Password problem on 4s
Posted by: "zanec" zanec36@gmail.com zanec36

Just got my new 4S and everything seems to be working as advertised except the iTunes password. I can access my account on my desktop, download apps on my iPad, but when I try to use the app store on my 4S, it will not accept the password. I have even changed it in the iTunes store and the new password works on the desktop and iPad but still not on the 4S.
I guess I will have to make the long journey to the Apple store genius bar unless someone can give me an idea on how to fix this....

I'm curious about that too. I pre-ordered my phone from Rogers (the original Canadian iPhone licensee when the 3G came out) last weekend and I was told to expect a "weekly" update on where my order is. Got the first email from them today:
"We are allocating inventory to the Reservation System. We have already
started to ship some reserved orders. As more inventory becomes
available in the next few days, we'll continue to ship reserved orders.
If you don't get an email letting you know your device is ready this
weekend, fear not, you're still on the list and you will get one!"
Starting on Monday, I can log in to their website to see how far along my order has been processed. I'd foolishly assumed that by pre-ordering (and paying the $40 pre-order fee) I would actually have a chance to get the new phone a bit sooner than whatever timeframe is implied by the fact they'll be sending out weekly email updates!

Nicholas

Cloud questions

I updated my iphone 4 -- took 3 tries because it wouldn't restore, but
finally OK.
When I first turned on my phone I had to set it up and was given the choice
of backing up to the cloud or to my computer. I chose the cloud. It then
told me that I had used half of my allotted Cloud space.
So what happens when I upgrade my ipad 2? I've been afraid to try.
And what happens when my Cloud storage goes over my allotment? Is there a
charge?
Thanks,
Carol

AT&T subscribers complain of delayed, canceled iPhone 4S pre-orders
Posted by: "Bill Boulware" bill.boulware@gmail.com boulware0224

http://feedproxy.google.com/ ~r/TheBoyGeniusR eport/~3/ ZMnmoAkUkGU/
Sent to you by Bill Boulware via Google Reader: AT&T subscribers
complain of delayed, canceled iPhone 4S pre-orders via BGR: The Three
Biggest Letters In Tech by Zach Epstein on 10/14/11
Appleâs iPhone 4S became available to the general public today, and the
launch appears to have been an overwhelming success. Yankee Group
analyst Carl Howe believes Apple could close out the weekend having
sold as many as 4 million new iPhones. Weâve been hearing from proud
new iPhone owners across the country all day â" and weâve also been
hearing about all the crazy things theyâve been asking poor Siri â" but
weâve also heard from an unhappy minority that seems to have fallen
victim to fulfillment problems. Read on for more.
Updated with comment from AT&T.
Beyond an odd complaint here and there, things seem to be going well
for Verizon Wireless and Sprint subscribers who emailed us today. Weâve
also heard from plenty of happy AT&T customers, but there appears to
have been an issue with pre-sales in some cases, and a number of AT&T
customers have emailed us with war stories.
â[An AT&T customer care representative] confirmed phones would be
shipping to customers for arrival on 10/14, but when nothing in my
account changed I spoke with 2 others who confirmed all phones will be
shipping with a 2 to 3 week delay,â one reader told BGR in an email.
âFor someone who purchased early the morning of 10/7 this is a complete
let down.â
Several more BGR readers offered similar complaints, saying that orders
placed early in the morning on October 7th are now being delayed by two
or more weeks. A few other readers found that their orders had been
canceled with no explanation given.
As it turns out, customers who had their orders canceled often found
themselves in a better position than subscribers with delays. Those who
tried to cancel their delayed orders with the intention of going to a
retail store to purchase a new phone have often times been unable to do
so, according to multiple emails we received. Due to the pending order
status, customers would be forced to pay full MSRP for new iPhones
since their accounts are no longer eligible for subsidized upgrades.
Dealings with customer care have been mixed to this point, according to
accounts given by BGR readers. Several emails recount lengthy
conversations that led nowhere as customer service was unable to
determine the status of iPhone orders. At least one BGR reader said
that AT&T offered to waive the $18 upgrade fee on his account, however
he was still unaware of the status of his order at the time this
article was published.
Customers with war stories always shout louder than those for whom
orders have gone smoothly, and considering AT&T took in more than
200,000 pre-orders on October 7th alone, there were bound to be some
bumps in the road.
UPDATE: AT&T provided the following statement to BGR via email: âWe are
fulfilling orders on schedule in nearly every case. We are aware of a
small number of customers who have questions about their delivery
timing and are working with one-on-one with each to answer questions.â

One of the big new features in iOS 5 is liberation from your sync
cable. Now, you can sync your music, movies, and apps all over
Wi-Fiâ"albeit a bit slower than over USB. How much slower? We put it to
the test to find out whether it was still fast enough to be worth your

Has anyone else used the find my iPhone app? I'm trying to understand why when I log in to it, it shows my iPhone as two different devices, one that when you press it goes to the map, and has a green connected light on it. The other brings me to where it asks you about emailing or playing a sound. This one shows up with a red light as though it's not connected, but I know it is. Anyone know why it would tell me it's not connected?

Adding Your Own Vibrations Via iOS 5

http://appadvice.com/appnn/ 2011/10/adding- your-own- vibrations- via-ios-5
Sent to you by Brent via Google Reader: Adding Your Own Vibrations Via
iOS 5 via App Advice by Bryan M. Wolfe on 10/14/11
In recent days, weâve gotten a lot of requests from readers wondering
if you can create custom vibrations using iOS 5. And answer is yes you
can and hereâs how.
First, youâll need to turn on Custom Vibrations. Do this by going
Settings > General > Accessibility. Make sure to move the slider from
Off to On for Custom Vibrations.
From here, youâll want to create your first vibration. To do so, select
General at the top left of your screen, followed by Settings. Tap
Sounds and then scroll to the bottom where youâll see Vibration
Patterns.
Next, Tap on Vibration. Here youâll see find five standard vibration
patterns including Alert, Heartbeat, Rapid, S.O.S., and Symphony. Below
that is the choice for Custom, which you should select.
On this screen, youâll be able to create a vibration pattern (up to 15
seconds) by selecting Recording and then tapping on the pad. When done,
you can save the pattern, play it back, or record to create another one.
Finally, once you create a vibration you like, save it and name it to
whatever you want. From there, youâll be able to use this custom
vibration, like all others, for calls, messages, emails, and other
notifications.
We hope our readers can benefit from this new tool!

I don't quite "get" Photo Stream and iCloud. On my iPhone 4 with iOS
5 I have some pictures in Camera Roll and some in Photo Stream, what
does one do to have a picture appear in either Camera Roll or Photo
Stream? Also when I go to icloud I see my mail, reminders, etc but
nothing about pictures that are stored there. Can you access the
pictures via iCloud or is in invisible storage only ?
