On top of the price of the phone. Canada isn't as large a market, so we don't have as many competitors in the cell phone service area. You go with Rogers or Bell Mobility (all the other companies just repackage Rogers or Bell services as their own). With less competition, they can do things like requiring three-year contracts and adding reservation fees like this one.

I have not moved to iOS 5 or the new iCloud service, so I can not see what you are seeing.

Does it say "not connected" or are you reading that into it?

Ok, I was using the wrong password. I got into Find My iPhone.app.

On the Devices page of the app I see only my one 3GS with a green indicator light, which turned red after 5 minutes, until it again located my one iPhone.

On the next page I have 3 options, "play sound or send message", "remote lock" and "remote wipe". If you remote wipe the iPhone you will not be able to locate it.

I'm using Find My iPhone.app v 1.3 in iOS 4.3.5 on a 3GS. If you are using newer software they might have changed the graphics and added the colors.

So what model iPhone are you using, what version software are you using, and are you syncing to a Mac or Windows PC?

It's an iPhone 4 , ios5, i sync it to a pc.
In other words when I open the app under devices, I see two devices, both of which have my name and iPhone after it. One has a green light indicating the phone was located. The other has a red light and says no location available.

Did you previously have another iPhone registered with this MobileMe/iClouds account?

When you click on the right arrow of each, what is the description of the iPhone? Is it the same or different?

Well I had a mobile me account before the iOS 5 update but I then created a @me email address, I'm not sure if that's the issue. When I click on the arrows, it's essentially the same...they say play sound or send email, remote lock and remote wipe. On the one that says no location found, there is something on the bottom that says email when found (on or off). I only ever had one iPhone (the iPhone 4) so I'm confused as to why it would indicate two devices for my iPhone in the first place.

Aw, but they can lease them short term to make it a "good customer experience". Notice there are few or no complaints from Verizon or Sprint customers.

Right now, AT&T needs to keep their customers happy, so they don't cancel their service and move over to the other providers.

But it is not the Apple serves that are slammed, it is the AT&T servers that are slammed.

And yes, it is something that Apple might be able to handle a little better.

Calendar Cloud sync problems

I have IOS 5 on my iPhone. I have Lion on my MacBook Air. I have Snow Leopard on my iMac.

Question: I have told all three devices to Sync in the iCloud. Does my iMac have to have Lion installed on it for this all to work properly?

Calendar events on iMac are not getting to the iPhone or the MacBook Air.

An entry I made on the MacBook Air (Lion) did show up on the iMac (snow leopard) but not the iPhone (IOS 5).

I really need for all 3 devices to be in sync for addresses and Calendars. Maybe I should not use the Cloud, just yet? Or not use WiFi?

I'm having the same issue, if I'm not connected to my pc where my iTunes program is, I cannot perform a sync. I tried setting it to sync over wifi under summary settings in iTunes but I still can't sync from the iPhone over wifi.

They have to be on the same WiFi Network, while plugged in you have to set
to allow syncing over WiFi in iTunes and click Apply and it still has lots
of issues...

I think I lucked out and just hopes it keeps going
but I got my laptop to work and am syncing now. I
didn't do anything to it so I know its temporary and
going to try to also backup some stuff.

I know with iOS5 it can backup to the iCloud, if my
computer totally dies will all my data and apps be
in the cloud?
===================================================

I hope that you have *all* your data -- not just iphone but everything
else -- backed up to another source if you have a PC going wonky.

External hard drives are cheap, easy to plug in & copy files to even if you
don't use some sort of automatic backup scheme.

I have no idea how much app-data/contents would be on the cloud but I
wouldn't want to trust a single source that "might" have it, I'd want a
local backup "as well as" if not "instead of".

I've "lost" a couple of pc's (died; corrupted; etc.) in the past couple of
years & had to rebuild everything (I did pay the PCER -- a.k.a. Best Buy
Geek Squad -- to retrieve my data files & reinstall my system s/w but that
didn't get everything) -- I was lucky not to lose (too much) data of various
sorts. Now I have *multiple* external HD backups and am much more attentive
about keeping them current. (actually it's gotten a little haphazard &
untidy but at least it's all there on one of those HDs.)

I still haven't figured out how to move iTunes -- not just the content files
(fairly easy but an overnight+ job) but all the playlists & settings -- from
one pc to another instead or re-doing all those things.

iCloud Problems!

I installed iOS5 and iCloud on my MacBookPro and iPad and now I have nothing but problems. My computer has slowed down to a crawl. As I type I get the spinning pinwheel. Anything I try to do gives me the pinwheel. My iPad took 6 hours to update. My MobileMe account is screwed up. My MobileMe password on my iPad is OK, and on my MacBook but it tells me that it's wrong on my iPhone.

I am very unhappy!

iMessage question

I've got the 4S and my wife has my old 4. Both are iOS5. I sent her a text to test things out and it sent as an iMessage. And her reply to me came back as one. But when she started a new text by putting my name in and it getting my cell number, it sent it as a text. iMessage is on in settings on her phone. Is there another setting that needs fixing?

Thanks

Are you sure it was a text (was it green)? If so check setting -
messages - receive t to make sure your phone # is listed/registered on
iMessage server.

setting an alarm with Siri and music

When setting an alarm with Siri is there a way to get it to play music from
your iTunes folder? It uses the default clock, it looks like you can buy
songs for the alarm but I would rather not if I already have a folder full
of them

Thanks
