company's team gets to choose where the iPhone 4S displays will go in
each store, not Sprint. More after the break.

After the displays are installed, it seems that the stores will close
for the rest of the day to give the locations time to prepare for
Friday's launch. We are told iPhone 4S devices will be shipped
overnight to retail store locations on Wednesday, and all employees are
under strict orders to not open any of the iPhone boxes or related
materials. In fact, Sprint has communicated to employees that Apple's
team will be there on Thursday, and if any boxes are tampered with or
opened, employees "will be fired immediately and walked out of the
store."

Sprint will start selling the iPhone 4S alongside AT&T and Verizon
Wireless starting this Friday at 8:00 a.m. local time.

I checked with Best Buy last Friday. I am eligible for an ATT upgrade after
15 months with my 4. Also, they will pay me $271 for my 4. I'll be there
Friday morning!
====================================================

Odd.
I checked my upgrade elibility with ATT -- just out of curiosity;
I got my 4 the minute they came out i.e the earliest possible, so it's been
a tad under 16 months. I was a new ATT customer at the time, not upgrading
from anything, so was starting from scratch on any countdown timer.

My upgrade price now is something like $250 more than if I wait until
February. (And that upgrade date doesn't make any sense -- it's something
like, but not exactly, 20 months from beginning of contract.)

Maybe you're paying more now & only "making up the difference" with the
trade-in they'll give you.

The only thing I can think of to explain this difference, perhaps, is that I have been an ATT customer since first iPhone and I have max data and minutes.

Upgrade date is determined by the amount you pay on THAT line, account
standing (bill paid in full, on time, etc), date of last upgrade, etc. This
can be moved up, at most, by 30 days at the discretion of an AT&T store
manager - Apple can do not anything about upgrade dates.

"Early" upgrades are typically 6-12 months after the last upgrade for sub
lines and are (up to) $250 more than a "full discount upgrade".

IE I have 5 lines on a "family" plan - the first line is mine and costs the
most per month as the "base rate" is billed to that line, plus $30 unlimited
data, plus $30 unlimited family text - it is ~$110/mo on that line alone and
I am eligible for an upgrade a year and a day after my last upgrade - it has
been the same each year.

The other 4 lines on my account are either $9.99/mo or $39.99/mo (2 have
data plans and 2 do not) the ones with data plans are eligible every 18
months and the ones without data are eligible after 20 months. Two of them
are eligible for Full upgrades and the other two are considered "Early" and
would cost me $449/$549/$649.

Apple plans celebration of Steve Jobs' life for October 19th,

Sent to you by Bill Boulware via Google Reader: Apple plans celebration
of Steve Jobs' life for October 19th, 10am PT via 9to5Mac by Jordan
Kahn on 10/10/11

Tim Cook has sent out an internal email to Apple employees informing
them of a celebration of Steve Jobs' life planned for October 19th in
the outdoor amphitheater of Apple's Infinite Loop campus in Cupertino.

Team,

Like many of you, I have experienced the saddest days of my lifetime
and shed many tears during the past week. But I've found some comfort
in the extraordinary number of tributes and condolences from people all
over the world who were touched by Steve and his genius. And I've found
comfort in both telling and listening to stories about Steve.

Although many of our hearts are still heavy, we are planning a
celebration of his life for Apple employees to take time to remember
the incredible things Steve achieved in his life and the many ways he
made our world a better place. The celebration will be held on
Wednesday, October 19, at 10am in the outdoor amphitheater on the
Infinite Loop campus. We'll have more details on AppleWeb closer to the
date, including arrangements for employees outside of Cupertino.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Tim

iPhone 4S: Leaked Hands-On With Siri [VIDEO]

Sent to you by Bill Boulware via Google Reader: iPhone 4S: Leaked
Hands-On With Siri [VIDEO] via Mashable! by Chris Taylor on 10/10/11

Usually a shaky video of a phone in use is not a big deal — that all
changes when that phone is Apple's iPhone 4S, five days before its
launch.

The sound-free video, above, leaked on the Japanese forum AppVV.com,
appears to show a 4S being put through its paces. The BrowserMark
number is significant as it's roughly double the number you'll get on
an iPhone 4 running iOS 5 — meaning the iPhone 4S will browse the web
at twice the speed of its predecessor.

The site does not explain how the phone was obtained ahead of launch.
So how do we know it really is an iPhone 4S? Because Siri appears to be
baked right into the OS — note the preferences screen that allows you
to select English (in Australian, British or American dialects), French
or German. Also note the options to have Siri talk back and to activate
the service when you lift the phone to your ear.

Want to learn more about Siri? We have its history, and an interview
with the app's co-creator, here.

Despite a number of improvements to the hardware within the upcoming
iPhone 4S, it's looking like one component that will remain the same is
the amount of built-in memory.

MacRumors this morning points to a report from China-based AppVV.com,
which seems to have gotten its hands on an iPhone 4S ahead of Friday's
launch. The site has posted photos and videos of the device in action,
including the new Siri voice assistant.

In a post over the weekend, the person with the device also notes that

upcoming iPhone 4S-centric game Infinity Blade 2, who in an interview

Another I Phone 4 Question

Hi,

I put a photo of my dog as the wallpaper on my I phone. I was trying to move all the icons down to the bottom of the screen so they weren't covering her face but they keep moving back up except for the line of 4 that always stay at the bottom. Is there a way all the icons can be moved to the bottom of the I phone 4 screen so the top part is clear & you can see my dog's face in the photo?

Thanks.

Janice
