Good points, and looks like you use yours like I use mine.

Some podcasts that I subscribe to are usually audio but every once in a while they have a video version. Now I won't know that unless I happen to be looking in the Video app. Also, as far as I can see, there isn't a way to have video playlists. What's up with that? I used to really enjoy making a playlist of video podcasts (like a whole bunch of Rick Steves' Europe podcasts) and watching them while pedaling on my exercise bike. Now I can't do that!

If you are moving your husband from the 3GS to the 4 you will need to go to a store to do it as he will need a new SIM card. The reason is that the 4 has the microSIM versus the 3GS has the regular SIM card. Otherwise you could have simply swapped the SIM cards.

You don't need to go to an Apple Store as they won't likely cut the sim down
as the sim has nothing to do with them.

Instead go to a local mobile phone shop and ask them if they can make the
sim in to a micro sim - but be sure to get the larger bit back as you will
need this should you choose to put the sim back in a regular phone.

Seriously? I totally disagree. In the US, you simply go to an AT&T store (my carrier) and they put in a new SIM and get it activated. All for free!!!

Don't mess with cutting a SIM, there is no reason for that nonsense.

I agree. I've both cut a SIM down and gone to an AT&T store and had things
switched. Going to the AT&T store was by far the best route. :)

No kidding!

I am going to the store tomorrow where my phone is to be delivered to see if they have any in stock. If they do, I will cancel my order and get my $40 back.

Was it a $40 fee on top of the cost of the phone, or $40 prepaid towards the
price of the phone? The former would be quite a rip-off!

There are quotas for each channel of sales and service providers as well as countries ( at later stages) . Each distribution channel has it's own limitations and capacity to handle work load.

You have just described the functions of the app.

Show the location of the phone, send a message and sound to the phone (Like "Reward to return the phone.") and delete all your information on the phone so the thief can not access your stuff.

It is true that server overload was very likely to be a problem and we can
all accept that.

What I cannot accept is the worse-than-useless error messages we got. These
implied there was some problem with the device itself when the updater could
instead have said, "Sorry, our servers are very busy now. Please try later".
This is appalling design not worthy of Apple.

I've always believed in waiting a few days before updating software,
whatever the platform, but this time I broke my rule. I wasted a lot of
time!

Itunes and iOS5 updates comments

I have a Dell laptop running Win7. I had trouble initially installing the iTunes update. It kept telling me there was a problem and to try again. The error referred to a location in C:\ProgramData\Apple\Installer Cache\.
I deleted that folder data and the install went fine.

From there I then updated my ipad 1 2 nights ago and had no problems.
Over night last I did the same with my phone. The only prompt I received was about a couple of contact conflicts and I had to select which to use.

I have several updates pending on the phone apps, but this all went pretty much flawlessly.

Thanks to the group for all the great info that flows through the messages here.

Stuck MicroSIM

So I figured upgrading to my new 4S would be as simple as popping out the
SIM from my 4 and moving it to my 4S. My 4's SIM tray would only pop out a
short bit, and no bit of reasonable tugging would convince it to come all
the way out. Has anyone else dealt with this?

In the end, I pulled out my #00 phillips screwdriver, the iFixit.com
website, and opened it up. Had to take it about 1/3 the way apart and then
I was able to free the SIM. (The phone was already out of warranty, so I
didn't have that to worry about)
