I give up. It just wont upgrade. I have tried everything short of installing Itunes on my WIN7 machine and trying to upgrade from it. I wonder what kind of probs that would cause?

The error 3200 has to do with the apple servers...it is overloaded..should be fixed as time goes by...try tomorrow...

Regarding bricked iphone, try to place your phone on DFU mode..(google) and try again

Caution *Paul*.

I very much doubt that your iPhone 4 is "bricked", unless of course you ignore all the advice as to how to restore it to normal function.

I would start by answering Bill's question. And following his suggestions.

V5 crashes all add-in apps and iBooks on iPhone 3GS

Posted by: "Tim" thutches@ihmc.us   thutches

Wed Oct 12, 2011 2:11 pm (PDT)

I just completed a normal upgrade of my 3GS from V4.3.5 and now find that all of my apps from the app store crash immediately (ie, vanish but remain in tray) as soon as I tap their icon. And that inlcudes the iBooks app, although the somewhat similar Newstand app works fine. the Google app, CNN app etc., all crash.

The 'classic' apps like the Calculator, Clock, Calendar are fine.

Anyone else seeing this?

Have you restored from backup? If so try downloading the app again. iPhone backups always gives me trouble..

Rod, that works. All that I had to do was delete the app in iTunes and then go back to the appstore and reinstall. That said, there are a lot of apps that I like to use. Hope I don't have to do that for all of them.

Thanks for the heads up.

Iphone 3GS update success

Posted by: "Joan" jheitzeb1@yahoo.com   jheitzeb1

Wed Oct 12, 2011 2:13 pm (PDT)

I successfully updated to iOS5. Took awhile, despite the fact that I had backed up, cleaned up apps, folders yesterday. The problem I had was that I was typing in the background on another site and when the message came up after the install started it some how triggered a STOP in the message. So it had to restore and took awhile.

Now upgrading my iPad. Hopefully this will go smoother.

What do you mean by app store apps working ok? Do you mean new apps I download now or that are already on the iphone?

I have been testing some of my favorite apps that are already on my device and they seem to be working fine.

One odd thing on my iPhone in the email accounts, one of my email accounts is listed twice. I will try later to delete one or both and re-add probably. But I want to make sure everything gets updated on my ipad first.

Good grief! Having 'repaired' only one app, GraphCalc by Gabor Nagy, by reloading it from the appstore, now they all work! Go figure that one...

Re: Apple sells over 1 million iPhone 4S handsets in first 24 hours

Posted by: "Keith" nealykeith@gmail.com   nealykeith

Wed Oct 12, 2011 2:29 pm (PDT)

I tried to be one of those. I ordered mine through ATT at 7:20 PM on Friday the 7th. Then tried to confirm that the order went through and was told I had to wait 24 hours for confirmation. So I call back over 24 hrs. later and am told I need to wait 48 hours. So I call back 55 hours later and they tell me they have no record of the order even though I have a confirmation order number which I copied and pasted from their web page.

This system was designed to anger customers. Now I'm at the end of the line because I didn't dare to reorder it before I knew whether the first order had gone through. Having waited for 2 days for this confirmation I now have to wait 21-28 days as opposed to this Friday.

When I called them, ATT put me on hold for 20 minutes, then told me they'd call me back. Next day - no call. I called again and they again put me on hold (I'm talking about a real person put me on hold, not a robot) and 15 minutes later came back to tell me that they couldn't talk to me now, would I like to know about their internet service. They'd have a supervisor call me within the hour.

Hours later I get a text message saying they tried to call me unsuccessfully and would try again in a half hour, though I've been in exactly the same place all the time where I got the text message. Thirty-five minutes later I get a second text message saying they're sorry but they can't help me and point out that there is a restriction on the number of lines I can have. I had done nothing to change my lines or inquire about them and only have two.

Thank you ATT. If I set out to design a company to anger customers, I'd model it on ATT.

So I call back over 24 hrs. later and am told I need to wait 48 hours. So I call back 55 hours later and they tell me they have no record of the order even though I have a confirmation order number which I copied and pasted from their web page.

I called again and they again put me on hold (I'm talking about a real person put me on hold, not a robot) and 15 minutes later came back to tell me that they couldn't talk to me now, would I like to know about their internet service. They'd have a supervisor call me within the hour.

Thirty-five minutes later I get a second text message saying they're sorry but they can't help me and point out that there is a restriction on the number of lines I can have. I had done nothing to change my lines or inquire about them and only have two.

I *think* that stuff you got through iTunes (iTunes U, downloaded shows and movies, music, apps) do not use up backup space in the cloud. HOME movies are another issue entirely.
