Great pictures come along unexpectedly. iPhone users rarely plan to shoot a picture. Rather, the opportunity presents itself, and the user is present with the iPhone they carry everywhere. The same is true of video. No one can predict when their two-year old daughter will perform her first somersault, but a video of that moment will be saved for a long time and viewed again and again. The problem is that ordinarily it takes about 10 - 15 seconds to start recording video, and by that time it may be too late. 1TapVideo cuts that down to two or three seconds, allowing the user to save the event on video as it is happening.

Touching the app's icon immediately launches the familiar iPhone virtual camera iris. A timer counts down 3-2-1, the iris opens, and video recording automatically begins. The user can tap on the shot button to stop it and start recording immediately. Launching the camera, choosing the front or rear camera, switching from stills to video, and starting the recording process are all bypassed with a single tap on the 1TapVideo icon. Users do not need to remember to start recording. A bell sounds and a red dot lights when recording begins automatically, and two bells sound and the red light goes out when the user stops recording. If the user is finished recording, the app also offers quick-stop; touching the iPhone Home button quits the app, while video is saved in the background.

Plants can be browsed by 16 categories, marked as favorites, and searched for based on their name, color, type, sun, water, grow rate, size, and other characteristics. Most plants include cultivation information, common uses, and potential problems they may have. Users can add their own notes and images to each plant.

The Mac version also takes advantage of the larger screen real estate and features of Mac OS X Lion, such as full-screen mode, and gestures for scrolling through images.
