Thanks, Ryan. I've been avoiding doing that because I have about 500
duplicate songs on my pc. And I had manually removed each duplicate one
at a time from Itunes. Now the duplicates are back in Itunes since
that file [folder?] was created from my original windows music folder
[which is the one I had backed up]. This happened when I had to delete
everything during the Vista OS replacement.

I presume you are aware that it was the Vista OS on my pc that I had to
replace... I don't understand where Itunes would get the device name
since Itunes on my pc was totally deleted.

Re: Where's my audiobook?

No it's not legal. It's called piracy. There is an Overdrive app available for the Touch, try that.

Subject: [the_ipod_group] Where's my audiobook?

FIRST OFF ... this IS a repeat of a message posted to another group .. because there may be different readers on this group. ... Okay?
--------------------------------
I downloaded an audiobook to my computer from the local public library using the Overdrive (OD) software supplied by them. After downloading to my computer, I transferred (I thought) the audiobook files to my iPad. Then .. nowhere could I find the audiobook--on the iPad or in the iTunes library.

After a bit of detective work, I determined that the files were in DRM-protected WMA format. I understand I need MP3 for my iPad.

QUESTION: Is it legal to remove DRM protection from these files? If so, is there free software available to do this? What is a reliable program to use? I have the Cucusoft software which has been doing a great job of conversion for me so far, but solving the DRM problem has me stymied.

I assume that once DRM removal is accomplished, I can convert the WMA viles to MP3 and move them to the iPad.
================================
I think being able to download library books to my iPad is a wonderful thing .. BUT, I've had nothing but trouble from the beginning doing this. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't ... and iTunes seems to "hide" audiobooks in various places ... I've had them turn up under song titles in my Music app, and in other places too. .............. Also, I've never yet found out how to REMOVE these library offerings from my iPod/iPad ... they don't seem to show up in iTunes at all.
I'm not computer-illiterate, but iTunes is a love/hate thing with me.

HELP, HELP ... Anyone out there adept at public library borrowing?? Advice, please!
