I deleted all the music, books, lg apps before because I read these items might slow down the sync. Had no problems with my 32gb iPhone however it did take about 3 hours.

Hmmm. Wonder what top secrets are going on inside.

Was going to take some pictures.... forget it. It is a huge complex I think. Maybe the size of a regional Walmart or Target distribution center. There are NO SIGNS at all. Only 2 guard gates one after the other. There is a berm built about 10 feet high all the way around the entire complex. Looks like a top secret military base. You cannot see anything. There is even a 2nd berm inside offset so that you cant see anything through the gate. A brand new volunteer fire dept is built next door. Also they have built a barb wire fence about 50 ft out from the berm so you cant walk up on it and look. and some kind of evergreen trees are planted on top of the berm that presumably will grow together. Quite a site.

Good idea. Books, music, photos take forever to sync on an update. I backup, then remove them. When I go to put them
Back on, I always think about which ones I haven't looked at or listened to in a long while and leave them off.

I have a 'Family pack' of MobilMe.

My primary 'me.com email is synced, but am wondering about my other 'me.com' addresses. Do I go in and sign in to iCloud for these as well?

You can convert each of them to iCloud and they become individual accounts.
The master account will have the 'free' 25GB of space for a year.

This is gonna be a strange question? I sent myself iMessage from iPad to my iPhone number. I received it. I sent one back it said not received. But it went to my sons iPad. It is under my account. How can I send iMessage between my iPad and his? Neither one has 3G.

Settings > Messages > Receive At > Add person specific e-mail addresses

and

Settings > Messages > Receive At > Caller ID > set to person and/or device
specific address

I have all of my devices (including iPhone) set to an e-mail address so
everything I send shows up as being from my e-mail and when people reply
back I receive it on both devices. If you want each device or person
separate add the e-mails and set the "Caller ID" (same holds true for
Settings > FaceTime).

I had the &^%&$% "Subject" window open, and when I typed what I thought was a message, the Subject line was being filled, but nothing in the BODY was there which is why it wasn't sending.

Off to set up an IV line for caffeine.

Thanks to April in iPad group who imessaged me and helped me discover this.

My issue was..no contacts, photos etc. from the last restore which was
October 12.

The only restore I could do was from December..which is better than nothing.

Apple guy was very patient..but without see his facial expressions.I am
guessing that his systems are running slower than my backups are taking
place.

I have resigned to wait a week or two before trying another restore that
would be more current. I do have a lot of info in-between December and
October.

My other frustrating issue is..itunes/apple ID resets.

I must have reset and changed them 12 times. I can log in on my
laptop...but not on iphone. And apple guy could not help me.

The pressure

Thanks

How do I seperate libraries?

I like most everything about iCloud but have been anxious about one key feature.

On my iPhone I keep most of my music (the rest is on my computer via iTunes, of course). On my iPad I keep my movies. Only short movies are on my phone and zero music is on my iPad.

However I am told that as I acquire and download new music and movies the iCloud feature will see to it that now the iPad will receive a copy of the music and the iPhone will receive a copy of any new movies.

I had assumed that preferences can be set that will keep this from happening but I am not finding such a preference setting. Anybody have any idea how I can accomplish this?

Movies = no, Music, Apps, Books = yes -

Settings > Store - you can turn Apps, Books, Music on or off and turn 3G
on/off (so they all sync over 3G or all over WiFi or any combination).

Thanks Bill, a partial solution then and probably the more important of the two issues.

During beta testing when wifi syncing came, I turned it on and forgot about it until I noticed iPhone apps on my iPad. I disliked that. I looked around for a way to turn off syncing from iPhone to iPad. Didn't find it. Still not there. It's a pain to have to delete from iPad all the time. Apple needs to fix it or I won't use wifi syncing. I'd like to see a way to turn it off and only have it sync to my computer. That way I won't be deleting from my iPad and I'll have a backup on my computer as if I did a corded sync.

My iPhone 4 shows 5.0 (9A334). I did the beta testing up until the GM. Since I would have had to restore to upgrade to GM, I thought I'd wait the week for the release. Did the GM say GM in the About? If it did and it's not there now, you have the upgrade.

Dear Lifehacker,
I just upgraded my iPhone 4 to iOS 5, and my spouse is going to be
getting an iPhone 4S tomorrow. With this iMessage feature I keep
hearing about, is it finally time for me to ditch my text messaging
plan completely so I can save roughly $20 a month? More »

I use one email address for logging into iTunes .. I know that can not change easily .
I use my mobile me email address to log into the cloud and that controls my contacts , iCal and pages in my cloud.

I was wondering if it's possible to change that email address ? And how hard that might be ?

Upgrading my iPhone 4 to iOS 5

All I have read so far about this download and upgrade to iOS 5 has been negative. HAS ANYONE done the upgrade without trouble? I have never had a issue with all the upgrades to my Apple stuff in the past. I'm waiting till things calm down and perhaps some "issues" fixed.

I just updated my Wife's iPhone with no problems. It took about an hour but
it was not Apples fault. She had a lot of apps and music on her phone.

Did it this morning. Plugged in iPhone, chose to just download the
update. Let iPhone do its normal backup. Left the iPhone connected and
did a restore to factory after the update download was done. After it
did the factory restore (which now put me on iOS 5), it asked to set
up as new phone or restore from backup. Restored from my last backup
and all was well.

Took about two hours total.
