Court Sentences Men Accused of Selling iPhone 4 Prototype to Gizmodo

It looks like the iPhone 4 debacle is getting one step closer to its end, as Brian Hogan, the man who found the iPhone 4 prototype last year, and Sage Wallower, the man who helped Hogan pitch the sale of the device to tech blogs, have been sentenced by the court.

The two were sentenced to one year of probation, 40 hours of public service, and a requirement to pay $250 each in restitution to Apple…(...)

The Apple TV Gets a Silent Update

Today, Apple released iOS 4.4 for the Apple TV 2G. Apple did not release an official iOS 5 update for Apple TV users as expected.

As noted by the folks over at Electronista, Apple did however release iOS 4.4 for the Apple TV. This update adds iOS 5 features, but is still called iOS 4. Today Apple released the Cards app for iOS, which allows you create cards and mail them. Apple showed this app at their latest keynote, along with the iPhone 4S. This app lets you make custom cards on your iPhone and send them to any address in the world.

Text Message Alert Tones Now Available in iTunes

Unless you jailbroke your iPhone, one downside of iOS was that you were not able to extra text message and alert tones. You were limited to the tones in the Settings app.

Apple released iOS 5 to the public only moments ago, and it’s already been confirmed that you can jailbreak the final version of iOS 5 with RedSn0w and Sn0wBreeze.

MuscleNerd and iH8sn0w both confirmed that, since the public version of iOS 5 is exactly the same as the developer GM, a tethered jailbreak can be performed with the lastest versions of both jailbreak tools.(...)
