That's the same thing I did. I got the Internal Error message, then error 3014 or something like that, phone wouldn't respond, all I could do is restore as new from my backup. IOS5 installed fine after that.

I read this on mac9-5.com today...Hope this helps with understanding why your having problems unless someone else let you know this.
Good Luck,
Chris in PA

Users on Apple's help forums have begun reporting that they're not able to activate iOS 5, noting that Apple's activation servers are beginning to go down. Users are left with a 3200 error code, and unable to finish the activation. This isn't a good situation by any means leaving users, in some cases, with almost bricked devices until Apple can get things back up to speed. Many users on the forums have reported that they're able to get their devices activated after trying a few more times. You'll recall Apple had similar outages during the iPhone 3G release.

It was undoubtedly a smart move by Apple to release the iPhone 4S two days after iOS 5. All of these activations of both iOS 5 and 4S together would have just been a mess. Also looking through the support forums you'll find reports of OS X 10.7.2 and iCloud issues probably related to Apple's overcrowded servers.

As we noted earlier, Apple updated just about every product it makes today. Perhaps spreading out the load over a few days would have helped.

For what it's worth, later in the day I tried it again and the update
went smoothly. (Not sure whether having restarted the computer in the
meantime had anything to do with it or whether it was just a case of
busy servers.)

I had the same problem - there is an update to Lion - you can't install iSO5 without updating to 10.7.2. That update came out today.

Hmmmm. I had the same thing happen this morning a few times. I think that because of the servers being hammered, it finally downloaded and installed. I was getting corrupt downloads.

Just verified through a friend with the same problem that indeed fixing just one app by reloading, fixes them all.

Good news indeed, Steve is watching apparently.

Have you checked for updates for your apps. I updated 4 times yesterday and this morning after the iOS 5 update, 14 more needed updating.

I have been in a continuous loop trying to update/upgrade. It gets throught the extracting software bar, then I get the 3200 code. It has happened about seven or eight times for me. Fortunately I still have functionality, i.e. not bricked.

Guess I'll try again later this evening.

Please Help: Updated to iOs5, but lost app folders with 293 apps

Wed Oct 12, 2011 7:34 pm (PDT)

Hi Everyone:

I was hoping someone could be able to help me. I successfully updated my iPhone 4 to iOS5 with my MacBook. My iPhone had all my folders still in it correctly. However, on my iTunes screen (via MacBook) it listed each app individually and I mistakingly clicked on "apply" rather than "revert" because I thought everything was done.

I have ALOT of apps and now they are no longer in folders. It takes a couple hours to sort through it all and make all the folders again from scratch. Can anyone please tell me how to get my iPhone 4 back with my folders from my previous/last sync (which was immediately before updating to iOS5).

Thanks alot! I greatly appreciate it.
