Archie, my reply was sarcasm and smoke. The rumor I was creating was based on smoke and logic, but no fact.

I think it's a little overhyped as most I know with ATT don't even know
they can do that and after being with ATT 3 years before I don't think
I ever used it or had a need.

Loss of unlimited for me is like having EDGE again. :>

I agree. Not having simultaneous voice and data is like having only EDGE all

That is true. To be honest. I use both at same time a lot.

I thought that's what it supposed to do. Until I learned that verizon cannot do it.

Not sure it is a deal breaker or maker. But I like that option.

I know I have it but have no idea how to actually *do* it.

I don't make that many voice calls & don't want to hang up on someone by
klutzy mistake. I'm leery of doing *anything* else while on a voice call,
probably because I just don't get enough (any?) practice. :-)

It's a piece of cake. I use it almost daily. While on a call, put them
on speakerphone, unless you're on some bluetooth device then you can
skip that step. Press the home button. Browse the web or whatever.

If you want to get back to the phone screen just tap the green bar
along the top to return.

Practice is a good word

Maybe try calling a hotline or number that just has recordings. (no live person)

Then try and do data.

If u cut them off. Who cares. They weren't listening anyway?

The pressure

Daily tip: How to manually transfer data from your old iPhone to you

Posted by: "Brent" flapdoodle@gmail.com   flapdoodle44

Sent to you by Brent via Google Reader: Daily tip: How to manually
transfer data from your old iPhone to your new iPhone 4S via TiPb -
The #1 iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch blog by Allyson Kazmucha on 10/10/11

Switching from an old iPhone to the new iPhone 4S and wondering how you
can transfer your data over? Luckily, iTunes makes this process almost
painless. After your initial transfer to your new device, iOS 5 and
iCloud will make the process even easier from here on out. But if for
some reason you still need to transfer your data manually, we’ve got
you covered!

If you’ve ever had to swap an iPhone out at an Apple store, you’re
probably already familiar with this process. If not, follow these easy
steps to copy data to your new phone. This process will save all your
contacts, camera roll photos, apps, and settings into an iTunes backup
for you.

- Plug your current iPhone into your computer and open iTunes.
- If it doesn’t start to sync automatically, click the Sync button.
(You can alternately right click your device name in the navigation bar
and click back up as well. Either way will work just fine.)
- Unplug your current iPhone and plug in your new iPhone.
- You’ll be asked to register your iPhone if you haven’t already.
- iTunes should prompt you to do one of two things, set up as a new
iPhone or restore from a backup. Choose to restore from a backup and
select the backup you just made.
- Once the restore is done your iPhone will reboot. When iTunes detects
it again it will start to sync back any apps and games your old iPhone
had installed.
- Let iTunes do its thing. When you come back, your new phone should
have all the same settings and data as your old one!
After you’ve done a manual transfer you’ll have the option to use
iCloud backups in the future. If you have any questions or have issues,
check out our TiPb Forums for all the help you could ever need!

The last time I ordered an iPhone through AT&T it did not ship until the day
before delivery. It was shipped FEDEX overnight from Memphis. I hope this is
happens the same way.

Memphis is an international HUB for FedEx if i am not mistaken. Everything
in the country usually routes thru there.
Its possible that since these are coming from over seas that the
manufacturer has them sent there for customs purposes, then from there
individually sent to the customers.

But thats just my guess.

This was from Sprint. There was something before this a couple
days ago that said the iPhone's are already in their warehouse
and will be shipped in the order they received them.

I was up trying at 3am and the website was down, still down at
4am and I got thru about 4:45am so I hope I am in the first batch.

I've still not gotten a shipping e-mail. I got my order reservation to apple.com in by 4 a.m. CDT but it wouldn't let me confirm the order until later in the morning, maybe 10:30 a.m. I've tried clicking the order status link on the order confirmation e-mail I received Friday, but i only get sent to an error-message page.

Still hopeful of Friday though.

I hate to tell you this, but I'm pumped about it... my little iPhone
4S 64 arrived in Louisville, KY (UPS) this morning! It shipped out
of China yesterday, got into Alaska last night, and bada-boom-bada-
bing its in Kentucky today.

YeeHaa!

You know, with other pre-ordered iPhones, weren't there reports of
arrivals before the actual launch date? I wonder if that could
happen with this? I mean Kentucky is only a few states away from
Texas. Heck, feasibly it could be here tomorrow. Wouldn't that be
great!

Onward and upward!

Sent to you by Bill Boulware via Google Reader: iPhone 4S clocked at
800MHz, still crushes iPhone 4 (and everyone else) as advertised via
9to5Mac by Christian Zibreg on 10/11/11

The first SunSpider and BrowserMark benchmarks 9to5Mac told you about
yesterday confirmed the iPhone 4S as being “twice as fast”, per Apple’s
tagline. Today, AnandTech published a more thorough analysis based on
Javascript, CPU and GPU benchmarks of Apple’s latest handset. Thanks to
the dual-core A5 chip first outed with iPad 2 this Spring, Javascript
performance on iPhone 4S “finally catches up to Tegra 2 based Honeycomb
devices, while general CPU performance is significantly higher than the
iPhone 4″ â€" about 68 percent, to be precise.

More importantly, Geekbench results (seen below) tell us that iPad 2 is
clocked around “25 percent higher than the iPhone 4S”. Overall, the
Apple-designed dual-core A5 chip inside iPhone 4S is estimated to run
at 800MHz versus iPad 2′s 1GHz A5 processor. This isn’t entirely
unexpected due to the battery concerns and the handset’s much smaller
5.25 Whr battery. Furthermore, Apple says iPhone 4S has “up to seven
times faster graphics” versus the advertised “nine times faster
graphics” on the iPad 2 â€" another proof that the two device’s graphics
processing units are not clocked equally.

As we predicted, Imagination Technologies’ PowerVR SGX543 graphics
units ticking inside the iPhone 4S is also twice as fast as the
ARM-based Mali-400 GPU found in the Samsung-designed 1.2GHz Exynos 4210
processor (they recently announced the improved 4212 chip) found inside
the Galaxy SII smartphone. By all accounts, the iPhone 4S has the
fastest graphics in a smartphone yet. Anand Lal Shimpi and Brian Klug
explain:

A lower clock not only means higher yields from the factory, but likely
a lower operating voltage as well. Dropping a CPU’s core voltage,
yields a greater-than-linear decrease in power consumption, making the
marginal loss in clock speed a good choice. At a lower operating
frequency than its Android competitors, Apple does have to exploit its
strengths in software to avoid any tangible performance penalties.
Apple has traditionally done this very well in the past, so I don’t
expect the loss of frequency to be a huge deal to the few who do
cross-shop iOS and Android.

GLBenchmark 2.1 (see results at the bottom of the article) paints the
iPad 2 as having a 21 percent performance advantage over the iPhone 4S,
stemming from different clock speeds. All said, both iPad 2 and iPhone
4S are well-equipped devices and are more than capable to run the
latest games and graphics-intensive applications “at well north of 30
frames per second”. Summing up, game developers will likely optimize
graphics in their titles for the iPhone 4S rather than for the iPad 2
in order to avoid the undesired performance penalties on the iPhone 4S.
The Apple-designed, Samsung-manufactured A5 chip is thought to pack in
a dual-core Cortex-A9 processing core from ARM Holdings, Imagination
Technologies’ PowerVR SGX543 MP2 graphics unit (also dual-core) and
debatable 1GB of RAM. Granted, those specs are not official as Apple
doesn’t divulge chip details and its partners are equally tight-lipped
on the matter so the expected x-ray analysis should shed more light on
the iPhone 4S processor’s innards.

It's a voice plan for the over-65s. Costs $10 less than the regular basic
plan but has fewer minutes & no rollover. Need to provide proof of age.
Check ATT web site page about all the plans, which is where I first found
out about it.
