I think the reason I ended up changing was being able to access it via a website if necessary. I was using RoboForm off a thumb drive that I may or may not have with me all the time. I have a toolbar for LastPass on my laptop browsers so I can click on that to open a site or it will fill in passwords if it detects I'm on a web page that I can log in to. And it allowed me to configure a bookmarklet to log in to sites on my work computer, which is an ancient Mac with an equally ancient version of Firefox. I liked the way it works seemlessly on all of those. So I opted to give the $12/year iPhone app a try and liked it enough to re-up when it the year was over. I can't give technical reasons but I felt it was a better product for my needs than RoboForm.

4S Daylight Savings Time FAIL

My phone didn't change to DTS at 2 am.  A reboot did not fix this. I'm in Central time zone.

Look at your Timezone settings in Settings, General, Date.

I had that problem too. Just set your Timezone manually and it will be adjusted.

Didn't work for me, I had to turn OFF Automatically Set in Settings > Date
& Time and set the time manually. If I turn Auto back on it changes ahead
an hour. iPad set itself correctly so I am assuming it is an AT&T issue as
iPad is only on WiFi, cell data is not activated...

Update, I did a "Hard Reset" (held down home and lock buttons until Apple
logo) it rebooted to wrong time then auto adjusted within a few seconds.

For me when set on Auto Update it automatically chooses New York instead of Washington DC. That's fine. It's close enough.

Indeed, it's the same time zone. Setting it to automatic doesn't find your city but it does find your time zone. I'm in DC and it found NY and our iPhone 4 correctly reset the time over nite (no reboot/restart was needed).

Mine did not change either. I had to turn the phone off and then on
again for the proper time to show.

I didn't have any trouble either, with any of my iToys -- phone, pad, touch.
The only one I had to do manually was an old ipod classic, I just had to
turn DST setting to off.

I have an assortment of electronics with clocks -- some update DST/EDT
properly, some don't do it at all; some that don't now would do it if we
hadn't changed the dates of the changes so I've had to keep them set at
DST=off. :-)

Hotel keycards are notorious for failing without outside influences. They are constantly recoded and that is where the failure come from.

I used to travel for work and the failure rate on the keycards for me was 10-20% and I keep my iPhone no where near the keycards.

Podcast artwork not self-deleting in iOS5

Posted by: "afarbourn" afarbourn@yahoo.com   afarbourn

Sun Nov 6, 2011 6:07 am (PST)

I've been using iOS5 on my AT&T iPhone 4 for several weeks now. This
week my phone and I had to be away from my Win7 PC for several days, so
in the interim I used WiFi to download from the iTunes store several
episodes of my favorite podcasts. (For instance, these included 4
episodes of "Tech News Today" and 1 episode of "Start the Week" from the
BBC.)

Now that I am once again syncing with my PC (via sync cable), I cannot
delete from the phone the artwork for the podcasts that I downloaded in
the interim. The episodes no longer play, and the artwork and titles are
grayed-out, but nonetheless they still appear in the podcast library on
my iPhone, like some skeletal fossil of a deceased dinosaur.

I've had my iPhone 4 for over a year, and I owned an iPod Touch before
that, but this quirk has never appeared before now. Oddly, the last
episode of "Tech News Today," which I downloaded via syncing with the
PC, deleted normally from the iPhone after I listened to it and
re-synced the phone. And some of the other podcast episodes I downloaded
via WiFi were deleted normally.

Am I missing a setting? I'd really like to eliminate the clutter from my
podcast library.

have you tried asking a staff member for the password? it may be that the hospital restricts access to patients and staff to prevent nearby homes and businesses from piggybacking or to require their users to acknowledge and "sign" off on the rules before using the system (we see *that* all the time at campgrounds and RV parks). my mom-in-law just spent 10-days in a hospital which has free, high speed wifi throughout. it's been my experience that most hospitals do.

lots of places offer "free" wifi. some, like libraries are truly free (meaning no out-of-pocket costs to users there is really no such thing as completely 'free') while others may require a purchase. some of these spots may require a user id and password for access while others may not.

Good evening group! I'm getting a little frustrated, I'm tired of buying data when I should be able to get on the wifi. It's to many wifi spots for me to keep having to buy data. I am siting in a hospital and it has wifi for guest! Well guess what, I can't get on. It will sign in to it the as for some type of password. I can't take it! Can someone give me the secret to getting wifi. What app can I use for the iPad2? HELP!

Some places have wifi that isn't seen, it has to be asked for. You have to type in the network name and the password.

the MapQuest App (free) will provide turn-by-turn voice navigation. i'm on
Verizon, not AT&T, but it should be the same app.

___________________________
There are 2 general classes of GPS app.

1. Guidance algorithms are built-in; maps are downloaded - over Wifi when
possible, or using your cellular data.

2. The app is 1.5 gigabytes, giver or take, because the entire map - and
point of interest - database is built into the app, and data connection is
used only for traffic updates.

I started using GPS with a Garmin in 1998. My current Garmin has been
relegated to my wife's minivan, because I use the TomTom App (with data
built-in) for guidance now.

There is no built in Calculator app on the iPad, you have to download a
third party one from the App Store. There also isn't a built in Weather
App and a few others.

My one HUGE gripe about iPad and iPhone is that there are too many
differences, especially the Music player.

How many Apps do you have on your iPad?
There is a limit of the *display* to 11 pages of Apps and folders.

And sometimes an App will get pushed off page 1, creating a page 2 with a single app on it, but the rest are still there on pages 3, 4, etc.

Okay.
Connect the iPad to your computer.
Start iTunes.
Click on the iPad in the left pane of iTunes.
Click on Apps in the right pane of iTunes.
Search for a "missing" App, double-click on it, see what page it's on.

iPad info help

Hello all,

I have been a lurker for awhile and just need some advice on an iPad purchase.

I am looking at buying an iPad2 around Christmas and I can't decide if I should go 32g or 64g (I have a 32g iPhone and 2 64g iPod and all of those are full of apps/music/movies)

Outside of size I am trying to decide on whether to get the 3g ready or just stay with with wifi only. And I have heard that the white ipad looks washed out compared to the black one. Has anyone with a white ipad notice that?

And what are the best accessories for the ipad that y'all have noticed? I am looking for a keyboard, a nice case and at least a stand of some kind for my desk.

Thanks in advance for all the help and advice

> And what are the best accessories for the ipad that y'all have noticed? I am looking for a keyboard, a nice case and at least a stand of some kind for my desk.

Wait until you have had it for a while.
