iPhone/Outlook sync

Posted by: "Rowdy" p.r.yates@stir.ac.uk   sdtp_rowdy

My iPhone (or maybe it's my Outlook settings) has started to erase my past appointments from my calendar. It's really irritating and I don't know whether it's the i-phone or Outlook. Didn't used to and I don't think I've changed any settings. I've looked at both sets of settings and they look OK. Anyone got any ideas?

My iPad 2 and iPhone 3 GS have both been updated to iOS 5. My
MacMini is running Snow Leopard. Since I upgraded to iOS 5 I find
some Calendar items mysteriously duplicate themselves. Could this
be because I am syncing the iPad and iPhone to each other via
iCloud? When I sync to my MacMini should I shut off Contacts
syncing so I don't wind up with duplicates?

Or maybe I should forget syncing via iCloud until I upgrade the
Mac to Lion?

If anyone out there has a similar setup and can offer tips or
suggestions I'd be very grateful. I don't want to wind up messing
things up through my ignorance.

I thought only Lion users could access iCloud with a Mac. I'll look at iTunes and see what I find.

iCloud vs. Wi-Fi Sync: Which does what?

Sent to you by Brent via Google Reader: iCloud vs. Wi-Fi Sync: Which
does what? via iOS Central by Dan Frakes on 11/7/11
Thanks to iTunes 10.5, iOS 5, and iCloud you can wirelessly sync data
with your iOS device in two ways: iCloud lets you send specific
information to and from Apple's iCloud servers over an Internet
connection, and Wi-Fi Sync syncs your device with iTunes on your Mac
via your local wireless network. But there are notable differences
between what gets synced using each method, and the two aren't mutually
exclusive, so it's not surprising that many people are confused about
the differences and similarities between the two. We've summarized the
types of data handled by each.

A friend who has an iPhone and iPad said she can read a book on iPad then pick it up at correct place on iPhone. How can I do that? I really like both devices. Help, please.

I have not done a lot with it but have used it with iBooks. There is a
setting called Sync Bookmarks but can't tell you exactly where in the app.

It should do it automatically if using Kindle or iBooks, Kindle/Amazon
calls it "Whispersync" but it just happens automatically on both.

Share bookmarks is a setting in iTunes under iBooks.

The Kindle app offers to move to the last page read on either my Dell
laptop, iPad 2 or iPhone 4. I think you have to turn on the option though.

Handbrake

I'm not sure if it was in this group or not but someone said they rip dvd's with handbrake, while I rip with ripit and then put it into handbrake to encode. What I'd like to know is, all the files on a dvd are individual .vob files. How do you get a whole disc ripped using handbrake?
