I had similar positive experience with iPhone 4 and 3GS.

Yep. My upgrade went great. W7(64) PC. I have access to a very fast Internet work. Took 22 min to download and another 35 to install. I started at 1:30 yesterday. Must have got lucky and got mine done before the crowd.

Downloaded the upgrade last night. Just let it run and had no problems. Did
the upgrade this afternoon with no problems. It wipes all apps from the
iPhone so that you have to resync them. However, it kept all the data and
settings for the apps. Folders on the iPhone were not kept so I am in the
process of customizing the layout again.

I was finally able to get my 3GS to upgrade. When I did I had no content on my phone what so ever. It was just like a new phone, only 3GS. I did a sync on my wife's computer and recovered everything except almost all of my pictures and some movies of my grandson whom I rarely get to see. Not real happy right now. Funny how I still had about 30 pics but not all

Re: iOS 5 taking all night

I was getting very frustrated because my restore kept crashing. On the
third try it finally went through but hung when it tried to restore the
apps. I have to admit, I have a lot of them.
I finally just unplugged the USB and plugged it back in. It started up
restoring my music, etc. Then it synced with no other incident. It did
take quite a long time though. Keep in mind that I have lost photos etc
with updates so I took precautions to protect my files. Good luck.

Re: [apple-iphone] Unprecedented Demand For iOS 5 And iCloud Almost

Oh pish tosh. It's a ridiculous jump from a 50% traffic increase at a
NAP to "broke the internet". As the quoted article says "There was as
much traffic as we would see for a major sporting event (such as
England playing in the World or European cups).". And major sporting
and other events happen with great regularity without "breaking the
internet".

It *is* impressive that Apple generated this much traffic - and Apple
should *know* better, as everyone here has been pointing out - but the
main people who suffered are probably the network engineers at Apple,
and it sounds like their network got shaky but did not collapse. And
it does sound like London could use a bit more bandwidth.

WiFi tests

Just out of curiosity....

I ran some test on my computer network, which my iphone 4 4.3.3 is connected via WIFI and found out:

If you leave WIFI ON when running on the battery only, after a few seconds sleep (locked) it will turn WIFI OFF (and back on when unlocked)

But if it is plugged on USB, WIFI will remain ON locked or not...

So if you leave WIFI on all the time, theorically will have little to no impact on battery life unless you have you phone awake all the time.

3G or EDGE seems not to change when it is sleep or awake so if you leave them on they will remain on no matter what.

So if you want to save battery, it is a good idea to leave only WIFI and EDGE on (Cellular Data) on so you still receive push or other data info from the network if this is the case and only turn 3G on when needed.

iMessenger can only be used iPhone to iPhone. SMS works between any phone.
