They should have made this clear before we updated to iOS 5.
I for one was happy with 4 etc.

There is also an app, called Photosync, that you can download/upload photos and videos to iphone using your wireless network.

I use it often and works pretty good and the best part is that you dont have to be on your wifi network. If you go to a friends house you can share your photos/videos with him using his network, thru any web browser...pretty cool.

Thank you Rodrigo. I had been using a 3rd party file manager where my phone did not show. I opened Windows Explorer and there they are. I can sort all now.

Yes it is an Internet service that require access to wifi or a data plan to work even if you are just asking Siri to set an alarm.

Thanks,

Car Key Fobs, Credit Cards & iPhones

I am wondering if there is any reason to be careful keeping your credit cards next to your iPhone and/or your electronic key fobs, or vice versa, etc. I have had my credit card's magnetic strip demagnetized before, and I wondered if it was from being too close to my phone or car key fob. Has Apple addressed this issue with the new phones? (And is it still an issue to have any magnets near your laptop, etc?)

Thanks for any insights

I have had one of every model of iPhone and never heard of this. There are
credit card readers that plug into the top and bottom of the iPhone and
work without a problem. Apple Retail Stores have credit card readers
attached to some type Apple devide without a problem. I do not believe this
is an issue.

Carol,
Deauthorize old PC and Authorize new.
Go to Store, Deauthorize This Computer..... in iTunes software.
You will find Authorize right above to toggle on for new PC.

I just bought a new PC and would like to move Itunes from my XP to this new
laptop. Can I just download Itunes on the new PC and log in? Do I have to
delete it off the XP? I will be keeping the XP for limited use (Photoshop
prof.)
And I have tried to sync my 4 and iPad 2 via Cloud but I don't notice that
anything changed -- certainly no update of where I'm reading particular
books on each device. Is this because Itunes is on XP currently?
Thanks,
Carol

New iOS GMail App

Google has finally released a GMail iOS App - I am not sure why but here it
is:

http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2011/11/introducing-gmail-app-for-iphone-ipad.html
Introducing the Gmail app for iPhone, iPad and iPod
touch<http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2011/11/introducing-gmail-app-for-iphone-ipad.html>
Posted
by Matthew Izatt, Product Manager

Waiting. Walking. Watching TV. Working out. Winding down. Waking up. We
check email pretty much everywhere these days. And when we do, we want easy
access to our important messages so we can respond quickly and get back to
life -- or slinging birds at thieving green pigs.

With that in mind, weve created a new Gmail app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod
touch <http://itunes.apple.com/app/gmail/id422689480?mt=8>. Weve combined
your favorite features from the Gmail mobile web app and iOS into one app
so you can be more productive on the go. Its designed to be fast,
efficient and take full advantage of the touchscreen and notification
capabilities of your device. And its one more reason to switch to
Gmail<../../help/switch.html>.

*Speed*
We want to give you the information you need quickly, with minimal effort
and distraction. So weve included some time-saving features:

- Get alerted to new messages with push notifications and sounds
- Find an email in seconds with search across your entire inbox
- Autocomplete email addresses from your Gmail contacts or select from
your devices address book
- Upload photos with a click using the new attachment button in compose
view
- On iPad, navigate your inbox and read your mail simultaneously with
split view

<http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GkjIvTIku1o/TrCEgG-6niI/AAAAAAAAAOw/T3q7o5raBn4/s1600/ios1.png>
<http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JGK67Celzwo/TrCEgZJ53DI/AAAAAAAAAO4/YHRCI1HUFn4/s1600/ios2.PNG>
*Upload photos* *Reply, move, label and more*
*Efficiency*
Our inboxes overflow with dozens and even hundreds of messages a dayand
this can be even more challenging on a smaller screen. The new Gmail app
helps organize your mail so you dont have to go wading through your inbox
to find that key message from your boss or loved one:

- Focus on your important messages first with Priority Inbox
- Quickly scan countless emails on the same subject with threaded
conversations
- Organize your mail by archiving, labelling, starring, deleting and
reporting spam

<http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TFD5LiyhZ8Q/TrCEggfNoFI/AAAAAAAAAPI/0cRLlCoDCtQ/s1600/ios3.jpg>
*Threaded conversations on the iPad*
*Touch*
Weve also optimized the interface so you can perform common actions in
Gmail with the lightest touch:

- Pull down your inbox to rapidly refresh if youre eager for new mail
- Swipe right to view your labels without ever leaving your inbox
- Swiftly scroll through dozens of emails just by sliding your finger

<http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ONWkaKqBr8c/TrCEhCgYr1I/AAAAAAAAAPU/Wo_bnBagOuU/s1600/ios4.png>
<http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SjnYsxUuvVc/TrCEhXhcaSI/AAAAAAAAAPg/Wq3klEaPn84/s1600/ios5.png>
*Pull down to refresh* *Swipe right to view labels* We hope the Gmail app
makes checking email on the go a little easier. It is available in the App
Store <http://itunes.apple.com/app/gmail/id422689480?mt=8> today and works
on all devices running iOS 4+. For more information, check out our help

I download the Gmail app but I'm not sure I like it. I will use it for a
few days but my first thought are that the mail app built into the iPhone
is better. Guess I'll have to wait and see.

I downloaded it, and when I run it I get the following error - "Notification Error. No valid 'aps-enviroment' entitlement string found for application". Any idea what that means?

iCloud versus mobileme

I thought we could keep our me address. Instead, I am told my me address is already in use. Any clues how to transfer it from one to the other?

Go to me.com and log in and it will prompt you to migrate to iCloud,
keeping the same address.

It failed to import my me address. It is grayed out and won't let me choose it at all. Is this because my original sign in with Apple was an email address other than the me one?

Google Pulls Gmail App for iPhone, iPad: ⒠Sorry We Messed Up

Sent to you by Bill Boulware via Google Reader: Google Pulls Gmail App
for iPhone, iPad: ⒠Sorry We Messed Up⒠ via Mashable! by Chris Taylor on
11/2/11

Mere hours after launching its Gmail for iOS app, Google has yanked it
from the iTunes app store.

⒠The iOS app we launched today contained a bug with notifications,⒠
read a tweet on the Gmail Twitter feed. ⒠We have pulled the app to fix
the problem. Sorry we messed up.⒠

When launched, the Gmail app displayed an error that read: ⒠no valid
⒠aps-environment⒠ entitlement string found for application.⒠ This error
appeared to refer to push notifications, such as displaying the number
of unread messages on the app icon.

The rest of the app functioned as intended, but many early users
registered their disappointment. The app was not able to host email on
the user⒠s device, and seemed little different from the interface you
get when visiting Gmail on the Safari browser.

We⒠ve reached out to Google to find out why this much-delayed app was
launched with buggy code and a lack of native email hosting. But in the
meantime, let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Google posted on Facebook that anyone who installed the Gmail app can
continue to use it while they work on a fix for the error.

Filter junk mail on iPhone?

Posted by: "Devitt" devittad@comcast.net   devittad

Is there any way to set up a Junk Mail folder in iOS? My mail uses an IMAP account through Comcast.

I'm still receiving obscene and phishing emails daily from when one of my Yahoo groups was hacked. I set up my Mail in Snow Leopard to move all hotmail.com stuff to the Junk folder. But it all still comes through into the Inbox on my iPhone and iPad.

It's a minor annoyance for me. But I'll be visiting my grandchildren soon. One of them (an 8-year-old boy) loves to play with my iPhone. I'd hate to have him stumble onto one of the obscene emails with very graphic pix. He usually just uses the games. But you never know what he'll punch by accident.

Right now I'm using the latest version of iOS 4 on my 3GS. But if iOS 5 makes such filtering possible, I'll upgrade before we leave home.

I'd be very grateful for any advice.

Technically no, but if the account is IMAP and you have a filter running on
your Mail client, you could just leave the mail client open and it will
filter it before it makes it to your phone.

Even Google/GMails GREAT Junk filtering does not catch all of these and it
is very annoying when I am in with clients or working with employees or
using iPad and one of these mails come in. I know I can set a filter for
all hotmail.com mail but I there are people who email me from
hotmail.comaddresses so I can't block the entire domain...

The iPhone's default iPod app⒠which aims to handle virtually every type
of compatible audio content on your device⒠isn't bad, but definitely
has its limitations. Apple hasn't done much to innovate in the way you
sync your content, play your music, and manage your podcasts and audio
books. Fortunately, third parties have filled in the gap. Here's what
you need to move on from the iPod app for a better listening
experience. More »
